So in most cases you would be correct. This build specifically was very labor intensive and uses alot of equipment. We are very competitive specially when working with volunteer organizations with budgets that rely mostly on donations. So I can say that even with the many labor hours, this build was completed and delivered for less than $10,000. Which is almost unheard-of industry wide.

Only thing I would've changed is had the fusions come on steady burn white with the front TD's and side alleys (grill lights and running board lights)

Although that would have been a great added feature. You have to remember that the Feniex Fusion Dual Color units only featured two(2) programmable modes. The customer decided to utilize them solely as warning units because they wanted a drive mode(Red/White) and an on scene mode which is obviously the (Red Only). With the newer lightheads offering more options or the use of a control system such as BluePrint(SoundOff Signal), Core(Whelen), Pathfinder(Fed Sig), or Matrix(Code3). The added feature would have been possible. When consulting with the customer to plan the build we had deliver certain functionality within the confines of what the equipment could do.

Any photos on how the grille lights were mounted? Flat backer metal pieces behind it to mount to?

We don't have any photos or video of they are mounted. But we 3D print with high strength ABS plastic all our backer plates & wedges. Essentially yes they were mounted the way you thought but we don't use steel or aluminum. Our ABS plastic not only will hold up longer but doesn't rust or oxidize.

Any professional upfitter should be able to fabricate brackets for you. We do them quite often. You need the vehicle physically in your shop to do it right.

What can’t you put feniex fusion surface mounts under the tailgate on a civ base model truck

For some reason they have a bend in the aluminum down low where you can only mount the lights so far without cutting into it. So the tailgate doesn't have enough room to clear the Fusion SM's. So without making a cutout in the aluminum bend(which is done for rigidity) when opening the tailgate it hits the lights. That is why we went with the mPowers. Which honestly worked out better in our opinion because we were also able to give the chief added reverse lights with the outside two being tri-color.

Hey John, thanks for reaching out. So as far as our custom control boxes, they are honestly designed on a build to build basis. We do many builds week in & week out that all our are different. Sometimes our control centers are contained within a center consol if possible. Many end up on the rear partition of a PIU or Expedition, sometimes they are in a Satina/Havis vehicle specific electronics tray. Some even can be under the rear cargo area of an SUV. I can ask Sr. if he can maybe do some more in depth videos of our central control centers. Now I know that may be a bit difficult as so many of our contract builds are for customers that for multiple reasons absolutely forbid us from publishing their builds. But I will definitely pass on your request to Sr. to let him know that you would like to see more in depth coverage of how we put together some of our control centers.

why no blue lights on emergency vehicles?

This vehicle is a Fire Department vehicle. Which as per vehicle code can only run Red/White. In the state of Pennsylvania only Law Enforcement is legally authorized to run Red & Blue. Our volunteer firefighters are authorized to run only blue lights. Tow Trucks, construction vehicles, security & utility services are only legally authorized to use amber. Unless a special government security detail, then green & amber is used. Funeral procession vehicles can use purple lights with only one forward facing white light. That is a detailed explaination of the legal authorized use of warning lights and specific colors allowed for certain industries in Pennsylvania. Our state laws restricting authorized use of warning lights & lighting colors is very strict. Regulations vary widely accross the United States as to the warning colors used by specific industries.

@@mitchmackenzie3293 No problem. Unfortunately in the US there is no standard/general rule regarding the use of specific colors in emergency vehicle lighting. The local governments in each of our 50 states make their own laws regarding authorized use. This is why you see so many different emergency vehicle from the US displaying a wide range of colors.

No, the customer declined the addition of a manual switch or our automatic switching like we did on the rear with the 800.

I'd be willing to bet that now they have put it in service, we will be adding two mercury switches, one for each of the side boxes at some point in the future. What do you think?

I think you could have done a better job with the wiring to the box under the seat vs just coming in from the side like you did. Looks very armature. Also why would you use a mercury switch with all that wiring zip tied, when you could have just used a basic reed switch and skipped all the wiring?

All of our system wiring is hidden under the rear seat. The two wires you see entering the control box from the drivers side is the Feniex factory data link wires which were too short to route under the seat. The customer opted for it to enter the side rather than have us make longer cables, uninstall the Feniex factory wires and reinstall longer cables. I agree with you I would have gone to the trouble of making new longer RJ45 cables. As far as the mercury switch it was a decision we made with input from our customer. The customer did not want a reed switch as they were worried it would be easily destroyed once the truck was placed in service. The mercury switch was a way to keep the switch secure and out of the way.

Sorry that it's not related to this build but I have an older truck (2007 Super Duty) that I'm looking to install visor lights in. Due to there not being vehicle-specific brackets for this model, I'm anticipating a decent amount of flashback. Any tips to reduce it?

Absolutely, we use a product from Trim-Loc called Flap Seal that we use on all our ILB(interior lightbar) installs. Ofcoarse it can be purchased in different sizes. The gap between the lightbar frame & windshield dictates the size we use. What it basically does is bridge that gap between the bottom of the lightbar frame & the windshield to minimize the flashback.
