The very thing that some of you don't like about this flashlight, is the very thing I LIKE about it. Personally, I'm glad that it doesn't have an external charging port. All you have to do is purchase an additional battery when you purchase this flashlight. On the average, it takes about 3 hours to charge the battery. During that time, you don't have access to your flashlight! With an extra charged battery available, you just simply change the battery to the charged one and you're back in business. Also, an open charging port is just another avenue to introduce dirt, lint, water, etc. to your flashlight. Again, the two battery system is fast and efficient. When this flashlight is used for duty use, I don't have time to plug my flashlight in to charge for a few hours. Just my two pennies worth...

I bought this flashlight last year to use with my bow for bowfishing. This light is unbelievablely bright for its size. It definitely has a quick step down from turbo mode and I have to turn the flashlight off and on to keep that brightness since I fish at night. I just bought another today for my AR because it's so durable and bright. I fell in the water before with my bow and all it was fine. I also dropped this on the asphalt road while running once it it works like a charm. It did have some small dents as a result but it's obvious that it's made with some quality materials. For those of you considering I 100% recommend. Also, swapping the batteries and charging the other is very convenient. Note: if you do decide to get the pressure switch for this it only does strobe and the steady beam on turbo brightness.

It's easy to carry, memory mode, instant strobe, all weather proof, tough quality, brighter than a car headlight. Probably won't get another 100 bucks especially to even just buy this till idk when. Got it in the first week of july and was working like new still. Great video! Regarding the 'dislikes'- I'm not sure why anyone would ever need to 'tail stand' a flashlight, so that's irrelevant. I have the PD32 v2.0, TK16 v2.0 and Nitecore P20i here and have to say, I really like the TK16 and find it almost the best of the 3. However, there are some points I dislike: - Colour of the light. It's rather greenish. (The Nitecore as well. Both have a Luminus LED) The PD32 v2.0 has by far the better, more neutral colour. - The tailswitches are great, but I get the feeling Fenix and Nitecore could have done better, but probably never will on purpose. For example, if you need the strobe to stay on really fast, both the TK16 v2 and P20i are laborious in how they allow you to do it. (Press strobe/mode butten, then press the power button to lock the strobe mode) This works somewhat with the Fenix light, but in an emergency, it gets tricky since you may not find both buttons instantly and may have to reposition your hand. It's even worse for the Nitecore. Pressing both buttons at the same time, with just your thumb? Good luck. Alternatively, you can also activate both lights normaly and then press the strobe/mode butten for 0.8 sec to lock in strobe. But why so difficult? I would take the button design of the Nitecore and do it as follows: + Tab big button for momentary turbo. Press big button for flashlight on, with turbo being the old mode here. Holding the big button gives you strobe, no matter if the light is already on or still off. + The small embedded button would be used for daily use light modes and can also activate the flashlight. This way, you have a big button for emergencys that you can basically never miss or do anything wrong and you have the small, more hidden one for daily use, when time is no issue anyway. (Please no sidebuttons, I hate to have to rotate the light) Switch wise, the PD32 v2.0 takes the crown. So easy to access everything you need. No mistakes can be made. - Rather low runtime at 30lumen (43h compared to the PD32 v2 with 89h) Besides that, it's an awesome light. Especially doing 3100 lumens is just fun and lights up so much space with just that tiny device. I'm not sure if I keep it though. PD32 v2s colour is just way better. Btw. the Nitecore is going back for sure. Great light no doubt, but too spcialized for a normal joe like me.

Nice flashlight, but like others have said, they should have made "Instant Strobe" built into the Large tail switch, not the small one, its too difficult to find the small one in a "panic" situation when every second counts. I also prefer to have an additional side function switch, as sometimes someone may want to carry the light in a daily use position when walking, but still be able to hit strobe or turbo from that position if needed. Only other complaint would be the color temp of the light, its just too warm compared to Olight brand and some others which use a cooler temp. output.
@rockspydre2 жыл бұрын
So, first off, I love your reviews. The seem down to earth, and point out all the important features of ANYTHING you review (wallets). And shortcomings. So, here’s an input from a flashlight user, every day. Not tactical, I’m not LEO. But I walk at night in the country, no lights or houses, and I like to see what is walking around me. I also use flashlights a lot when camping. Car, and trailer. Most of the time I’m using a flashlight it is cold and I’m wearing not just gloves, but mittens. All that being said, first, I’ve never needed a light to tail stand. Yeah, sure, it’s neat. But it usually doesn’t work anyway unless your surface is pristine. I HAVE used the magnetic tail on Olights to stick them to either a car hood or a metal horse gate. Magnets are useful. Tailstanding… less so. Second: side switches that only adjust the brightness, but can’t turn on or off are BS. They can be designed right, but it seems that 95% of the time they aren’t. It’s like the designers have never tried to actually use their product. You turn the light on, and then fumble finding the side switch until the need has passed. They need to be huge, or they need to be gone. Olight seems to be, so far, the only company that has a clue on side switches (they’re also power on/off) but even they can’t get the switch designed to use in the dark with gloves. If you are going to have a level adjustment switch separate from power, it needs to at least be co-located. Like the TK16. Third: I wish whatever jackwagon came up with the rave setting for flashlights (strobe) had it shoved up his a%%. Flicker vertigo is a real thing. But you’re not going to get it from a flashlight except in the rare instance a subject is either particularly susceptible due to an uncommon predilection to flicker vertigo, or they are abusing substances that predispose them to it. Which, now that I think about it more…. May call for it in a light LEOs might use. But overall, strobe functions should die. As should an SOS function. If you don’t know enough to trigger your own SOS Morse code, you probably don’t know that you should. I mean, really? If there is any automated function that should be on a flow light, it should be simple beacon. And it should be at a setting that should last for hours. So, now that I’ve ranted for a while, I bought this flashlight after seeing your review. It seems to come close to being well thought out. No side switch. The smaller button would work better as a momentary max output, or not an independent switch at all. Just get rid of strobe. It is a waste of good switch space.
@ChrispyThings2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. I’ll agree on most of your rant except for the strobe function. Maybe I’m susceptible to it but strobe absolutely kills me when I see it. It actually makes me nauseous. It can be very effective when it’s dark and you trigger it, the same as a quick turbo flash. Temporary blindness.
@rockspydre2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess I was a little harsh and judgemental regarding the strobe and its effects. I just see it as a wasted function, probably because it has no effect on me (beyond the blinding lumens), and I’ve never used it, at all, except as a curiosity. So, my bad on dissing the strobe.

02:38 How are the dual switches new? As shown, they function exactly as with the old Tk16. They are also its achilles' heel: one of my 2 tks is in repairs for the 2nd time due to, you guessed it, tail switch problems. Had the same happen to Surefires and other fenix torches, but any dual tail switch seems more vulnerable: more components to break. That's why I chose the new fenix pd32 V2 that offers instastrobe through the tailcap but with just one button. For their prices, you get a lot but the tk16 is the only one I regret buying. My second tk16 is weapon mounted with a remote switch. That switch seems less prone to malfunctions. That being said, I like your no-nonsense review style

The TK16 V2 is one of the nearly perfect tactical flashlights beside the TK25 Red in my eyes. You can tab the mode button as quick as you can the choose the brightness step without having some unwanted mode. It´s idiot save. I don´t wanted an other tactical light with turbo start on the power button, nearly all other lights have this. The TK16 V2 runs with the HT18 battery adapter and 18650 too, like the Nitecore 8A low temperate battery. I´ve got the Warrior, Warrior Pro, Warrior X, M20SX, M3XS-UT, Javelot Pro, PT18 Oatkeeper, EC35II, L16, L17, L18, L19, L30II, L35 Lattice, X10, T28, TM03, P16, P25, P36, MH27UV, XT11GT HD, XT12GT, XT21X, XT32, FX10, 360X3, TN35, BSS V4, SP70, Predator V2.5 Pro, UT90, FD41, TK15UE, TK35UE2018, TK25 Red and TK25 IR at tactical lights, but the Fenix UI on the TK16 and TK25 is really great without starting in turbo against all these ohter lights with different UI´s. Only if you have all you can really decide what´s better. Because of this the TK16 V2 and the TK25 Red are my most picked tactical flashlights in use....and this makes them to my best tactical flashlights ever, I feel so.

Not having a charging port is one less opportunity that moisture or dirt can infiltrate the body. Thats one way to look at it I guess.
@eaglen00b3 жыл бұрын
If I need to tail stand mine, I just fit a piece of cut rubber hose to the back of the torch and pop that on any surface. The internal diameter of the cut hose piece needs to snugly fit the widest part of the tailcap and extend a little past the buttons. USB charging ports are good for convenience, but could be a huge pain in the A if they fail. The USB charge port on the battery is a better idea I think. I carry a spare battery in its case, so I always have a fully charged battery on standby if I need it. If the USB charge port fails on the battery, then I'll just charge it with a regular 21700 battery charger, or just spend 20 bucks on a new battery. No big deal, really.

As long as the diameter of the battery is no wider than the Fenix battery, and as long as length is within a millimeter or two, it should work fine.

I pre-ordered this light from the Fenix website by the time I reached 7:47 in your review. I purchased the Olight Warrior X Pro and do not like the limitation of the LO 300 to HI 2300 lumens with nothing in between. Plus I think Fenix stands alone with the feel and sturdiness of their tail switches. I appreciate your "straight to the point" review of this light without all of the unboxing mumbo-jumbo.
@raffighookassian17243 жыл бұрын
I'm hesitant to try out fenix as I don't appreciate there lack of transparency. They advertise 3100 lumens but they don't state how long it stays on turbo before it steps down. I love how olight clearly says turbo for 2 min @3200 lumens, then steps to 800. I have a perun 2, seeker 2 pro, warrior mini, and a i1r 2. I've been very happy
@jerrysifuentes50123 жыл бұрын
@@raffighookassian1724 - Expecting any single battery flashlight to run at 3100 lumens for any significant amount of time is an unreasonable expectation. 5 years ago 1000 lumens running a single 18650 was the standard. Today, a single cell flashlight running a 21700 can run 1600 to 1800 lumens for similar amounts of time. My Olight Warrior X Pro was a huge disappointment. At 2300 lumens you can see the step down after less than 30 seconds. Having only 2 settings of LO 300 and HI 2300 with nothing in between makes it very impractical. It spend more time on the charger than on my belt. I have purchase Olight, Nitecore, Lumentop, Acebeam, RovyVon, Fenix, Klarus, Thrunite and a few others. I have never been disappointed with Fenix or RovyVon.

I’m a diehard Olight user but their changes to the power switch have me shopping for a new alternative. The Fenix has been on my radar but these raised tail switches seem extreme. Seems like they will be a sure fail point. Getting torn off or broken if the light is dropped.

An excellent tactical flashlight. I have been using it since 02/24/2022 in the war against the Russian occupiers. This flashlight helps me fight low-flying drones, and once I blinded a tanker with it and our operator Javelina managed to knock out a T-72 tank. And there was also a case when, with its help, we identified and destroyed an enemy sniper. Really unique and versatile flashlight.

Some comments; no charging port, no tail stand. Then I thought about it this is a tactical light, charge port is one more place for dirt to get in, tail stand is when the rifle butt is sitting on the floor and light is pointed up at tent roof. It may get mounted on a pistol or rifle. Cons need another level between turbo and high. As an EDC it needs an eco eco mode 1-5 lumen's.

Im a huge fan of the control scheme as well. I can't stand all these lights with a million modes and only one button to cycle through them. Every time you use the light, it takes you thirty seconds to get to the mode you want, which is ridiculous. This is a far superior setup, and amazingly efficient. Great review.
