@mikehuff9793
@mikehuff9793 27 күн бұрын
@@jonathanbrotherton7769that’s impossible. We all use coping mechanisms. Behavior is the most addictive part of addiction. What you’re describing is a perfect human. We know that doesn’t exist. See, in recovery we learn about addiction as a behavior, not an outside factor like a leaf or liquid. Those of us in recovery hopefully make “the turn,” where we do indeed try to not relapse into any old negative behaviors that may lead to drug use. We try to be the best versions of ourselves we can be. In that, we know that no human on planet earth has “perfect behavior.” No human on this earth has it so easy. We are all suffering something. “To err is human; perfection is godlike.” Straight edge people are not gods. Sorry, not sorry. You can hold yourself to that standard: but I doubt very seriously that there’s any human who can never be sad, never have a bad thought, never have a bad day, never morning the loss of a loved one, who is never faced with the hard times in life. We are all suffering from something. In recovery we forgive ourselves and each other. We don’t hold each other to these impossible standards. We try, but we don’t cover up tattoos and promises we made to ourselves when we fail. We know we are human, and are patient with ourselves and each other. What we don’t have patience for is someone else who has never been through what we’ve been through trying to set the standards by which we live. Compassion is universal. Compassion doesn’t judge and set standards. Compassion doesn’t remind us where the bar is we much reach. We do not run around reminding each other because we don’t compare. What works for me works for me. CBT worked for me…AA/NA 12 steps worked for my wife. We do not criticize each other. I don’t hold her to the standard of cognitive behavioral therapy and she doesn’t hold me to 12-step standards. You want to be straight edge?..cool, be that. But that doesn’t make you the authority on what it means to clean and sober.

Decades ago I had a mountain climbing accident which damaged my spine. As a result my legs hurt all the time. I've had plenty of surgeries which have not helped. Every day is a struggle due to my chronic pain. 10-20 years ago, the medical profession did not undertreat pain. I could get methadone and hydrocodone which I carefully only took as prescribed. They did not remove the pain, not even close, but I was functional. But these opiates are now considered some awful poison. The government sometimes changes rules and doctors need to abide by the rules. So, again, with no warning, my hydrocodone almost stopped a few days ago. What are my choices? Live with this intolerable severe pain, which is really not possible, or end up on the street? Some of us are addicted, but really do need the pain reduction. It's not about trauma or mental health. It's instead the intense need to reduce real physical pain. I'm not using fentanyl yet, but I could very well end up there.

Berlin is all of us. A lot of regrets, struggles, tears, and heartaches. These are the things we all go through. Let's all wish her well, or pray for her if you're a religious person. It's not easy for an addict to quit. Of course, we all have a choice. Wishing you all the best, Berlin.

These interviews are interesting, but also frustrating when they dont fill in the blanks of their stories. A common theme is using drugs to numb something. Possibly numbing not facing some experienced trauma at a young age. 😔

Yep - interviewer is not good. At all. *kidnapped by hells angels(no details really) *started abusing opiates at 10 years old(couples sentences about 1st pill after accident and dad was a pharmacist. That’s it) *married an Argentinian Coke dealer to help get immigration papers(one sentence that it didn’t really work he was deported and also had 2 kids with his best friend- no follow up) I see lots of thumbnail links for this channel but finally watched this and it’s probably the worst possible interview I could have imagined. So much potential wasted. So flat and boring. Maybe this is an off day for guy?

I'm going to bet that her parents have gone to court while she's been out on the streets for over 3 years doing drugs. I'm guessing that they have full custody of the children. If she ever gets clean, she won't be allowed to just go get her kids. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ It doesn't work that way, ma'am.

Girl I hope you see this your beautiful inside and outside. Being a black sheep of the family also. I was raised by the foster care system. Fortunately I've nvr been an addict. It helps to build a family that isn't blood. You need to get to the point that losing control over your heart and body just puts you in fear. That's the only way I've been able to stay sober and I'm 51 yrs old and fight with self worth every day but you are worth it. Reward yourself with smiles and heart warming gestures it's very rewarding. I work with equine therapy I wish you were here so I could show you the power you have with in to control 16hand horse and instill in you how strong and special you are. I've seen alot of these interviews but your sad eyes really called to me. Have faith in yourself that you can get rewarded in another way. Try finding some equine therapy it's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
