Hey Nikko, I'm 25 too and deal with addictions. Try and go to a group where you can meet others like you trying to be sober, I'm not talking rehab or AA but just a addictions centre, they can help you go into sober living and sober working. It's great to be able to go somewhere safe and you can decompress and bounce ideas off others, have people who really care about you & find insight into why you use. You got this man I believe in you.

Yes, Nikko-. look into a place called Green Oak Ranch in Vista. It is in north San Diego county not far from San Marcos or Temecula, and they have an a sober rehab/work program for minimum 9 months… it looked like an excellent program when I was researching it. Best of luck Nikko you can do this. For your girls. ❤❤

AA can work if you work it, as well or better than a rehab center. Rehab centers usually feature AA meetings anyway. Maybe NA would be better for an addict since he doesn’t drink alcohol.

When Mark asks "what kind of emotions do you go thru" and he said Stress, man that brought me back. Someone recently told me that being in active addiction is being in a fight or flight state 24/7, and that is 100% true. You never feel relief. You don't feel relief when the drugs are in your palm because you are looking at them and you're thinking "how long is this going to last? I need to make this last me X amount of time, etc", and it will never last you half that amount of time. When I got clean i was so exhausted for the first 6 months. The body needs to get a ton of R&R after living like that for so long. It's a terrible way to live and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Best of luck to you bro. You can do it. Unfortunately you need to just be completely worn out with it before you can commit to recovering.
@rae7864

100% true. I was so terrified at even the thought of getting clean, because I thought I'd forever be wanting, waiting, just in that constant state of fear and hopelessness.. I'm happy to report that is NOT the case..I've been clean for over 6 years now with a beautiful 2 year old baby girl and that stress, is gone

Some believe all it takes is hitting "rock bottom" but what most don't understand is with drug addicts is when we hit "rock bottom" the drugs help to find a new rock bottom. It's sick and viscous but you really gotta want to change and be better and have that good guy on your shoulder or a support system of some sort to help you see the light. Not everyone has a rock bottom. Not everyone is strong enough to deal with life and tragedy without drugs.

@@tsunamisurfer7325 I’m not sure what planet you surf on but I’m glad racial profiling doesn’t exist there. I’ll tell you a little story and you can tell me what you think would’ve happened if the person I’m speaking about was not a preppy white kid. My daughter and her friend were on their way home one night when they saw a young guy laying in the street who looked to be all bloody. They pulled over and realized it was someone they had gone to school with. He was unconscious but they were able to get him into the car. For some reason, she called me to call 911 and they drove him to our house. I ran next-door to get my neighbor who’s a physician and she could not get him to snap out of it, but quickly realized he was very drunk and covered in chocolate syrup, not blood. Rescue units, sheriff’s department showed up and they finally got the kid to mumble he attended USC and gave them his father’s phone number, who came and picked him up. Meanwhile, the sheriffs were kind of laughing that this must be some sort of initiation. I just kept thinking to myself, if this kid was black, there would’ve been no questions asked, no, calling the parents. What do you think?

We are rooting for you, Nikko. Don’t sleep on the fact that you are young and can change your mindset. Just vision it and do the steps to get out and find a different purpose and lifestyle. Focus on you. Do the internal work to see what patterns you have that caused this and choose a new pattern. Find the help you need from good people but don’t rely on them. You’re going to have to find work that doesn’t look anything like your lifestyle in the last 10 years. Easier said than done but those of us have done it. So it can be done. Find your strength.

I've been exactly in his place at the exact same age, at 25 when you've had 10+ vehicles and wrecked half of themcad you're addicted to the perk 30s aka pressed fentynal pills, it literally takes a grip on your life. You see hoe he is sniffling a whole lot in the video? He's dope sick, that's why he's having a hard time even putting his words together. I can relate whole heartdly. I just got out of rehab exactly 30 days ago today from the blue 30s, I may be sober now with a total of 60 days, but I still constantly think about getting some and getting high. It is mor strong than heroin, they say it's anywhere from 50x to 100x stronger than heroin. It's a terrible drug. I hate it, but at the same time the absolute euphoric rush it gives you, it's so addicting it's ridiculous, imagine taking like 10 hydrocodones at one time but without the Tylenol in it, the Tylenol its mostly the Tylenol is what makes you sick. 💔

I think if he forgot about number 1 for a change and concentrated ONLY on helping others, he would come out of this just fine. The alternative is self-destruction. Furthermore, if he doesn't get his shit together in the next few years it might be best to stay out of his kids' lives, for their sakes. Otherwise, I could see him leeching off them when they get their first job's pay. I hope he reads this, although I somehow doubt it. ☹

He has been using since 15. He has the emotional maturity of the same age. He hasn't grown and he is only 25. Have some empathy or did you not hear him say his own mother told him it was perfectly fine to sell drugs in her home when she is a medical doctor. I wonder what addiction you have you can't stop? Food, attention, drama, sex, alcohol, pills, street drugs, gambling, or whatever you use excessively to cope with your emotions. The majority of people can't take responsibility or stop overeating food yet you think it is so easy for him to stop taking one of the most addictive street drugs. That is not self pity you heard it is the brain under the weight of toxic substances. Why do you think alcoholics get clean and then get overweight or obese? It's cross addiction. They just find another way to cope.

Nikko, I wish the best for you. I think that you are skimming over your own responsibility in the various scenarios you discussed. I am so so sorry you lost your girlfriend to drugs and had to witness that. That is so traumatic.I hope you can get clean and surround yourself with a new group of friends and support network that do other things besides drugs. Just try to remember why other people in your life set boundaries with you though, and might not want to help. it's hard to want to trust people who are living in the life of active addition. @@ZeroPhilosopher it's the disease of individualism taken to the exteme by a generation of spoiled brats who mistook luck as their own individual ability. A great economy and the fruit of extreme sacrifices by previous generations created a paradise of opportunity, which that generation mistook to be the standard lot in life. Given everything except proper parenting and appreciation for how lucky they were, they not only squandered the wealth in less than one lifetime, they turn around and blame their kids for the consequences. And in one final childish tantrum, they've thrashed around tearing apart and selling off the system that made it all possible, clawing greedily at every dollar they can hoard as they sink into the grave. It's disgustingly disgraceful to watch how their generation goes to the grave. And every generation since that has echoes of their narcissistic spoiled behavior. Inherited wealth, corrupted systems both government and corporate, and poor parenting. F_ck. Boomers. Hopefully when the already rotting skeletons let go of power in government we might have a chance. People can return to a balance of individual and societal responsibility. Maybe. If you look at other chronic diseases of civilization, then the expensive medicines and aids usually do not lead to healing, but rather, if it is not too late, to an understanding of the illness and a change in lifestyle. The drug addicts stand out so negatively because they "no longer function". We need new strategies for dealing with lifestyle/civilization diseases of civilization .

I could be wrong, but something tells me at Nikko's young & impressionable age, he listened to a lot of rap music and watched shows like MTV Cribs. Im saying this because of things he mentioned in this interview and knowing how our subconscious mind works when we expose ourselves over and over to repetitive content. Couple that with a mother that wasn't watching closely (according to Nikko), a mother like me who demanded that that music get turned OFF in the house. When my son started listening to that music genre, I took the time to listen to a few songs, then looked up the lyrics. It was a "Hellllllll-to-the No" moment for me. I sat him down for a serious conversation about my opinions regarding those lyrics plus the videos. I was a pretty flexible mother that gave my son a lot of freedoms, but he knew what he was dealing with when I drew the line. "Garbage In/Garbage Out" Nikko, if you are reading these posts... Find the time (? clear-minded hour or 2), a quiet location (? library) and sit your butt down and write each of your daughters a letter expressing your thoughts and how you are struggling to find your way back to normalcy. You will have to seek a safe place/person to hold onto them for you, to give them those when they are older and able to comprehend. This can be done whether you are still with us or not...and I hope you are.

Love your comment. I was exactly the same with my son. Listened to certain lyrics to music he started to get in to-encouraging drug use/depravity etc. He also started to hang around with a few kids who (although I accepted them. & allowed in the home), were a rather worrying bunch,, so, sat my son down & we talked. Like you, I was a reasonable mum & I loved (love) my son so much & guided him & guarded him with my life. He’s now 32, married, with my gorgeous 6 year old granddaughter, has a good career & he’s happy, balanced & wise. Becoming a parent, when I still young myself, wasn’t something I planned, but the love I felt, was so strong, I did everything in my power to be the best parent I knew how, it was hard, very hard, but it paid off. These kids, well, my heart hurts for them…

Pardon my ignorance but I am confused and looking to learn… I’m always confused when I see “fentanyl addicts.” We’re being taught that it’s the deadliest drug we’ve encountered, with it being easily snuck into other substances and disguised, and being easy to produce, so how does one become addicted without immediate death? Is it due to frequency of opiate usage? Like if they used other substances prior to switching to fentanyl? Didn’t watch the video yet to hear his story yet but it’s a general question. Thank you!

They might do an amount one day and be fine and the next day do the same amount but it’s stronger than the last dose.

Nikko, At 25 you still have a chance. People are flawed and everyone has their own struggles. Your identity can not be found in others. There is one who loves you unconditionally. His name is Jesus. If you seek him with all your heart you will find him.He came to help the sick. He loved on the people cast out by society. He walked the dark hills. Please find a Christian church in the area that has a recovery program and has a heart for people struggling with addiction and life in general. Also, love and accept yourself. Care about yourself enough to really try. Accept that you have made mistakes in your past. But they don’t define you. Stop the guilt and shame cycle! Don’t give up! I am praying for you and for your salvation and freedom from the evil of drug addiction!

Nikko, MSU is an awesome wholesome college and campus, and Springfield is great place to raise a family. I see why it appealed to you. You haven't missed your opportunity. There are resources in Missouri to help you detox, get clean and ultimately surround yourself with a nurturing kinder community. I see you totally thriving in SW Missouri and living a happy sober life. You need to break free of your past, and move forward. Springfield is a very nice place to live, where you will likely find the kind of life and support you've been searching for. It's a very faith based Evangelical Midwestern type of place. Country farm folk too. Suboxone treatment is available all over the country now, and it works well for Fentanyl /opioid abuse. With medical supervision and intervention, you could be tapered off Fentanyl to Suboxone to avoid withdrawals. Nikko help is available and you don't need your family to access Suboxone to move forward and upward. It's your decision my friend.

I'm often wondering watching these interviews, that, if things weren't already bad enough altogether, the large majotity of these people also seem to hesitate little to plant children in these shattered worlds - in the majority quite surely the next generation of humans with that bad starting parameters that the likelihood of them struggling and suffering is very high. Of course you often don't plan for that, and of course the heavy drug use doesn't increase the probability for responsible safer sex, but I can't help to feel sorry for this innocent, vulnerable next generation to be set into these rotten grounds of foster homes, molestation and poverty... 🙁

You have to stop waiting for someone to save you. - to magically make it better. If your not clean you will never get that straight life your looking for. That requires owning your shit taking responsibility of your actions and doing something for yourself for you and no one else! Take care of you first and start your focus there. Little changes makes the big differences. Start with NOW … start changing your ways and start choosing to do better. ..then focus on tomorrow then focus on the next day and then the next - little by little piece by piece. Do not focus on what anyone else and what they thing get shit straight for you and everything else will fall into place but until you get you right nothing will ever be solid for you..
