I just remembered tonight that I used to know Noah. I had no idea he was one of the kids who passed away from fentanyl in hays CISD this year. I went to the same middle school as him, and im pretty sure I sat next to him in my 7th grade math class for a good while. I never really knew him, and unfortunately i don’t remember almost anything about him other than that he was in at least one of my classes in 7-8th grade, but it was still really hard news to hear. As a high schooler myself, I know that a lot of high schoolers are just too stubborn to care when they see stuff like this. Many of them will continue doing drugs because they never think it will be them in this situation; that is, until *they’re* the one overdosing on what they didnt know was actually fentanyl. I really don’t know what it will take for these kids (my peers) to stop dying these totally preventable deaths. And no, that does not mean it was Noah’s fault, or any of the other victims’ fault. Yes, they weren’t making great decisions (which very well could be caused by peer pressure on a teen’s still developing brain), but they had no way of knowing for certain in that moment that the pill they were about to take was laced with fentanyl. And to anyone using this absolutely tragic loss as an excuse to criticize someone’s parenting, blame the victim, blame our current government administration, or whatever else: stop. This is a real human woman who lost her real human son; the child she had raised for almost 16 years. Let her and her family grieve. Rest in peace, Noah Rodriguez.

@@janelrodriguez7543 I just watched this video and I’m so so truly sorry for your loss. I cant imagine nor do I ever want to know the pain you are going thru as a parent. Watching this and the pain in your eyes really hurt my heart. I know the pain of losing my brother to addiction and the pain my mother goes thru everyday. You can do everything to raise your child right but even with that it’s sometimes not enough. With peer pressure and wanting to fit in doing the wrong thing seems right at the time. No one can know every outcome of every situation therefore bad choices are made. EVERYONE, especially the insensitive hypocrites making these horrible comments, have made bad choices. Some obviously are worse than others however no one has the right to judge another. My families loss has changed me forever as I’ll never be the person I once was before my brothers passing. I also have traveled a dark dark road that I had to pull myself out of. I overdosed one time in my mother’s driveway in front of her. It took a lot of counseling, changes and support to get me back on the right track. I will pray for you and your family and I thank you for sharing your painful story. Your son is a beautiful soul that will always protect his family❤

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your son. I will take this opportunity to educate as many people as I can. This killer drug is everywhere. I hope we can save more people with these kinds of stories and bring awareness. 🙏 thank you for sharing your experiences. Your son will be remembered for being a beautiful soul.

Naloxone is the active ingredient in Narcan and is also available in many generics as a nasal spray. In fact, the brand name Kloxxado delivers a higher dose of naloxone than Narcan (Kloxxado-8mg per dose, Narcan-4mg per dose). Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available in the brand name Narcan or generic versions available for free. It is important to recognize that Naloxone is the drug, Narcan is just a brand name. Whenever someone uses the word "Narcan" in place of "naloxone", they're devaluing all the other equally effective brand options and promoting a specific pharmaceutical company.

So sorry for this family. It's not the parents fault. I tell my sons constantly how much it sucks for kids these days...that in my time we could experiment and try things, but now with this, one pill can kill. I can only hope they listen to me.
