One thing that I didn't hear is to consider weather conditions. Consider this when storing as well. If in cold conditions you may need to keep batteries warm and a charge on them when in storage. This is the recommendation for carts in MN.

never drove a golf cart til about 2008 and didn't know what I was missing, electric are heavier, smoother, better traction, and I use mine to power my PC, one light, security system and a few minor things for up to 20hrs during power outages using a 800 watt inverter. That's without running the two batteries connected too low (for 12V to 120V inverter) . I have it rigged for quick plug change from power co. source to golf cart. I've also pulled downed trees, trailers, (2" ball on back), pushed cars, and I even slid a semi trailer 6' sideways by the landing gear after putting the landing gear on an I beam. I have two 90's electric yamahas and one gas and a club car carry all. The yamaha gas is fun cause you can do donuts and zip around faster. My batteries have lasted 12 years now (NAPA), add water to the line at the bottom ring of the fill hole no matter what anyone says. Dilution helps keep sulfate from precipitating. No wonder all these people who claim only 3 years battery life after chronically just filling to cover the plates. They run the batteries too concentrated and sulfate precipitates and builds on the plates. I also add 25ml 20% sulfuric acid (battery acid) per cell every 3-4 years. I know they say not to do this but that's because they don't have too many chemists messing with batteries and don't want the liability. It takes a while with either water filling or acid to stabilize until it all mixes well. (usually a month for me) . The stable voltage after charge will be higher/less amp hrs, or lower/ more amp hrs depending on concentration dilution, or volume, of electrolyte as your batteries go from full to lower, Just adjust your charge times to always shoot for 80% SOC (state of charge) and charge when it gets down to 72% I think, I forget, look at an SOC chart online. edit: sorry, deleted my volt readings because my dash gauge is 0.5V off.

One thing I would add is that the double a arm suspension that club car uses handles a lot better on the road and at high speed then the E-Z-Go or Yamaha solid axle. I know you can buy a lift kits for all of the carts that will put a arms on but the club car comes that way if you don't want to do a lift.

Great video I have a club car refurb and I am very pleased with it. I have a question. The cables on the battery's look small to me. If I put heavier gauge wires will it help with torque. Its a 6 seater.
@goldenlife98563 жыл бұрын
Stock cables on a Club Car are way too small. I put 2/O welding cables on mine and it made a huge difference in speed and torque. The stock cables are fine for riding around on a golf course but if you want to use the thing you need to do the upgrade. And if you can make the cables yourself you'll save a huge amount of money or just crimping terminals and putting on heat shrink

I've looked for weeks in the Myrtle Beach area for a Club Car Precedent project, but I just can't find anything. I’m new to golf carts. Went to a store that sells new and refurbished. One had a lot of play in the steering wheel. I told my wife just like a car , it has an issue with the steering. The salesman said he would have it tightened up. I raised the BS flag. My question is “how long do these electric motors last.what are the replacement cost for and ergo motor?
@Fentertainment2 жыл бұрын
Oem motors can last for 30+ Years. Its like anything and how you take care of it. Usually the gasoline engines on golf carts wear out faster. The replacement cost of electric motors can be had from $350 and Up. You can do an AC swap for like $1800 give or take and will give you a new motor with controller. The ac swaps will give you more adjustability, speed, torque and security. I have videos on fixing the steering play on club car golf carts but I will say that play in the steering shaft is usually a worn out tie rod or steering knuckle. There isnt much to the steering on golfcarts since its manual and could replace all 4 tie rod ends for about $50. This goes back to the you can build a cool cart with upgraded features how you want for the same as you could buy a refurbished cart with mostly stock parts from a dealer. Also when you build the cart, You will take pride in doing it and learn so much. Then if anything goes wrong, you can fix it. I have a bunch on golf cart videos, Its my hobby!

Why are golf carts dummy expensive. I can go buy a old ford ranger or whatever for like 600 bucks than I can put 300 bucks into it and some work and get it running and that's still under a 6th of the price of a decent golf cart
@alphonsemonthei88782 жыл бұрын
No kidding! 2 years ago I bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with V8 and locking differentials for $4000. I just ordered a new 6 seater golf cart with lithium batteries for $14,000 after not seeing any used ones priced under $12,000 around me. I paid more for my new golf cart than the last 2 cars I’ve bought. Cart pricing is ridiculous
@curtchase37302 жыл бұрын
I hear ya, crazy 4 sure, BUT, there are a bunch of factors involved. Supply/Demand. Not as many carts made as Ford Ranger's. Niche' market. Carts were made to drive on turf, Ford Ranger's, not so much. Can't park my old Ranger in my garden shed either. I know, I went to our "local" cart dealer. Everything in showroom priced from $6500-15,000! So it goes. They had some early 2000's Club Cars, gas out in the back lot that looked quite sad. Even those (project carts) going for over $4000.00 cash/carry off lot! Nuts.
