I got it from a shop and the lead acid batteries were manufactured in April 2024. I still want lithium, but it will be lightly used so I’ll wait to see if it worth upgrading now or is I should wait until the current batteries run their course.

You did see a Navitas controller! Its just the stock replacement....although the thought of the inlaws doing wheelies and drag racing their friends sounds hilarious. You'd have to check the amperage rate of the mods you want and see if it matches the discharge rate (sometimes noted as the C rating.)

Nice video ty! I gotta ask, the charger you have a link for is not far from $500.00, that's a rather steep price for me. I'm a bit confused on converting to lithium: can I get a charger with that "D" shaped connection or do I need to remove the seat with each charge? Also, do I get a 36v charger or does a "smart charger " simply know what it's connected to? I'm sorry for asking so many questions lol
@BootstrapRevival9 ай бұрын
Great questions! I often see (and have bought) those chargers used on eBay. A the white tag has the model number on it. If you can find a 30600 it will charge 36 or 48 and do lead acid/AGM/Lithium profiles. These chargers (and others) have the option of using the D plug - but the charger would be off the cart. Think of mounting it to the wall in your garage then plugging the D cable in. I mounted mine onboard so I carry it wherever it goes. I converted it to us a standard extension cord in place of the D connector. I hope this helps. I'm thrift too. If you look around and get creative I'm sure you can save a few bucks!

How exactly did the charger sent up to for your Lester’s charger. Mine runs into a low voltage fault. Not sure what to do?? Might have to go to a different charger
@BootstrapRevival9 ай бұрын
I used the generic lester lithium profile. I ignored the lester app and watched the BMS app to see it cut off in bound voltage and not over charge. It has not been an issue with the battery. I do know different lester models allow for different profiles (meaning some don't allow for lithium charging).
@JeffersDIY9 ай бұрын
Are the different profiles selectable through the charger app or do you have to order the charger profile specific? I just noticed the amazon adds do not say anything about the profiles. Thanks@@BootstrapRevival

Installed one of these CHINS for the Mother-in-Law. Pretty good I must say, stock everything else. 2008 EZGO TXT-PDS. I didn't want her to need to open an app to monitor status and installed an LiTime Monitor with Shunt. I may not have ever known there was an issue had I not installed the add-on monitor but the REGEN is apparently not regenning.... the LiTime monitor records the REGEN amps going back to the battery (which is reporting 99% Remaining) but BMS is reporting 62% remaining (kinda what I expect without the regen). Haven't found a tweak to remove the regen calculation for the status in the monitor or on the battery to accept the regen charge. Any thoughts?

We are using the Lester 2 charger with the generic 36v lithium profile. Between the onboard battery BMS and the lester it has been working fine. The only odd thing is the lester app shows over voltage, but the battery app shows that BMS turns the charge off at the right voltage. I suspect Lester might have a profile update as more of these inexpensive batteries come on the market. We will be at the in-laws house in a few days for the Holidays and I'm going to give it a good once over again. Hey, I bought the same battery and put it in a 2001 EZGO TXT series cart. The only accessories are a light kit and radio. But it does have 20” tires on it. The cart runs fine but the range is nowhere near what you’re getting. The best I’ve gotten is 27-28 miles with the battery reading 23% remaining. Thing is, I’m afraid to discharge it any farther as once it drops below 50% the voltage seems to drop off pretty quickly. And I’m not pushing it, my average speed is around 12 to 14 mph. That sounds like a lot but the bigger tires seem to give it more speed. Another 2-3 miles would be all it takes to run it out. Got any ideas why the mileage is so poor? I keep hearing guys talking about 40 - 50 mile ranges. I can’t figure it out.
