Feral cats are a huge problems in Australia they are the reason for extinction of 35 native Aussie species which are not found anywhere in the world also 240+ are endangered eradication of feral cats in Australia is necessary to save native animals.Long Live Australia🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

i would find a better way as tryng to take all feral cats to theyr natural ambient as its fault of uk that now killing cats is an must in australia
@johnmead843710 ай бұрын
That did the job. Interesting why it was a back foot catch (which is probably better), first impression being a front paw expected. Would be good to know how to get them by the power end, or if just luck of the draw. Any reason springs aligned with the lead-in instead of across with dog to tree? Any non-target bait exclusion/reduction ideas? The species would be interesting. Am doing a few when they get irritating and have found they do learn about the cages if not very clinical, and many experts don't detect the misses or reasons. They are a nuisance when live trapping other animals, & leg holds are most effective but a risk to the target critters.
@PredatorTrapping10 ай бұрын
Usually the front foot is the intended target but cats have an amazing ability to not step on the pan! Part of the set design is that the bait/lure is far enough past the trap that they go over it with both front and back feet, doubling the chance of making the catch. The trap is oriented that way so the guiding sticks don’t interfere with the firing trap. Off target avoidance includes cover over the top to reduce visibility to birds. Increased pan tension so that small animals won’t set the trap off. In the warmer months, meat baits will attract goannas so it’s best to avoid using meat at that time of year.
@johnmead843710 ай бұрын
@@PredatorTrapping Suggest positioning trap with sprigs crosswise & guide material either side of springs is something to consider (not much gap is needed). In theory a cleaner chance of full paw catch & less trap dog and spring interference with the paw. Seems to make some difference using a similar usually uncovered or partially covered set for possums. getting dozens a day. If on eradication & obliged to use soft jaws, setting another trap on the edge of the chain radius circle will usually get a 2 paw catch for a bit of insurance.

@@GTFBITK Leg hold trapping & dispatching are contentious issues for some. Perhaps frivolous comment, but some will take it seriously and use it for activism against this technique for pest control. Traps, poison & shooting can all be subject to criticism, reducing the ammunition by being as ethical as possible in the circumstances reduces the potential for validating anti trap lobbyists criticism. Same applies to shooting & poisoning & dogging, all have their place for getting rid of pests, although commonly not used to best advantage..

@@PredatorTrapping Across the ditch some breeders have imported Bengals at least. Mini leopards, clouded colour scheme with true wild animal genes. Local breeders stud Tom was in poor condition for recovering the reward offered (despite being 55gr heavier) but the colour pattern is now evident in the local few ferals. A real risk for the flightless birds, but potentially beautiful bedspreads. Have noticed a few Aus shooting vids with the marbled tabby pattern & big size, so they might be there too.

In some places animal welfare guidelines reject that method. Irrespective of the merits of such ideas, (& the technique can be rapid with low stress time/pain) minimising animal welfare lobby opposition helps the future of hunting. The more emotional opposition has little merit, but does have votes.
