Ferdinand has better DPM and armour though, much better suited as assault heavy. But Ka-Ri is much better in today's playstyle

@@carrymesenpai3276 I can vouch that Ferdinand STILL has better armour, which does matter, it just seems many can't use it properly. If we talk about legacy, I came from times when Ferdinand had just 1200 hp, there was no gold rounds for credits etc. I used to be Ferdinand companies' commander. We've faces all kinds of t8 opposition (but mainly mindless hordes of IS-3, which is the easiest part) and can safely assure you that Ferdinand is better than any t8 heavy of that time in heavy role. Ofc he's better in other roles too, you can't do sniping or fire support or holding a corner as effectively in other vehicle.

Iyo, get this, the whole reason I started playing WOT is because I was researching my favorite tank the Elefant, which is a upgraded Ferdinand. I ran across a mighty jingles video and the game looked like so much fun! So that is why I downloaded it to try it back in 2013. So at first my goal was to get to the Ferdinand. I ground straight up to it and I was terrible in it. lol Stock, with no crew, and crying. I bought the Dicker max to train my crew up, and put the tank on hold for a while. That was my silver and xp grinder, and the reason I have my most games in the Dicker Max. 1188 oddly enough. But also 45% Win rate. 489 average experience. I still kind of struggle with it, it is tough for me to not be team dependent in it. My Ferdinand is about the same. 45% WR and 591 average experience. I should work hard on raising their stats at some point. The Ferdinand was a product of Porsche from the failed tiger project that is in the game as the tiger P. They put a casemate on it so they could mount the flak 88 and get it to the battlefield. It had a running gear like the trains of the day. It was an electric driven vehicle hybrid and the engines powered the battery charger! It had a lot of teething problems. But it looks so cool! So nice seeing you enjoy this tank! Yes I really admire Mainland for his love of it! He is incredible in it! You are too! This is great to watch! The Elefant is the same as the Ferdi but it has 100mm frontal armor added and a frontal machine gun added. It has wider tracks, and a cupola. I was always hoping they would add it as a premium or something. But they haven't yet. The Ferdinand was sent to the battle of Kursk and we all know how that went, but had amazing kill rates. They shipped back the ones they could and converted them, and that is when the H man named them Elefant so they fit in with his other animal vehicle names. Then they were shipped down south toward Italy to fend off the allies pushing up through that. Which was all for not at that point. The Allies dominating the air made anything compromised. But the tank it just looks awesome and intimidating! Thanks for this feature!

@@JuliusClaudius it can be hit and counts as spaced armor. It will absorb pretty much all heat shells, but ap and apcr can still pen through the gun. In the middle of the screen bellow the reticle you can see it says 246(the pen of the shell)/233 (effective armor at the point you are aiming) which meant he had lilke 55% chance to pen with ap through the gun and cupola there. Its a mod you can get that displays effective armor like that

I recently play Jagtiger (kind like Ferdinand in style of play) and bro, i love it! I have never played TDs without turret (honestly, 29k games and played last time with triangle at my start of game) and Jagtiger is so strong! This gun - ammunition (AP/APCRs), penetration (352 on gold), shell velocity, gun accurancy, alfa and dpm is nuts! Love it :). I played 92 battles and have 3000 avg damage on it.

It was never penetrated frontally not even once IRL, yes. ISU-152 destroyed one Ferdinand by killing a crew, because its heavy bunker-buster shell made one 100 mm plate (of two, that's how it has 200mm frontal upper hull) to crash and kill the men inside. Still not penetrated.

Well yeah, You get penned easily with standard now too because the average penetration has increased. Back then 200-220 was considered good for tier 8. Now 200-220 is mid. The superstructure can bounce some standard shells but the shoulder gets penned by everything so if they removed that weakspot the armor could work a bit better.

Other powerful vehicle can use player own skill + knowledge to cooperate with vehicles to cause more damage. But Ferdinand can't do that, and the damage it can get is only from what the game is willing to give you. This is why most people hate this kind of vehicle that depends on the situation.

It's not obsolete though. Also, 300 hp buff + introduction of improved hardening (+150 additional hp with survivability slot making it to total 1650 hp) made him rock. Since I was Ferdinand companies commander, we always felt that we are the best tier VIII heavy tank in the game, which was true, we laughed when we encountered mindless similar IS-3 companies, so easy. And it was back when Ferdinand had just 1200 hp and much lower ACPR pen, mind you.

The thing is you from 10 games u play 3-4 games vs tier 10 and at best 1-2 at tier 6(where there is a big chance that your team is full of bots and u lose in 2-3 minutes resulting in u getting rushed by 6 ppl) not considering u can play vs tier 10 when u are stock which in my opinion shouldnt be a thing. I have to disagree with you on the + -2 mm deal. Yeah its fun then your top tier but its not fun for those who are bottom tier. Its extremely noticeable with tier 6 vs 8 as most of them just cant do much if anything. + -1 mm would give everyone more of a fair fight and not be deemed useless.
