You found the contrast on the 92. I was here cheering you on! :) I hate it, but the 92 has a screen that just isn't as good as the 92+. But it may be possible to swap them (but why not get a 92+ instead?) I have the add-on module in one of my 92s. I lucked out on a purchase and it was tucked away inside of the 92. I like the 92 because it has the exposed header(homebrew hardware anyone?) I bought several of the 92+ units and the four that I have checked out so far all had dead batteries in them. One with batteries from 2006! No leaks, and no dead columns. :) That is a beautiful HP71B! I just picked up a nearly mint Casio fx-890P from Japan myself. :) Flying Bear makes 3D printers. I bought one for my son. :) Have you ever done a repair video on the Sharp PC-1600. I have one that is intermittent.

The only time I would think about swapping a 92+ CLD into a 92 is if I had a 92+ parts machine with good LCD. It would be interesting to see if it would work. I have a few PC-1600s I need to get around to repairing, so there will be videos on those.

@@HeyBirt So I bought 7 "untested" 92+ calculators, and only one was a dud (not bad at all for $16.99 each, shipping included!). It's yours if you want it (of course I have no idea as to the quality of the display, so you're on your own, pilgrim...) Oddly enough this batch of three did not have batteries in them (your video reminded me that I needed to check them, Thanks!).

So is the issue with the TI92 screen a ribbon delamination/bonding issue similar to on a Gameboy LCD? I’ll be interested to see how the repair attempts go.

Yes, same type of failure. I have the supplies to try and do the repair, now I just need the time :)
