Almost cried in happiness seeing this video on my feed today… bless you

Wanted to drop a note of gratitude for you taking time to make a color coded diagram. Seriously! This is making my EVAP refresh a lot less daunting. Working on refreshing a Sportcross.

Glad to be of help to the is300 fam. Congrats on getting a rear AF sportcross. If you wind up doing rear suspension I hope you can post a video on getting all the interior trim out of the way without cracking stuff, it's so much more work than the base model afaict.

FYI, the "lump in the Trunk" is held with 10mm from the underside, long Ex and you can get them without dropping anything. Thanks for the video I have the evap diagram if you want as well
@kidicarus26372 ай бұрын
thanks for the correction. I've since seen a video where they undo all the nuts from the inderside, that is certainly an option. Badly cramped space for sure. I have the evap diagram but felt the color code makes things more clear, and expanding on what some of these parts do can demystify the whole black-box problem. Cheers!

Great video. Do you have a part number for the fuel leveler gaskets on the gas tank?
@kidicarus2637Ай бұрын
got it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJnZaWeDbrigfqs 77169-14020 Fuel Sender Gauge gasket def a high suspect imo

This is a really good video for the evap system! I do have a question though, would this same troubleshooting process also help resolve a P0456 error as well? Its a small leak in EVAP system and im not sure where to start. Thanks!
@kidicarus26379 ай бұрын
Hi @derpaull, glad the video is helping. Small leaks will be somewhere in this path. For these kinds of problems, I like to let them get worse - makes them easier to find. Focus more debug on areas with the most heat. Good luck.

Sorry, I would need a cut up car to properly display everything. Perhaps someday ;P

I have a P0442 code that disappeared when i put a aem gas cap which i will switch to oem sometime soon, however, i have a p0446 that hasn’t disappeared and it appeared after i had filled my car up, probably the day after when i was just sitting in the car idling and yes i kept pressing the gas pump after it had stopped, which i didn’t know was bad to do at the time, which leads me to believe it was my charcoal canister. What are your guys thoughts and steps to address whether it’s something else? (the code had disappeared when i pushed the car, going fast, and i didn’t clear it, Then reappeared after a few days to a week.
@kidicarus2637Ай бұрын
If you flooded the charcoal canister it will eventually dry. Climate/warmer weather is a factor on all sides of this. Good call on the gas cap (first line fix).

where are you located need some help on my 03 is300, got p0440 3 weeks ago replace my gas cap now i get p0441 and p0456.
@kidicarus26379 ай бұрын
I'm in about 4 time zone per week, so not able to provide direct support. You might start with areas that have the most heat (upper part of engine bay). Good luck!

@@kidicarus2637 thanks, replaced 2 of my VENTILATION hose that was cracked seem to fix it, no codes came back after 1 month so far.

Can i use silicone hose from a vacuum kit for evap line replacement?
@kidicarus26379 ай бұрын
I would NOT advise that. Anything for the evap system needs to be a Fuel rated vacuum hose, it will be a real pain to debug all over again due to wrong materials.

Do you have the part number for hose near the foot pedal? Im trying to fix the evap code
@kidicarus263711 ай бұрын
actually, I just used a section of fuel rated hose and some fresh hose clamps. buy ~1 foot at the parts store. MUST be fuel rated. I think that one is 3/8 ID

Hey man I have a question. What is the part number for the vacuum hose that is connected to this 20:51 ? I'm talking about the shorter U-shaped one that connects to the intake. I recently did a timing belt job on my car, and that hose was rock solid, and a big chunk of it cracked and fell off. Great video btw. I finally figured out what my issue was with the weirdly low idle after the timing belt job. I watched this (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaGVfJqNe8qki5osi=bm0qufLBe3x5mVfD&t=599) video for the VVTi rebuild, and the guy doesn't tell you to mark the cam gear cap to line up the holes correctly. After I did the timing belt job, my car has been idling way too low and only revs up to 1100rpm during cold starts. Hopefully, I will figure out my EVAP issue too from this video. I bought my IS300 with a P0440 CEL for an EVAP leak and I've been trying to figure out what could be the issue. Awesome video thanks again.
@kidicarus26374 ай бұрын
Glad you made progress on the idle issue. That cam gear is laser aligned by the factory so def go all out to mark the assembly before pulling it apart. As for the hose, I don't buy dealer parts for those things as I have a substock or 3/8 and 5/8 fuel rated vacuum hoses. You can generally get the shape you want without a kink if you run things a little long and or creatively. For sure, a brittle hose with cracked ends was a theme on all of my early 2000's cars.
That snorkel in the canister you speak of, I smoked the system and smoke came out of the snorkel. Is that normal?
@kidicarus26377 ай бұрын
Good question. I have not tried that BUT refer to the video about what is normally open and what is normally closed. You will probably see smoke when car is off but sealed when car is on (guessing)? If the valve(s) between your test point and the snorkel were in an open state, you could see some blow off. Side tip -- avoid strong vacuum when testing (only use hand pumps - machine vacuums could cause damage) and never use a shop compressor to test these components (too high pressure).
