With the engine now separated we dismantled it, removing the head, sump, pistons and crankshaft etc. We found a mixture of results - cylinder sleeves are servicable, but big end bearings are severely worn. So the engine would have been knocking when it was running. The most concerning thing is the state of the oil and the foreign materials in it. I'm really glad we didn't decide to attempt to run this engine before rebuilding it.
Our channel sponsor ww.anglo-agripa... will be supplying the parts for the rebuild and now we can start ordering the parts.
Waterhouse Forde is our channel sharing the various projects we get up to as a family. The current project is the restoration of this Ferguson tractor. Very pleased that the restoration has moved on to rebuilding the engine. Last summer I purchased the complete kit from Anglo including the crankshaft and I am now ready to commence assembly. I have a particular interest in preventing oil leaks so I will delay work until I have the benefit of your excellent guidance. It will probably be no more than a couple of weeks. You are your son make an excellent working team with Oscar asking the good questions. Best wishes for 2020 and keep up the good work. Jim Hehir

Hi Jim thank you again for your kind words. It is a fantastic encouragement to hear how our videos are of value to folks like yourself. I’m a bit daunted, but I will do my best when we get to the reassembly. I’m afraid it may be a bit more than a couple of weeks, we’ve still got ALL the cleaning to do!! We are very excited about 2020 and we wish you and all our followers a joy filled year!

Hi, I'm new to your channel and really enjoying what I have seen. I've been a long time subscriber to Lance the "Bundy Bear" It's like heaven at the moment for me watching his videos on his tea20 engine rebuild in frame and your videos. I have a tea20 and have all this to do on the engine and some of the shots and angles you have covered are very helpful in understanding the process and ways of working. On the discolouration of the white metal bearings on the crankshaft, I wondered if at some point the tractor has had a modern oil with additives that has caused this. I seem to remember reading that modern oil is not good for old type bushes when I was looking to replace my oil on my tractor when I 1st got it. Keep up the good work. I am a few months behind at the moment but will catch up soon. Regards Dave

Hi Dave, thank you and welcome to the channel! Lance is a great mentor and inspiration for us! I enjoy his style of video and his personality! Of course he actually knows what he’s doing, whereas we’re just hobbyists finding our way through 😉 Its great to hear that our videos are helpful to people! 👍 Yea I think you may be right about that discolouration, to be honest this tractor has not been “loved” much in it’s life, from what I can tell. It’s just as well they were built to last hey! Good luck with your TEA20, these are great little machines, very well engineered and actually quite easy to work on. Keep watching, and ‘tell your friends’ 😉.

Apologies Antonio, I don't speak Spanish, but I assume from the few words I do recognise that you are working on a TE20 as well. Good luck and thanks for watching. 👍🏻

Do you know if there are washers under the cylinder head nuts?
@WaterhouseForde

Hi Richard, most definitely. They are quite thick flat washers. Hope this helps. 😉👍

@@WaterhouseForde thanks, just about to refit the cylinder head, I noticed with my head bolts - 4 washers, strangely, unfortunately i never photographed the removal. As reference I watched your video for clues. Cheers Richard

Ye they have a habit of going missing 🤣. If you measure the ones you have, you can normally order replacements online. I use Spalding fasteners. They seem to carry most nuts, bolts, washers and studs etc. Delivery is usually quick too.
