Out of all the things you're doing that I love, (I have to say your replace and keep for repair, sand & weather idea is sound thinking) I can't help loving that mirror on the exhaust as it's just so sensible in terms of safety especially today when the standard of driving (along with the patience of most drivers) is just so low. Much respect from Glasgow, Scotland

Fascinating watching fergy coming back to life,Adrian,,you could put a yard scrapper on it,the diff pedals need adjusting up about 45mm,years ago grand father had one,petrol/tvo,I learnt at six years old ,dad made some wooden blocks on brake and clutch so I could reach,and the rest is history,old fertiliser bag filled with straw make a nice seat 😀

Another great video again Adrien seeing you replace the thermostat has made me realise my Dexta has never had one either then, also seeing you change the seat reminded me of changing mine but unlike your original seat mine was from a Ford transit van what a great day that was getting rid of that horrible seat.

Great video Adrian, good to see the old Fergie being restored, I have a grey gold 4 cylinder that was my grandads, I've done her up mechanically over 7 years but its just started loosing compression so needs attention, I love working on it and use it for lots of jobs, bet my 6480 wont still be going in 60 plus years!

Your doing a great job on the little beauty, what you could you with the dash is to spot weld in the holes and the edges with the new mig welder and flappy disk it smooth again. As for the fuel tank, you can "borrow" the wife's red food dye and fill the tank with water and the dye and see where the dye comes from.

That tractor will turn out well don’t worry about a cowling on the radiator as you won’t be working it hard enough to matter and when the bonnet is closed you cannot see it I restored a tvo one 20 years ago for match ploughing. I put Pirelli radials on it for traction at matches in wet weather. They don’t look right but it will pull the plough better than newer ones with correct style cross plies with diff locks

Owatrol oil is what you need to preserve the patina ! Paints on like an oil, leave it under cover away from dust and debris for a day or two and it'll dry clear but not too glossy - darkens rust like diesel would but its ! Bit more permanent!

Bit of a tip for you, when oiling for drilling if you put it on the start of the flutes of the drill bit it will gradually make its way down to the piece you are drilling and it will be more constant oil rather than a puddle of oil on the piece For the seat to be in keeping with the rest of her a ration bag full of straw would be best keep you warm and comfy 😉

I would sooner use a oil/ diesel mix sprayed on to preserve the patina than clear coat it. If you clear coat it you might just as well paint it in my opinion.
@IFarmWeFarm

Why does the clear coat put you of? See the one issue I have with an oil diesel mix is that it would be cover in dust and dirty to handle.
@paulf2529

@@IFarmWeFarm the clear coat will get chipped and to me always looks a bit shiny. The oil diesel does attract dust at first but you can just shift this with a old paint brush and air line. I prefer the slightly mat look of the oil and diesel by comparison .

sorry but it's not 'always gonna be safer with a thermostat in'. thermostats fail - if they fail in the closed position, no water flows thru the radiator and the engine can overheat. if you don't fit the thermostsat you are never going to have it jammed closed. so no thermostat means NO overheating. you are so very welcome.
