Tony in his prime broke his opponents. I just don't think he has it anymore due to age and waitn so long to fight khabib but damn do I miss him . He will always be one of my favorite fighters in UFC.

He looked significantly slower after the surgery. I feel like that was the beginning of the end. He didn't look as good against Pettis and Cowboy as he did against RDA and Barboza.

Yea he did look amazing against barboza, dos anjos and lee , but the two fights you just named were my two very favorite of tony , i rewatch them whenever i can ...he overcame adversity with pettis getting almost knocked out and came back like a champ, and against cowboy , he looked freakin amazing , so i really dont know what your talking about ...and yea he started losing after that against a new draft of crazy good fighter that were aiming for the belt , so i guess the drive and motivation against gaethje, oliveira , dariush , chandler and finally nate diaz (replacement), he was overwhelmed by that , and took great punishment against gaethje that changed him after ...tony is the kind of guy thay kills or be killed . Tony was Dana's favorite fighter to watch fight one time ...

On top of age two things led to Tony's decline. Firstly that horrific knee injury from the wire, which I feel he rushed himself back from with over training. Secondly cutting weight twice before the Gaethje fight which was a pretty dumb and fruitless move

I was such a fan of Pettis and really believed he was going to be a long lasting champion. I was still a fan even during the downfall, but seeing this fight announced had me so hyped. I wish this fight was able to continue. I do believe if it kept going Tony would have finished Pettis, even if his hand wasn't compromised.

Between the surgery and the damage taken, it was only a matter of time until it all caught up. The Gaethje fight sealed it though. Tony's still an absolute legend but needs to call it a career. Pettis too, but with Pettis I think it's always been an issue with his style. He should've adopted more of a wrestling base like I'm pretty sure he mentioned he almost did but his fights wouldn't have been as exciting. He's only 35, 36 and looks cooked.
