ROFLMAO! Yeah, because Gudas had the audacity to cheer in Woll's face. The reality is, Reaves is going to be a anchor on the Leafs 4th line, for 5 minutes a night, every game. $1.35 million for 3 seasons because Gudas cheered in Woll's face. That is pathetic.

@@DaaaaaBears So many Leafs fans are still mad that Gudas yelled in poor little Joey Woll's face, just like these guys. That's why they are getting boners over Ryan 4th line Reaves. This isn't the 90's, teams can't really afford to have a "goon" anymore. He is irrelevant in todays NHL. Next time Gudas is mean, or Bennett is playing hard guys like Domi or Bertuzzi could have a word with him. Reaves is a dinosaur.

@@carletonrutherford1799 I’m a big fan of the Bertuzzi and Domi signing but both of them would get their eyes pumped shut by bennett and many other players, they’re not there to retaliate. A guy like reaves on the bench makes everyone play bigger and makes opponents think twice he’s valuable if used properly. Reaves isn’t coming in to play full season 10 min a night lol

Idea for extending OT and eliminating the shootout...What if they made overtime continuous until the 5 min mark, but still resumes. Once the 5 mins is up if 3 on 3 hasn't provided a goal, the next whistle or stop of play would extend the overtime by 2 mins, with a 4 on 3 powerplay for the Home team. If the home team doesn't score in that 2 min, then the horn would sound. The away team would then have a 4 on 3 powerplay for 2 mins...if neither teams score, the process would repeat with 5 on 3 powerplays. After that idk what could happen...repeat the 5 on 3 powerplays. Summary: Continuous 3on3 overtime, if no goal occurs before 5 minutes, play after the 5 mins will continue until a whistle or stoppage of play. If no goal occurs until that stoppage of play, the home team is awarded a 2min 4on3 powerplay. Icing would still count on the penalized team. Once the 2 mins is complete, if no goal occurs, play would stop. The away team would then get a 4on3 powerplay. If the away team does not score in 2 mins, the play would stop and the home team would then get a 5on3 powerplay. Repeat for away team. If no goal occurs, the powerplays would continue until a goal is scored.

Here is my idea for eliminating shootouts and teams ragging the OT: 1) you have 10 min OT, i dont care if it is 3vs3 or 5vs5 but 2) in this system win in reg - 2 points, win in OT 1 point, but tie after OT - 0 points for both teams. Imo, make getting to OT a tiebreak for PO's after reg wins, goal diff, maybe after that more OT's goes trough. I think this would increase rushes for regulation wins (more value), but this would remove the cushy option to work out a point and get a chance for another on shootout. On OT you would only have a point or nothing at all.

To explain the Ryan Reaves effect, while he played in Vegas for 2 and a half years he had to participate in 9 fights. The following year, Keegan Kolesar (the desginated fighter) had to fight 9 fights IN ONE YEAR. Ryan Reaves does not have to fight, hes more of a "cooler" from Round House. He knows how to descalate the other team, while escalating his own team. Plus hes a locker room all timer. Huge reason why Vegas locker room is the way it is, and he hasnt played here for 2+ years

I heard Norm Ulman, from eons ago, was like that. Apparently he developed a reputation in the AHL, and by the time he came to the NHL few wanted to fight him. I *do* remember Ullman skating into scrums and the scrums all of a sudden settling down, so maybe there's something to that.

Your absolutely right and I've heard of other people say ohhh well he's useless in the playoffs. My argument to that is with the reaves effect the stars on the team get messed with less, hopefully leading to them being a little less banged up going in. That has real and tangible effects on a team even if he's not in the lineup. Even if reaves adds 5 percent of healthiness to a team that could bring them from 85 percent healthy to 90 percent healthy entering the playoffs I'll take that. Simmons was supposed to provide that but couldn't do it alone. Reaves will have other people like bertuzzi and domi to help back him up

Can't wait for the Maple Laughs to realize Reeves won't even play in the playoffs when all the pushing and shoving will happen

I think their thought process is you have the threat of him going in so it MAY deter some stuff. Reaver is buriable if it doesnt work out he's over 35 but does not have a 35 plus contract. If he goes down to the ahl it's only 200 k against the cap. Honestly even if he doesn't play if the playoffs there is still benefits to having him for the regular season. If he deters some teams from getting up to antics and that prevents injuries or lessens the wear and tear in the regular season, we may see a healthier squad going into the playoffs.

There’s never been a hockey sentiment I disagree with more than a blanket “the higher the scoring, the better”. You can have fun high scoring games and boring high scoring games that were over in the first period. You can have exciting white knuckle 2-1 games and boring low scoring affairs where nothing gets going. It’s far more about a game with good flow and meaningful goals than it is about shear number.
