Great vid mate! I pressure ferment in the Fermentasaurus myself and was thinking about getting a tilt for gravity readings. You've now convinced me to get one. Love ya work🍻

It's a cool and handy device

Good find. I was wanting to do this too. I understand that the tilt capsule is sealed to prevent liquid from entering. So it is at atmospheric pressure inside. When the vessel is pressurized inside of the capsule is a zero atm. It will be more bouyant and slightly rise. You need to calibrate at your fermentation pressure.

Yes I can calibrate it. Bit I just take the reading minus about 4. Then when the beer is over I do a FG reading with the hydrometer.

Good video - I have the fermentasaurus and a Tilt - something cool about seeing teh SG readings drop remotely

Yes it's a super cool invention.

I find with my fermentasaurus that when I dry hop and put pressure back into the system the Hops drop down to the bottom. I don't know what your experience has been. I do like to swirl The Vessel and get the house back into suspension a few times during dry hopping. I have had a couple of times where the pickup tube was blocked. All I had to do was swap over my liquid line connection to the CO2 line and blow a little CO2 back through the tube and it worked fine. I look forward to more videos on this because I've been thinking about getting a couple of those till hydrometers for my fermentasaurus vessels. Cheers! 👍🍻

I do have some thoughts about that. And dry hopping is one area I will experiment more with. Cheers mate.

I don't get it. Do you have to add 5 to the measured amount or subtract from it, to get the real value? In the video it seems like it measures a lower value, so you have to add. But then you say, you have to subtract from the measurement. Which one is it?
@DrHansBrewery Жыл бұрын
The pressure pressures the Tilt down so it lowers the value.

Dr Hans. Love your content. I have started pressure fermenting due to your channel and I love it. Question regarding Tilt and pressure fermenting. I’m currently using a Fermzilla and utilize a tilt to follow my gravity. I typically pressure ferment at 15psi and it’s been working well. However I’ve been trying to double check my FG with a refractometer after my fermentation is complete and the numbers are so far apart. Last brew, my Tilt stopped at 1.003, which according to your video should put the actual FG around 1.007, however when I tried to double check with my refractometer it was reading 1.019! I took a sample from a picnic tap and attempted to remove carbonation by shaking etc. even let it sit for another 24 hrs to see it it would make a difference but it didn’t. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Do you ever double check your FG after pressure fermenting? Thanks again for the great videos.

Nice video Johnny!! The co2 you get in you beer fermenting under pressure, how much does that affecting the tilt? Cheers!👍🍺😛

Good question. I would guess none. There's no movement when the beer is under preassure. But I'll fine test it for you. Cheers!

nice video, question does fermentation temps change the reading of the tilt? say lager temp at 50F vs ale temp at 65F? 17

I will try it out!
