Tilt Hydrometer Review - Too Much Brewing Technology?

I've had an iSpindel for about a year, and just bought a Tilt Pro. Yes, Bluetooth means you'll need some device to connect it to the Internet--a good, cheap choice is TiltBridge. You'll need to buy an ESP microcontroller and ideally a display, total cost of about $20--but it will then track any Tilts that are within range and report their information to whatever targets you like. I think it's the cheapest way to do this if you don't have a spare phone or tablet to dedicate to this purpose.

I bought a tilt off ebay for $62. I have to open my fridge to get a reading. I also bought a rapt pill off ebay and I love it. The pill was a bit of a pain to set up,but being though wifi, I have no problem getting readings through my fridge door. I'll probably end up putting the tilt on ebay or market place.

Nice deal finding with the tilt! I love that the pill has wifi, and really good battery life considering it is wifi. Question for you: Does the Pill fit in a standard carboy, or it it too big?

@@BenhamBrewing honestly I don't know. I'll measure it next time I get it out of the fermzilla fermenters I use. I have done 5 beers with it so far and it's still on 100% battery life.

What's the gravity range? Will it go to 0900?

It will go as low as 0.990

I just might have to do that. Its a bit of a shock to have to spend as much on the Tilt, and then AGAIN on an extender, but I will say, even without the extender I LOVE our Tilt!

Thanks for the correction! However, I did check with the Tilt website, and they do state that the tilt is designed "With an improved temperature sensor and accelerometer..."

Use a Tilt myself. Great device. Steep price, but worth it in my opinion.

I’m currently testing out the iSpindel (review coming soon). LOVE our tilt, but yes.. the price to entry is a bit steep. Have you tried out any other floating hydrometers?
