I've found that getting the lid ring off is easier if you have about 5psi in it to allow me to "bear hug" the vessel with one arm and strap wrench the ring off easily with the other. Once loose let the pressure out. Cheers Paul! 👍🍻

Paul, thank you SO much for the tip of using hot water to remove the lid, it works! I had just as much trouble as you and was on the point of throwing the whole thing away. I am eternally grateful.

Tip for punters, don’t screw down the ring onto the lid tight. It’s only there to hold the lid in place, the seal on the lid does the sealing. I personally just spin the ring on till it seats itself and back off a little. When it’s time to remove, release most of the pressure , undo the ring most of the way, pressurise the fermenter and the lid pops off almost by itself. I love mine, couldn’t imagine using anything else now.

Agree. I have the larger Fermzilla and only ever tighten the screw top enough to hold the lid in place - had no problems with that approach.

I thought this was obvious and always get a laugh out of the so call experts that make videos and over tighten the lid then claim it to be a design floor when they can't remove it.

Just watched this video for the first time. The dude made a total meal of getting the ring off. You’re dead right, I’ve been doing the same from day one of owning one. It does not need to be tightened right up. Leaving a small amount of pressure inside will push the lid off before the ring is totally unscrewed if you do it slowly.

My Allrounder turned up so I levelled it by putting a spirit level across the opening and drew a line around the fermenter where it sits on the stainless base ring. I know that the benchtop is level so I just line the termenter up with the mark, works a treat. By the way on mine the dot dead centre is where the tape starts. The only downside I've found is that I waste far too much time watching the yeasties do their thing LOL Thanks for your comments

I normally only do 21 liter brews so I measured 21 liters of water and poured that into the fermzilla and then marked a line all the way around the fermenter. When I am filling the fermenter and get very close to this line I adjust the angle of the fermenter until the liquid is parallel with the line, simple. I then added the measuring label aligning 21 liters with the line. Another tip, mine has a manufacture join (plastic weld) about two thirds of the way up the side wall which is exactly 20 liters so this is another guide to confirm liquid quantities.

Skip the straps and flip the base! Put a couple of sticky foam pads on the rim and you are good to go. No spills. This is the third review of the all rounder I’ve watched and every one has the straps and a tippy fermenter with the base oriented up like a pedestal (that’s the clean and drain orientation). Flip the metal base so the fermenter nestles deep in there and Bob’s your uncle. Make sense? Try it.

the instruction to put the volume strip is on the sticker itself you line up the red line to the center of the dot on the bottom

Weird I've used this for six months now and absolutely love it. The level is pretty simple to do. Also the lid is easy to remove I think you're over tightening it. I personally think this is the best fermenter for the price it's extremely versatile, easy to use and clean plus it's robust. I've had every fermenter over flow especially if you over fill the fermenter so IMHO that's not a fair assessment of the unit because nothing in the unit itself is causing the fermentation to be overactive

Great video! Before I even. Begin to try my hand at brewing, I’m going to need to find room for all that cool equipment. Now I have to add a fermenter to the list. Learning a lot! Thanks for making these videos.

This can actually save equipment; being able to pressurise your beer during fermentation means you can serve from the fermenter; you won't need bottles or kegs to begin with.

So the gas going into the fermenter is hooked up to the post that has the floating ball thing attached? Really would be nice if they included instructions

Hey Rob, I'm glad you found the video helpful. You could use The Last Straw (Review here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/in2xooWolNp-hbs) or the Blichmann Beer Gun to fill bottles directly from the All Rounder. Keep Brewing My Friend!

@@robpaynephoto You can always use a simple beer siphon. You can get them inexpensively at most any home brew store, or if you want one that will last you literally a lifetime, try this one (Review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ3NYZZ4Z9h6sJY)

Could you put say 10 litres of water into it then place the volume tape at that mark? and draw a marker pen line around the diameter using a tape from the rim edge to get it level? Based on your video I will purchase one of these. Nice job.
@HomeBrewingTV
@HomeBrewingTV 3 жыл бұрын
The markings will get you close, but even if you were to mark it yourself the bottom is round and depending on whether or not it is perfectly level will determine the reading. So unless you are going to level it each time, you'll never truly know how much is in the fermentor. That said, I do still like it a lot.

Nice video mate. I have the fermzilla and find absolutely no use for the nylon strap. If I''m moving the fermenter to a temperature controlled fridge you would not be able to hold the straps without getting a back injury. I just lift from the base. Also, as far as stabilizing the fermenter when it is full of wort the weight does not allow too much movement anyway. Also removing the seal I find it works well if you loosen the lid by a few turns, and then use something like a screwdriver or flat tool to prize the lid up under one of the screw on posts (liquid or gas). It pops open very easy. I have had mine for well over a year, using for pressure fermenting, and done many brews and find it brilliant. Cheers.

Does pressure fermentation pretty much allow fermentation at any temp without any added off flavors?
@HomeBrewingTV
@HomeBrewingTV 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve only pressure fermented a couple of lagers but I have done several ales, and I did those all at room temp with no off flavors. I would venture a guess that the increased speed at which pressure fermentation will rip through the sugar helps prevent the yeast from getting “lazy” and producing any off flavors. Keep brewing my friend!

Do fermenting temps change at all when pressure fermenting?
@HomeBrewingTV
@HomeBrewingTV 3 жыл бұрын
Pressure fermenting (in a nutshell) will speed up the fermentation process by a few days. You should still attempt to keep the temps as you normally would. However, that said, I have pressure fermented a lager at room temp, and it turned out pretty damn good.

Totally agree, turn the stand upside down and it is far more stable. I found it out by accident. Also a little plumbers lube on the threads and never tighten more than hand tight makes it easy to remove the ring, comments above are accurate
