Everyone is talking about the animation, which is breathtaking don’t get me wrong, but can we also acknowledge all the stuff we just learned about these characters? From the flashes in the beginning we can tell that magic is normal in their world, but both characters are still outcast for their own reasons. Not sure about cat man, but the bunny witch’s odd hat clearly earns her the mockery of her peers. Anyways, this disapproval from those around them weighs on both, but despite this the two of them find the strength to carry on using their magic. It also probably explains why the two came together in the first place, because they were both cast aside by the people around them.

THE STORYLINE TOO oh my god. They're both outcasted from their magic practice communities (as seen in the first four panels) and the video shows them go from being down on themselves because of it to gaining confidence in themselves!!!! You can see the girl really start to take charge in her confidence and once she makes the flowers she looks around and really feels accomplished. This is amazing

If you further look at the panels you can see that for the girl, her peers are just teasing her perhaps because she can't do magic perfectly, but for the guy, you can see them trembling maybe because he is so good with his magic, that he strikes fear in their hearts. They are kind of opposite in this regard.

What I like most about this is how their movements are distinctly similar to the sort of movements their familiars would make. Ruan seems intentionally languid in his motions like Café would be, while Lorena has more pep/energy and excitement behind her own motions like Coco would. It's a really nice detail that I've always loved about this animation.

The fact that it's animated in PHOTOSHOP is already a huge thing and shouldn't go unnoted. I'm not gonna say anything about the characters because everyone else has basically said the things I want to say. That is real animation, little to no inbetweening by the computer, just the artist making sure that every frame conveys exactly what they want it to. Big companies can't do that because it isn't efficient and too costly. That is the beauty of small animators.

I really like how the guy has cat scratches on his neck and forearm almost to show case that his "power" comes with a cost. I also like how the people that appears behind them have different reactions to there powers. The girls is mocked because her (what I guess is her familiar) makes her witches hat have bunny ears as opposed to the normal point. Where as the guy invokes what seems like fear from his class mates almost to show case that his power is dangerous thus leading back to how he has scratches on him. Where they work together with there familiars his has this physical "price" he has to pay in order for his magic to work. As if to say (holy shit if his familiar is okay hurting him to use magic what the hell will that thing do to us?")
