I have listened to many wonderful female singers, from pop to opera divas, over the last sixty-plus years, but at the very top of my lifelong list are Jackie and the phenomenal Patricia Janečková from Ostrava, Czech Republic. I'm about halfway between 84 and 85, and have never seen anything like Jackie. I can't believe that this young woman has captivated me for almost seven years since I first saw her first PBS Great Performances concert. That performance should be laid up in the National Archives. There has never been any vocal performance so flawlessly and beautifully presented in my lifetime, and I don't believe ever. There has never been anyone else who could, just by singing, sometimes in languages I don't understand, bring tears to my eyes.
