I like most people favor Batman over Superman. I loved this story and could honestly see things turning out this way if Superman killed the woman he loved by mistake. Um, the last panel of their fight shows Superman laying unconscious on the stone floor of the cave with his head inside a crater. The crater was made by Alfred kneeling on top of Superman and punching him in the head over and over again. That couldn't be possible unless Alfred was superhumanly strong. Correct me if I am mistaken about this: While it was Lois' unfortunate demise and Metropolis' destruction that forced Superman to murder the Joker, it was the Joker's death that led Superman down a dark path of tyranny and brutality. The Joker knew that he could never break the Dark Knight, no matter how much he torments or tortures him, so he set out to break his Kryptonian ally and he did. So, by forcing Superman's murderous instincts out, he actually won the argument, even in death. You could even say that Superman's brutal execution of the Joker proved the latter's argument to be true and that even in death, the Joker had the final laugh after all (You could even say that he is laughing in his grave now, knowing that it was his death that created a civil war between the members of the Justice League and turned Superman into a pretentious self-righteous, Machiavellian despot). Death itself could not have denied the Joker his ultimate victory and this was it.

Superman has fought his entire life against various opponents from a multitude of fighting capabilities, I'd hate to think he isn't an adept fighter. He was trained by Batman, and it was stated (even New 52) that he was trained by Krypton's best martial artist. When he isn't poorly written to be defeated by someone like Alfred, he tanks supernovas exploding point blank, punches from entities far above himself such as Darkseid, and basically has plot device invincibility from the Sourcewall. Goku was LITERALLY on the brink of death from a standard issue laser gun from some random Freeza lacky. They needed to go back in time to prevent him from dying from that SINGLE shot and Freeze then proceeding to destroy the planet. SSJ4 Goku also was cut and drew blood from broken glass falling on him. If that doesn't suit your fancy, he also dies of a heart virus. If that's not enough either, he dies in space. Suppose he uses his most powerful move which could apparently bust planets with ease, he then proceeds to die while Superman at most is knocked unconscious. Goku doesn't have anywhere near the strength to beat Superman if he is actually consistently written. Although Frank MIller will find a way to write a comic where an old lady with a cane beats down Superman because she was trained by Batman.

I always loved that this series never implies that this superman is a rogue Kal-el expressing his superiority over humanity but just a distraught Clark Kent, a simple man who lost his faith in justice and wants to make sure what happened to him never happened to anyone else. He didn't stay to tend to his father, the biggest difference between heroes and villains in comics has always been that a hero cares for an injured comrade, letting the villain go many times because of this. Somebody, probably government, abducted parents of Superman. Batman abducted member of League and put an imposter instead of her. Batman decided to raid Fortress of Solitude while clearly working with government. Superman did not know details, did not know if team was trying to abduct his parents again or steal something. But he knew that one of members of Batman's team, Captain Atom, had orders to kill him. Even tried to, but failed and gave to Superman, essentually, a concussion. Which made him even less able to think clear. And Green Arrow just wounded his father with arrow. Sure, accidently. He did not want to, perhaps. Superman could not see it. All he saw was a man who wounded his father. All he felt was rage. And i am not justifying it, i'm explaining how in that moment Sup became so enraged that he was unable to control himself anymore. At all. Also about "ethical and compassionate" Green Arrow? He helped Harley Quinn escape after she already killed two cops by herself, without any influence of Joker. He led Harley to Arkham and left her in a place where she was able to release all inmates and Solomon-bloody-Grundy, which started a fight where Nightwing died.

Some of Batman's dialogue is a modified version of what he says in Dark Knight Returns... where he fights Superman and wins. Batman even refers TO it, saying, "You think I'll put on a suit of armor and hit you with kryptonite to make you feel pain?" Ultraman, Superman's stronger and more ruthless multiverse variant, can't hit other Supermen that hard and beat them that fast. Doomsday can't hit Superman that hard and beat him that fast. Darkseid can't hit him that hard and beat him that fast. This scene existed to appease the crowd after they've built up Superman to be the ultimate douchebag. It's the equivalent of watching King Joeffrey die; they made him out to be an unbearable twat, and call it good writing to show them getting "what's coming to them". Instead of ripping our heroes a new one or applauding them for lesser acts, we should strive to be like what they stand for, whether it’s Superman inspiring hope and our inner champion while showing good doesn’t have to spawn from evil or Batman showing that tragedy can turn out something good and that we can live above anger and temptation and remain unbending against what we know is wrong as we look at the big picture rather than what’s seemingly appealing.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant everybody but even though I know this is based off of the video game which I have a copy of it's still sad to see Superman of all comic book characters and Superheroes become so evil. It's strange seeing how Superman's conference with The U.N is reminiscent to the animated movie version of Lex Luthor's presidential inauguration from Superman/Batman Public Enemies.

Timeyin Sholaye Agree. Superman is useful (in fictional character terms) but his readers ability to relate with him is... questionable to say the least ?? Myself i will equally enjoy a Superman and/or Batman movie (the ONLY media whose continuity my brain can keep up with) but Superman's status and adventures... Lets face it, was Man of Steel better than Nolan's trilogy ? Did we enjoy Zodd more than Ras, Joker, Bane and Thalia ??
