My reason for having house plants is for the aesthetics. They are part of my decor and make my tiny home warm and cozy. I’m not into having lots of propagations or small plants with only two or three leaves or rehabbing or cabinets. I like the old stand-byes that are low care but beautiful. I understand being into props or plants crowed together. But not my thing. The nice thing about the hobby is that there are so many ways of enjoying plants that there is something for everyone. Love your channel. Donna

I have never gotten rid of plant and then regretted it! I have killed a couple that I ended up repurchasing, but usually when I give it away/sell it it's such a relief. They are pretty plants, but maybe they deserve a home where they do spark joy ;) Usually if you are thinking about getting rid of something, it's for a good reason.

I do find it curious how the plant i searched for relentlessly, bought for a healthy price at the height of the plant craze and was so over the moon when i got it, now is one i just have no interest in. I hang on to it because i keep waiting for my feelings to change. I keep putting off making a decision. Kudos to you for taking the decision on your plants.

For the mini pixi, you could totally take a good bit of cuttings from that plant, there is so much beautiful growth, just sanitize and treat and give new soil and I bet the pests go away. I feel like the soil could be the mealy culprit. AND you’ll still have a nice size plant to start over with! ❤

Fern that variegated vanilla orchid needs a transparent trellis. You had a really cute heart one a few videos back that would really show off that plant. ( Imo😂) And I went on a plant purge the last week ; any doubles, same with my 4ft plus plant trellis, ( 3 of them) chop chop, I am sure 30 plants have went to the compost. Whew it feels great !

It needs to be potted in a chunky mix. I view moss as more a medium for propagations. I think it would prefer being in a proper mix and really take off. It’s a beautiful plant!

I have a Hoya linearis that I battled mealy bugs on. One day I cut it all off at the soil line and stuck all the cuttings in a glass 9 x 13 baking dish with a solution of fish emulsion and left it there for a few days. The solution was more concentrated than regular fertilizer. That was 2 years ago and my plant is still pest free. I think that would work great for your Hoya mini pixie. It's worth a try.

Asking yourself questions is so important in the process of finding new homes for things/plants! I like how you added a point system to it, so fun! I ask myself many questions of which some are similar to yours and it helps so much in deciding. Theres one additional question that I would add, Ill phrase it in 3 different ways: ) Would I be sad if I didn’t have this? ) Would I buy this (again) now if I didn’t have it? ) Would I be “jealous” if I saw it in someone else’s collection? It helped so much in deciding to rehome some plants that most people call their “staple plants” and so far I am not missing any of them 😊

I love this new style of video! I'm behind anyone that wants to get rid of a plant regardless of a reason. However, sometimes we have to ask ourselves why it doesn't bring us joy. Is it because it needs a pretty pot? Would it be nicer if I take cuttings and was fuller? Would it look better on/off a trellis? Does it just need a good trim? Then again, it's up to anyone how much effort they want to do to keep the plant :)

My two cents on Hoya Obovarta. I have the plain green and the splash. These are my “wild” hoya. They both are in hanging baskets outside my laundry and they have climbed their way through the roof. They both have like 30 blooms and last ages. My advice would be if you have the space (and weather I live is Australia) kick it in that space and let it go wild. Love you and your content 🌱 🤍

If I had a vanilla orchid I think I’d find a big peice of driftwood or a an aged branch/ log that can pass as driftwood. Something long enough that you can wrap her all the way around it. I like using driftwood instead of planks or moss poles for climbing plants that I really want to showcase in my home, because you can get it to look good from multiple angles instead of just one like with a plank or pole that your trying to cover.

Hey Fern! If you remember Caitlyn from PlantedinParadise (? I think that’s what her channel was called) she very long ago taught me to submerge plants with pests. Maybe for your Hoya pixie, you can do this method as a last ditch instead of only taking cuttings. Basically, you would rid it of all of its soil, make a bucket of lukewarm water with a capful of neem ( or isopropyl alcohol) and two capfuls of Castille soap properly mixed together; and let it sit in the bucket submerged ( usually use a plate or something) for twenty minutes. Then rinse and viola! Pest free! Essentially the act suffocates and kills any pests (or eggs). Obviously you may set the plant back because it will have to reestablish in new substrate but it’s really worth trying. I do this for all of my new acquisitions (minus anthurium). It really makes a big difference 💚 let me know if you decide to try it, and bless you for your point system! That’s brilliant ✨

@dianesheehan8225

As someone with both, the Albo grows so much faster, so you won’t have them extend and the albo will be ready for a chop and extend 3 pole and the marble will be on the first pole still. I’m stunned how much faster the albo grows, and the leaves are so long and mature.
