So that I’m not overwhelmed I plant multiple different plants in pots. Ones that need water the same and lighting….. really helps with space and time. I have a hand disability and things need to be easier and that helps a lot. I also water most in place, and have for many years. I’m trying to do it smarter so that I can grow all the plants and still try new ones. It will help you make smaller plants bigger but then give you space to try other things. This is how I keep everything manageable. Appreciate your vids. ❤

🪴 I have lights that are too short for my shelves too, and I just stagger them to get light to the whole shelf. One light fully to the left, one light fully to the right. Technically that means less light to the ends, but it's enough that I can put plants that need light to the ends of the shelves and they're happy. Looking forward to the rest of the videos this week!

I agree with that decision for the Hoya compacta! I find when putting hanging plants on shelves, it looks best when hanging off the side or only down the front if it’s not blocking anything. So hard😅

Hi Fern! For the Vittsjo shelves, I use a single 3ft Monios T5 on each shelf. Since they're 3ft, they are stronger than a single 2ft light. 15w each I think. I replaced all my Barrinas with Monios. The only thing is that Monios doesn't yet carry 12" bar lights, so for the skinny tall Vittsjo I'm still using 2 12" Barrinas per shelf. You could also cover the silver part of the lights with black painters tape, which would really look nice with the black shelves.

Using a 2ft + 1ft barrina connected with the small grey connector leaves a bit more than 1inch of space at each end for any cables you might have to run if centered! I have the same setup with my Vittsjo shelf

🪴🌵🌱🌿 I procrastinate so much but when I finally pull all the plants down and wash everything it's like a breath of fresh air. Oh I wish I could get that Alocasia Maharani (sp?) I gasped when I saw her. 💡For the power bar I got a box specifically for that with a bamboo lid from Amazon. It comes in black and white. It doubles as a riser too to put plants on.

My long Longiloba Silver has been in room humidity since I had it, and while it's only holding onto one leaf at a time, they're huge leaves 😅 i've also also had very low humidity (around 30%) all winter and spring up until the past couple of weeks in Nova Scotia, and now it's finally up to above 50% consistently, so I'm hoping that that will help the plant (along with all of my other ones😂) So yours should definitely be okay to transition to room conditions! ❤️

Fern, your little 🌱 seedlings reminded me to ask you about maybe a video showing how and when to start them, lighting, humidity. etc. I tried some Hoya seeds and they got leggy and died. 😭🌿

I staggered my lights on my vitsjo. So one goes further on each end if that makes sense. They are parallel but one light is closer to the left side while the other light stays closer to the right. I wish I could put picture because I'm not explaining it well. So it's highest amount of light in the middle and each end only has the power of 1 light but I just put lower light plants on the ends.
