'64 Ferrari 500 superfast, i think the fact that it's a name that was used before makes it a bit nostalgic. it wasn't the first time they used Superfast. in that regard i think it's a fantastic name.

The only Ferrari 500 Superfast that I ever saw was in very heavy traffic, crawling through Monaco in 1964, in a VW WestFalia Camper Bus. I saw this thing coming toward us and flipped the overhead hatch open and stood up through the roof to watch it go past. It was in Road & Track that month and I had the magazine in the camper with me! I was 16 years old; my dad was stationed in Stuttgart Germany and we were on our summer vacation while all the kids were out of school. My parents got the biggest kick out their car-obsessed kid nearly jumping up and down through the roof of the camper in heavy traffic. OK, maybe I was just a wee bit obsessed with cars at that age... it only got worse as I got older! Ok, now I'm way past "older" and rapidly approaching ancient but Ferraris are still cool (some of them) and they're still out of reach. That hasn't changed a bit in nearly 60 years. Oh well...

As we already know Italians (I mean Ferrari) does it better than anybody else! Best driver's car on the planet! I think a car is all about how it makes you feel, I have driven several supercars but the feeling you get behind the wheel of a Ferrari whether it is a V8 or a V12 model is something I have never experienced in any other car. Ferrari's make you feel so alive and joyful and many others wonderful emotions in a way all the others supercars just cannot replicate. Prancing Horse Rules!

ROORabuser nah I think Lamborghini gives more drama and excitement. It looks better has a better more unique exhaust note and has the scissor doors as a cherry on top. It might not drive as well handling wise but overall its a much more thrilling and drama full experience. Especially considering the fact that it comes as a roadster so you can hear that v12 far better than you can in the Ferrari. So the Lamborghini also has its own experience that can't be replicated by any other car out there.

*+ Hasan Al-habbobi Ferrari is usually when u want to impress someone, lambo is when you care about performance more, this is why the lambo is middle engine, but Ferrari has laferrari which pretty much beats any lambo, but production vs production its not comparable because they don't make models that are equal in the high end segment*

Hasan Al-habbobi Ferrari and Lamborghini have completely different style, they are literally made for different type of people/drivers ... I totally agree the description, the Aventador (like all V12 Lamborghini in the past) are pure drama.

Guys in the end it all comes down to personal preference. Some prefer Lambos and others prefer Ferraris. Me personally I would never take any Lambo over a Ferrari, for example between an Aventador and a 812 or the F12 I would take the Ferrari eyes closed! Peace ;)

Lol, the new Aventador S is pretty much the same car as the older one except it's finally driveable. A bit more horse power, better steering and some fake crackles on overrun (typical tacky lambo fashion these days). At least with the 812, its a proper upgrade with larger displacement, resulting in a V12 revving to 8.9k rpms which is insane in itself. And lets not forget the 812 is the most powerful front engined rear wheel drive car in the world today.

Congrats. I've driven Bmw M cars and Porsche Boxters and Caymans but so far nothing has excited me much more than my S2000 to warrant buying. I'm sure buying a Ferrari is an entirely different experience, both aurally and in terms of driving performance. Maybe a Porsche Gt3 or Gt3 RS. Porsche loves to to remind us of 'there is no substitute' but the truth might be there is no substitute for a Ferrari.

As you were comparing the Superfast to the 599, it seems as though Ferrari's modus operandi is to provide a "sneak peek" of the new car by upgrading the outgoing one (F12 TDF -> 812 Superfast and 458 Speciale -> 488GTB sans turbos of course). I just wish I could afford one........

THAT is how you do shifting with a fast gearbox. No burping or uuuooo at upshift and a nice blip at downshift. The tone is direct and jumps from one to the other with no other sound. That sounds amazing. Pleeeze everyone else do a direct tone since that is so satisfying and not that burping or the other sound (that sounds like an old torque based auto)

9:47 Reviewers also said the same about the F12 and said it was the peak of pure NA engined Ferraris and then Ferrari went and made the 812. So I don't think Ferrari is done yet with NA engines.

These are fantastic cars in their own right, but none of them is a front mid engined two seater with a 9.000 rpm V12 sending its 800 PS of power to a transaxle at the rear. And there's also rear wheel steering. And above all of this, it still is a grand tourer with daily usability.
