Here we go!! Ferrari 812 Superfast vs… BMW M5 CS?! Think this one sounds unfair? Well trust us, it’s going to be closer than you think…
So let’s check out their stats. Starting with the BMW, this is the top of the range model, the M5 CS. It’s housing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that’s good for 635hp and 750Nm of torque. It’s equipped with four-wheel drive along with launch control, and it tips the scales at 1825kg.
Then we have the Ferrari, which is just slightly lighter, weighing 1,800kg. But whereas it’s down on weight, it’s way up on power, with a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 delivering 800hp & 720Nm of torque!! It’s got one key disadvantage compared to the BMW, though. It’s only equipped with rear-wheel drive!

Depends on the amount of turns, if there's traffic,... the m5 could beat the ferrari if constant breaking and accelerating is needed ie mountain road. In the other hand the ferrari is superior in long straight lines when it should be superior everywhere due to engine size and hp

The M5 CS is seriously impressive for a family mall cruiser. This is the type of car men with a family get. It's comfortable and safe for the family but it can also turn into a freaking speed monster when you want to have some fun.

My best friends dad has an M550xi he got after trading in his 300s with extra cash. What are you talking about? LOL they are fantastic cars. Much better then RS cars and I like them more than AMG’s personally. ESPECIALLY if we’re talking M3 vs C63 I’d take an M3 ANYDAY for daily drivability. I’m taking a WILD guess you don’t own a bmw, never have, nor have you sat in one. Never heard anyone say a BMW isn’t comfortable and I’m not even a fanboy as we own two Porsche’s and if anytime I am team Porsche when it comes to any car brand. They are the PERFECT blend of comfort, luxury, sporty, Incredibly reliable one of ours has over 250k miles currently with the other around 50-60k, and my favorite part is how well they age and retain their value. Bentley is next, but other than that BMW is realistically next imo, then Mercedes, followed by Audi. Even friends who own a benz and Audi can agree lol BMW is about kind of always taking a more sporty edge while Mercedes is about being more laid back and wafty. Audi is sports like very much, but it just doesn’t feel that right idk it’s kind of like you wish they did one or the other. Something like the R8 is perfect though my gf’s next door neighbor had one before getting a C8 and a GT4 Cayman. Idk it’s just funny AF to me when I see people like you who Ik have no experience with such vehicles yet you like to trash aspects of them or the brand in many cases🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m guessing you drive a Bentley as your daily?😂🤣🤣💀 You don’t possibly think the 812 is more comfortable than the M5 just because one says Ferrari right even though their interior (looks sporty) comfort is EH? The brake test was super impressive but the 1/4 isn’t. We know it’s a low grip surface that CarWOW runs on and all powerful RWD cars always do awful 1/4 times here. In this context any AWD car has a huge advantage here however when the 812 gets on the move, it makes the M5 look like it’s parked up, the difference is astonishingly big which I hadn’t expected. I thought the 812 would get away given practically equal weight and ~160bhp extra but it didn’t just get away it disappeared. Still the M5 is an amazing car but it’s bonkers that it costs £141k standard and the CarWOW car costs £180k…… has everyone lost their minds?

The M5 CS is absolutely insane! BMW has build a Saloon Family-Car with many daily driver qualities, which keeps up with high-end supercars. Thats just amazing. But i would still take the Ferrari if I could. N/a V12 with 6.5 L and 800 HP... This seems to be from another world. It must be so fun to drive. And I could listen to this sound 24/7. I want to have both of these cars :D

Their trap speeds are also much different too, the CS will trap no more than 130mph while the 812 will trap close to 140. Two different leagues

@@Ibnhlal4cars 150 hp extra (812 has 789 hp) is why it caught up so quickly to the bmw before the quarter mile. but dont forget that the bmw has awd vs the ferrari's rwd so it can lay the power down better and faster off the line. conditions werent perfect either which is bad news for an almost 800 hp rwd car. also dont forget that the bmw has more torque which helps in accelaration. The 812 is so impressive

The M5 CS is a real monster and the only sedan, who can keep up with sport cars. Ferrari 812 have around 200hp more, better aerodynamic and are a little bit lighter so it was an expected result. M5 CS did a great job! ///M Power for life 💙❤️🤍

Holy cow, so many disinformation. In a rolling race m5 CS is not even close. It got demolished! Standing start is nothing special cause its awd vs. RWD. The actual hp difference is realistically only 100hp. All m5 which got dynoed were about 700hp. I wonder if the superfast have actual 800hp. The Aero of a sportscar is always worse compared to a Sedan like 5 series. Downforce = bad aero, especially at higher speeds. 5 series is around 0,24, 812 is around 0,34 M5 CS is fast, but its not even close to 812🤭

Another tremendous drag race, Mat! The BMW’s victory shows the advantage of 4WD (especially if the launch control is working properly, and/or if the track conditions put RWD at an inherent disadvantage). It would be interesting to know what speed each car was doing when it crossed the quarter mile line - I’d bet the Ferrari was moving more quickly. An extra acceleration test from a pootling dawdle (5-10mph, say) to full beans might also be instructive… (If I’m not mistaken, across the pond they sort of ignore the first split second of acceleration, possibly to take wheel slip out of the equation? Although with some of their more lairy muscle cars there’s such preposterous wheelspin in the first two or three gears that the point become moot.) And while I’m at it, Mat, would you consider including the 0-100 mph times, not necessarily in your drag races but rather in your acceleration tests? There are so many cars nowadays that are in the same ballpark when it comes to 0-60 mph that it’s not until higher speeds that you start to see separation and get an picture of rapid vs properly quick. The only reason why the BMW only had a chance was because of the AWD vs RWD difference. We all saw how hard the 812 pulled back once it got grip - made the Beamer look like a 190hp diesel variant of the 5 series. This comparison is really not that close as it might seem...

They have around the same weight, but the 812 has significantly more power. Once if puts the power down, of course it will make the CS look like a 190hp diesel 5 series LOL, it has 150whp more. Also, you should note that the 812 also has great launch control that helps it put the power down better, its not just the tires spinning crazy like a Hellcat with poorly programmed launch control. Sure the 812 is a GT, but the M5CS is a 4 door saloon that seats 4, and has a trunk for multiple golf bags! More impressively, the CS can stop shorter than the 812 despite weighing a little bit more. Yes, they are different cars in different categories, but a stock 4 door performance saloon that can stand up against a V12 Ferrari is just amazing, something that would be unbelievable 10 years ago.
