This is what you call a spicy petrol vs electric drag race!
We’ve got Mat in the crazy fast Tesla Model S Plaid, and he’s facing off against a Porsche 911 Turbo S & a BMW M5 Competition. The thing is, these aren’t your everyday 911 Turbo & M5 - they’ve both been tuned and now deliver 1,000hp each!
So how will this one play out? Well for starters, let’s check out the stats. Starting with the Tesla Model S Plaid, it’s powered by three electric motors which combine to deliver 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. Naturally though, being electric it’s pretty heavy, weighing in at 2,200k.
Alongside it, we have the Porsche. It rolls up with the stock engine, which means there’s a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six slung over the rear axle. However, it’s had several mods done to it, including new intakes, a titanium exhaust system as well and a custom ECU remap. As a result, it delivers 1,011hp and 1,000Nm! It’s also pretty light, coming in at just 1,650kg!
Then finally we have the BMW. It’s equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, but of course, it’s been tuned. As a result, it now puts down 1,00hp and 1,100Nm! It also tips the scales as heavier than the 911, coming in at 1,850kg.
So will it be a victory for electric? Or could ICE power snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

That plaid only won cause the cars are modified. Porsche has specifically made the car and adjusted for its respective horsepower. If some chump goes and adds more it destroys the system. A plaid lost to a stock 200hp Mitsubishi Outlander near my home town and I saw it lose that bad.

The model 3 looks like a fat egg with outdated ugly headlights. It legit looks like a mall cop car with its shape and design😂 its interior is just as dull and boring as it's exterior. A single iPad and bulky steering wheel? BMW gives u luxury seats or carbon fiber bucket seats for sports cars, HUD, FSD+Auto Parking, crystal scroll wheels and buttons that feel good to click, sporty slim steering wheel that has goof quality, etc.. teslas are cheap for a reason they cut corners on alot of shit and they are depreciating at an historic rate. They accelerate fast but look like basic traffic 😂 I rather have a cool looking car with luxury for my EV. Then have a real aggresive and mean looking sports cars with a head turning engine.

Track mode in the Plaid increases top speed to 175mph while the brake package unlocks 200mph. Run the plaid in track mode gor that extra 10mph for the 1/2 mile runs.

Matt come on!! The Plaid is faster in “PLAID” mode on a roll race vs drag strip mode. Also, make sure you charge up to above 90% before you start racing!

As a prior multiple 911 Turbo owner (991 and 997's) I love them and the ESMotor (AIM Performance in the US) build insanely fast/reliable cars. But that damn Tesla is just a monster, if you worship at the alter of speed as I do. I dont care if its gas, diesel or EV as long as its fast and consistent. Good runs, had hoped the M5 would have faired a bit better but in this company last isnt last.

I agree, even i would not want to buy a electric car because they are not appealing to me. I still gotta say that if you only care for speed AND want some comfort and take multiple people in the car, then theres no way around a Plaid. Period. Everyone who says Tesla sucks is a complete moron. They are literally the fastest and most affordable cars you can get, they have no competition. No stock BMW,Audi,Merc will ever beat a stock Plaid. Not at acceleration, not from a roll, not on the autobahn until like 250 or 300 with track package. Absolutely stupid to argue which ICE car is faster, theres people literally arguing in the comments if a 800 HP or 700 HP Car is faster meanwhile the Plaid exists and if the only focus is speed, then why should anybody buy anything else if its the most affordable and the fastest. Remember a E63 or RS6 does not cost 100.000$ but 170.000$. Why even compare a E63 and RS6 if you only care for acceleration and which is fastest when the plaid is almost two times as fast and costs less.

If you keep everything factual. The S Plaid does not take 1.5 hours to charge, the new super chargers get it done in 20-30 minutes. It has much more trunk space compared to the porsche, costs much less to "fuel" it, it's so quiet under full load you can actually hear things outside your car or the people in your car, doesn't have a voided warranty, and will make many more runs will lower maintenance costs, while being half the price and out performing it. Those 2 petrol heads need a reality check.

Other than this location the Plaid is easily good for 9.2 1/4 miles. Carwow loves to run Plaids at 55-60% SOC probably because their guest don’t top off the battery before arriving.

I think if you check Tesla plaid prices right now the starting price for a plaid is just under the price of an M5 stock, not the thousand horsepower version, so still the plaid is the absolute best value for money if you want to race something in a quarter mile

1000hp Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 costs 100k and does quarter mile in 8.91 seconds, much faster than the Plaid at 9.23 seconds. So still the Challenger SRT Demon 170 is the absolute best value for money production car if you want to race something in a quarter mile. For less than 100k you can have a tuned 1233hp Golf Mk II that does the quarter mile in 8.26 seconds and 0-100kmh (0-92mph) in 1.66 seconds.

Love the videos, but man please please please fix the audio when you're revving the cars, and external race noise, sounds horrible! Tips from and audio engineer; don't take out ALL the lows, maybe high pass filter at 100hz, place the mic from around 4-6 meters back facing the middle of the back of the car to get a good overall pick up. and please place a limiter on the over mix and pump that upto +5db or +7db (or -7db if using proper ones) the videos are GREAT! but there supppperrrrrrrr quiet and inconsistent with audio levels, im constantly having to adjust the volume. Love the channel! Hope this helps!

I just bought my Model S Plaid a few weeks ago, upgraded from BMW F11 M550d. Though the Swiss price of 105k CHF only comes to 95k GBP, no idea why it would be 30k more over there. Of course I was over in Germany straight away. The car is just nuts, it really feels like the rate of acceleration is higher than the rate of deceleration I can get by breaking. (Track pack isn't even an option in Switzerland.) It pulls like crazy, even if I'm at 180-200kph, stepping on the gas has a kick even at those speeds, right up to the limiter at 267.

Plaid = upgrade in acceleration, and two steps of downgrades in luxurious interior and three steps down in money value keeping compared to the Bmw M550d.

Traction issues. Remember when the stock Turbo S ran the Plaid it was left for dead after 60 mph. This modded Turbo S was only two cars close to the Plaid at the quarter so clearly it’s got more power.
