Thanks for doing an honest informative video about the 355 without the usual over the top sensationalism about maintenance costs. I’ve owned 2 355s over a period of about 10 years. My advice to potential owners is this... Buy a good one from a top line dealer like the Sheehans. If you look for a bargain you will have a bad experience.

The reason the F1 transmission is "lurchey" is because the hydraulic perfectly shifts like a manual. That's what makes the F1 transmission so unique, it literally is a manual with the hydraulic actuators.

So as a long time owner of a 355 F1 GTS, it’s far from learchie. Properly setup F1’s operate flawlessly. And, the DCT was introduced in the 458, long before the F12

The 348 was not ‘unsuccessful’, it was a big sales success, with the order books filled for years and years. However, the car had some flaws, which, although duly fixed, would be highlighted by the then-new Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo, who called the 348 a ‘crap car’ in order to pass the F355 as a completely new car. This has stuck, unfortunately, making many to believe the 348 was a ‘bad apple’ and, yes, ‘unsuccessful’. Yet not only in marketing terms the 348 was a success, the new layout, with a transverse gearbox and monocoque chassis, also started a tradition that lasts to this day.

I really miss the 6 Speed Manual Transmission, don't really race anymore so PDK or Paddle Shifter are less engaging. Even in F1 i would reach for the Sequential shifter, and would forget Paddle or Button Shifter. Thanks Colleen keep it up great editing and very informative.... Save the Manual!

The 355 F1 can Judder or be “learchie” if you do not know how to drive them just like a driver who keeps stalling a manual car, the F1 gearbox has faster gear changes than the manual
