I've binged through the entire series over the weekend and I just want to say Lou, these videos are incredible. As an automotive engineering student and apart of an FSAE team it is so awesome to see the detail you are going into and subsequently how much I am learning from it. You have definitely inspired me to continue slowly collecting more tools so I can work on my own car and hopefully one day purchase a project car alike to this and go through a complete restoration, it seems incredibly fun and rewarding. You deserve 100x more subscribers and I'm sure you'll get there! Keep up the great content, I am excited for all the future videos to come!

The only thing I would have done differently would be to use the radiator itself as the final buck for the new support; that is after all what's got to fit into it. I guess it was away being checked. Result does look better than new!

Cool pirate hat. Those were very nice patch panels you made. No box cardboard and utility knife cuts here. I assume all interior parts of the entire chassis will have some anti rust applications when you are done. Here in Los Angeles we do not have rain so not rot here. I sure that was exactly how they formed the originals. It would have been a 10 if you got the metal from Italy. Rookie move,🤑

Hey Lou, for a moment I thought I was watching StanceWorks channel, cutting and fixing the yellow 308! Wished one day you guys, StanceWorks, Heidi and Franny Garage, Tr3Wrench and Car Wizard could do a nice long road trip together. Using sockets as forming dies .. great trick ... need to remember that. did u consider going to an aluminum core rad to help with the sporadic overheating issues with the 308's.. to heck with the purists ...lol When restoring cars especially Italian ones ... there are always surprises.... Part of the process I guess Keep up the good work ... Restoring old cars is always a test of patience

Hey Lou, Love your series and look forward to each new episode! I see you are getting around to installing new hoses. The front lower is a royal PIA to pull every time you do a coolant drain (nice "shower" lol). I make a really slick drain valve for exactly this hose. Would you like one? I tried posting a link to it, but my comment disappears so I'm thinking that link must be breaking the rules? I don't know how to send you a PM? Cheers, Robert

Hey Lou, as you progress on this build how are you planning to address all the fires that always seem to happen to these cars. Are they from failed seams on gas tanks, poor fuel line shielding, Ferrari fuel line fittings or some other cause. Might you be installing bladders in lieu of 40 year old gas tanks? It would be interesting to know your process, given the value of this car in money and your appreciation of the platform how about an on board fire suppression and fuel line shut off. We want nothing but a very long life for your collectible.
@LouTrottier3 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, as far as I understand it, the majority of fire problems were due to leaky rubber hoses. Since every piece of rubber is being replaced on the car. But if I could find a bladder I would not be opposed to that, but I don't think I will go as far as a fire suppression system. Thanks
@pi.actual3 жыл бұрын
Yup - 18 liters of coolant in a 308. I guarantee you there's still some in there. Tip: put a petcock in the heater hose to make it easier to drain next time. As an American I always wait in anticipation for the time you might say that you've been "oot and aboot " ha,ha) d;-)
