Thank you for this great presentation including historic lessons. Enzo Ferrari visited the grave of his son Dino every day before he started to work. Dino was named after Enzo‘s elder brother, who was always admired by Enzo, but died young, too. The V6 engines, which Dino developed, were intended to have Ferraris for new racing regulations, which they additionally wanted to broaden with street cars. The Dino shows the soul of Enzo better than any other Ferrari, and that‘s very propably the reason for it‘s name: Dino.

People who stand against Dino brand are ignorant. The Dino name is sacred as it is a sign of the love of a father to his son, it has a deep meaning, that is why real Ferrari fans and other car people who know it, have a deep respect for that name

February 1974, a buddy and I went cross country in my '58 Corvette. South Dakota to Portland, down the coast to San Francisco, LA, back thru Vegas, Denver... On Broadway Ave. in Denver, we stopped by the Ferrari dealership. Cold and dreary day outside. They had a new Giallo 246GTS, as well as a new black/ tan Daytona. $16,800.00 for the GTS. 29,000.00 for the Daytona. 🙂 The Arab Oil Embargo was just getting underway.

The one thing I used to use to shut everyone up when I was a kid about if it was a real Ferrari was the fact that across the back of the trunk lid it says Ferrari LOL so it does in fact bear a "Ferrari badge" however it's just not the horse and shield..... it's crazy I learn to drive stick shift with my dad's 1964 Porsche 356 then the next manual ever drove was his 72 Dino which you really can't beat driving up PCH in on a nice sunny day!

I think that colour (which looks like grigio ferro metallizzatto, aka steel grey metallic) really suits the Dinos, but they are cars that look good in sober or bright colours. But I think I'd swap out that incongruous radio for a retro-mod one that looks the part but actually works like a modern one with blue tooth etc, although the real music will always come from just behind you!

I have heard the story that the Dino is the only Ferrari in history not to wear a Ferrari badge. I think it was intended to be either a Fiat or Lancia but the deal fell through so Ferrari kept it for themselves. Kind of similar as to how the Porsche 924 was designed to be a Volkswagen but VW declined at the 11th hour. I would love to see you do a video on the 288 GTO if one ever finds its way into your garage.

NOT EVEN CLOSE! The EARLY 1950's (1952-ish) inline 6 252 CID Ferrari Speedster is a CLASSIC Ferrari roadster-front engine rear-wheel drive five speed NONE exported to the US featured in TWO MGM movies (one starring Humphrey Bogart-"The Barefoot Contessa" in a Pinafarina body) another in a Puche Body with Tyrone Power. A VERY unique inline 6 having desdemonic OHC valves (no valve springs) and mechanical direct fuel injection and "inside-out" firing order with twin counter-balancing shafts for the 22,000+ RPM red-line and unified transaxle (Franz-Gertag) with full-floating independent rear axles. The tiny engine was conservatively rated at 306 HP and 285 Ft/Lbs of torque thru 6 32mm Dell Orto carbs. It won so many Gran Prix in the early 50's it was banned.
@FerrarisOnline3 жыл бұрын

Certainly, a most beautiful car. But competing a Porsche? A 911? The 911 was and still is for many people an everyday car. And - at least in those times back then (mid 1960ies to mid 1970ies) Porsches competed with Renault Alpine 1600 and Minis at the Rally Monte Carlo. I'm sure, you could see Dinos in front of the casino, but not on a friday morning in late January coming over from a quick tour across the Col de Turini... . Actually, the Dino engine did, at least 4 times as winner, but then inside his step-brother that was a real sports car- the Lancia Stratos.

I see a lot of Ferrari 250LM and 275 in the Dino - why would you first thnk of a Porsche when tracing the Dino history? That is so odd and illogical
@Jonathan-mt9up2 жыл бұрын
@@rubiconadventurewithscotty3258 Because I see design similarities, Mr. Spock. All the manufacturers raced together and admired and drew from each other's designs. Enzo loved the Jaguar E-type, for example, and one could argue the 275 borrowed from it. And the E-type was influenced by the Alfa Disco Volante, and so on and so on..
@rubiconadventurewithscotty32582 жыл бұрын
Actually, it indicates an uninformed and limited viewpoint. If you only knew Porsches it makes sense you would project a Porsche on the Dino (which never raced F2 with that PF body BTW). A lot of Porsche guys wish they were Ferrari owners but don't take the time to learn the history and make some JV level comments. SMH
