Our new baby ferrets found the toe kicks immediately!! I never even knew they were there until one of my ferrets mysteriously disappeared for a few minutes after I had just saw her by the cabinet a second prior to her disappearance. 😂🤦🏾♀️ Also, I laughed hysterically when you called the garbage a wonderful wonderland to ferrets, because one of ours took a dive into our kitchen garbage can for the first time a couple of days ago! 😂 I'm so glad I had just removed a full bag before he decided to go dumpster diving, or I would've never known he was in there. It was still difficult to see him at the bottom at first though because he covered himself with the few scraps of paper and small container that were in the new bag, and was just laying there. If my daughter hadn't told me that she saw him dive in, I would've never found him. 😣 These two are definitely going to keep us on our toes!

The Modern Ferret it is always scary when a deaf ferret gets in a hole. Lucy is deaf and she got in the air ducts. A good tip with deaf ferrets is that their other senses are heightened. Lucy is motivated by food so we got her out eventually by that.

So I’m 16 with a job and school but I am willing to ferret proof my entire room so he/she can run around when I’m not home and my mom doesn’t like ferrets so ferret proofing the entire house will probably make her mad 😬 but with some convincing of moving cleaning products that we only used 1-2 times weekly to a high shelf in a closet shouldn’t be hard any pointers to really love ferrets but my mom doesn’t let me have pets that aren’t in a tank full of water 🥲

I bought cord covers from Lowe’s and they’re great, and cheaper than buying something catered to animals or children. And I keep anything shiny up high. They love crinkly stuff like wrappers. I put up gates to keep them out of the kitchen. I learned about the toe kick the hard way too. It was terrifying. I finally covered them as well.

Interesting! Our Ferret (Farrah) did find those "toekicks" almost immediately after we brought her home. The 1st time it totally freaked us out. But she turned around and pretty much came right out. Since then she uses it whenever she might be running & playing hide & seek with the cat. But she always comes right out so I've actually never thought to block it off. Luckily, I think our Ferret finds those holes boring.

I have a ferret and let him free roam around the house for a couple of hours and as a new ferret owner I researched about caring for my ferret. This video helped me and I found several things to be true, like there was a day I couldn’t find my ferret, till I lured him out by squeezing an empty water bottle, I know it’s strange but that’s what I use to lure him out of bedrooms and from under the kitchen table. Anyway, my ferret stuck his out from the kitchen cabinet and I was surprised and relieved to find him. Ever since I started to use strong tape for the cabinets, but I will definitely order the magnetic locks instead. I admit that ferret proofing my home is going to be fun. I love my new ferret and wouldn’t want anything that would injure him. Also, am planning to get him a buddy for him not to feel lonely when I’m gone for work. Thank you for this awesome video, it definitely would help me in ferret proofing my home.

@@1msorry1 if/when you decide to get ferrets (and I said ferrets with an 's' on the end, never condemn a ferret to solitary confinement, they are too social to be alone), make sure you prepare the house BEFORE you bring them home... buy the cage, bedding, supplies in advance, ferret proof the house and have their area setup before you get them... and bring your pet carrier to wherever you are getting them from... be prepared in advance... too many people bring ferrets home in a cardboard box and have no cage or food setup for their new addition to the family. Hi hi! I was wondering if you could do a video about slowly starting a ferret to raw! When I got my baby he was only eating tuna which is very fattening for ferrets (as far as I have heard!) And now he won't touch anything else I've tried slowly introducing him to freeze dried but he has no interest all he eats is the Marshalls kibble. He's almost three so I really don't know if he will change his appetite. I've even tried chicken liver and still no interest! Do you have any advice?!?!?

The thing with the bathtub actually happened to another ferret owner I know. She tragically had two ferrets drown at the same time! Open waters and enclosed machinery is very dangerous! Also if we leave the washing machine open, our ferrets love to sleep there, so we definitely do the "headcount" every time we are about to wash and if necessary lock them savely away before we turn anything on. Also think about Aquariums! I am a relatively new owner of a small Nano-cube aquarium. It just has 30liters but like with the tub it could be potentially dangerous. Since it sits on my office desk, and my bed is right beside there I needed to block any potential way up the desk from the bed. That said, make sure to block a ferrets way to any other enclosed animals you may own, like rodents or reptiles, for their and the ferrets savety. Buy locks for reptile enclosures and make sure to keep pet rats, hamsters etc in a room where the ferrets can't access. It reduces the stress of those prey animals and prevents them, or your ferret getting injured.

These are GREAT tips! Thanks for sharing.
