No, it was more like 170 miles added. That last digit was the tenths. You can tell by how it was yellow compared to the others. And yes, there was a time when the odometer would roll backwards, but eventually they fixed that.

This was a fun weekend movie at a unique theater we had til Katrina rolled in and ventilated it. It played late movies after they had their initial run. Tickets were a couple bucks and they had recliners and tables. You could get nachos for the group or even whole pizzas, massive drinks. It was a fitting end to a night of cruising, a little stoplight drag racing, and general carousing. We'd all wind up at The Silver Screen for a midnight show. This was a favorite. Even Deadpool paid homage to it. So did Spider Man Homecoming.

16:21 JESSE~ I wasn't even thinking about your love of cars until Ferris told Cameron he had to fix the issue with Rooney. Then I realized how much you'd appreciate the Ferrari plot line. : ) John Hughes made amazing coming of age movies. Breakfast Club is one of the bests and I've seen it used in educational settings. And how do you not love Duckie in Pretty in Pink?

Despite Matthew Broderick's problematic past I'd still recommend the film Election (1999). It has extremely frenetic energy to it and also stars Reese Witherspoon and Chris Klein. Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) is another film gem starring John Cusack (and his sister Joan), Minnie Driver & Dan Aykroyd.

This is one of my favorite John Hughes films. A classic that me, my Mom and my uncle watched in the theater when it first came out. We laughed our heads off and then went out for pizza afterwards. It was a great day out. If you liked this film, I would suggest checking out other Hughes cult classics like Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful and The Breakfast Club. Also, another great non-Hughes film in a very similar vein called No Small Affair. They're all cult classic 80's coming of age films.

1. Alan Ruck was 29 when filming. 2. Charlie Sheen didn't sleep for 48 hours prior to his scene to get into character, 3. Ah, the days when MTV played videos. 4. IRL Broadrick and Grey had a thing going during the shoot. 5. Not pealing out in front of Rooney would have stopped him from going after Ferris. 6. They have a doggie door, odds are they have a dog. DA 7. This was John Hughes' ode to his hometown of Chicago. John Hughes. 8. I'm not in line to be his "best friend" because I wouldn't let him walk all over and/or Bull$hit me. 9. GOOF: It's awfully late in the day to have a full bus load of kids. 10. That same school was also used for "Uncle Buck", Weird Science" and "The Breakfast Club".

It's no wonder Jean turned out the way she did when you see how her mother treats her. When she did the emergency stop near the end of the film her mother instantly assumes she is fooling around and never even considers that she probably hit the breaks for a legitimate reason. She just starts getting angry and sorting her papers. She doesn't even bother to look up to see if there was an actual reason for Jean stopping. Seeing that sort of behaviour compared to how she sees her mother treat Ferris, it's no wonder she feels and acts the way she does.
@jessebatres6895
@jessebatres6895 Ай бұрын
Great observation! It helps us sympathize with Jean's character a bit because I think many of us can relate. There's always that one person that seems to get away with so much or get praise and rewards for giving minimal effort. Jean sees through it and is frustrated that no one else seems to realize it as well.

@@jessebatres6895 After this movie, John Hughes included closing credit and post credit scenes or moments in a few of his films. Before this movie, there weren't post credit sequences outside of Airplane! In Gremlins 2, the film broke and there was a blank screen and everyone in the theater groaned, until the Gremlins made shadow puppets and we realized it was part of the film.

I agree with you, Ferris is a sh*tty friend. I never understood why everyone thought he was so cool. Ferris totally took advantage of Cameron and was only thinking about himself. He never once considered Cameron, except for that brief instant when he thought he had drowned. I've always felt that Ferris is a terrible person. Yes, Cameron has to deal with his father but he had to do it on Ferris' terms. That wasn't fair.

To me this has always been a perfect movie. Sure the fact it's oozing nostalgia but the combination of the camera work, the music and score, as well as one of the best scripts ever ties it up for me. But there is one major issue: the character Edward Roonie is played by Jeffery Jones. He plays an adult chasing essentially children around Chicago. Later on after the film he would be listed as a registered sex offender of children. So the ick factor is pretty high for me personally.
