Hey there! I'm definitely going to check out The Clone Wars. I'll be uploading a post either tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll be reacting to all the episodes and they'll be available for free on my Patreon, which I just launched. I'll then be uploading them to KZbin. The reason for this is because KZbin is pretty stringent on Star Wars stuff and I like to include as much as possible. I'll have the first 2 episodes available on Patreon this week. I'm going in chronological order as well :) This will give people a chance to watch them on Patreon, and I may have to then edit them down some more to get them through the KZbin overlords lol!

18:30 We learn right here, that Seth is a terrible scientist. You never tell the subject which one is the control and which one isn't. By revealing that information she may have given a faulty answer.... But that is actually subtle foreshadowing (Also he hints at this earlier when he talks about how he built the telepods.) 19:22 You know... The way the movie is structure, it does make Stathis look bad in the first act, but when you see the whole movie and pull back, realize that the movie has multiple themes at play. One of them is the failings of people in relationships. Brundle is jealous, Stathis is obsessive, and Veronica SUCKS at communication. It can, and does, paint a picture of what the Stathis-Veronica relationship was probably like. What we see in the movie is a relationship in its death throws, and Veronica jumps into a romance with Seth before she's done with Stathis. 21:00 yep, the movie got you. She's rushing way too fast, and you as the audience, are bought in. They barely know each other and she's already slept with him and is talking about going on a trip. Why? Because Veronica is, and I hate to say this, a bit of a monkey-brancher. Seth, of course, is naive, slightly stunted socially, and as we see in a minute... 22:52 This is Stathis actually showing he's not the guy you think he is. He does genuinely care about her, probably really did love her a great deal. It wasn't perfect. It was human. 23:17 ...There it is. The jealousy, and insecurity. Seth is impulsive. 25:15 Yeah, but again, Seth isn't actually the greatest scientist. IN reality a test like that would need IMMENSE control... and of course the other aspect is he's working in a pretty dusty/dirty apartment. Which should be teaming with other biological matter. Some people speculate the telepods have some level of sterilizing going on during the porting, but the movie doesn't really cover that. 25:47 Yeah, the movie wants you to judge him like that, but in reality if most people were honest about some of their break ups they would admit that we've all done things we regret in the process of a break up. 28:57 Interesting thing that is never explicitly stated here, but I sincerely believe this after seeing the movie many times. I think Seth's human side, the need to reproduce, goes into over-drive after being fused with the fly DNA. At this point he still derives pleasure from the act. 30:17 Her line amuses me in retrospect, because she hadn't been with Seth for very long at this point. She actually doesn't really know him. They talked, they had a date, they slept together, they continued to sleep together after he fixed the telepod, and then he went through. She only knew him, max, for a couple weeks up to this point. That's not enough time for a person's true personality to be fully mapped out. So, for all she knows, this could actually be what he's really like when he doesn't get his way. Ditto for the audience, in fact. 33:50 Right there. The look on his face is no longer a man who is taking pleasure from sex. It starts hurting. His hyper-active sex drive begins to break down now. The Fly DNA starts to win the battle inside of him. The human part of him is officially dying. 34:32 Here's the really scary thought. Seems pretty obvious that Seth had a marathon with her... and there's no indication that they used protection. - It's possible Seth impregnated Tawny. 40:54 Seth. Stathis may be a bit of a prick, but he *does* care about her. Recall back to what Veronica said earlier "How could he(Stathis) not be?(In love with me.)" That says a lot about how Veronica thinks about herself, and the way she behaves with men. It's not so clear cut and dry that Stathis is just a badguy. Far from it, in fact. 43:01 Because the reality is, he wasn't *that big* of a fucker. He was just a boyfriend who got left behind and he was (rightfully) hurt. We see it from her and Seth's perspective, and we're rooting for them to be together, so we automatically assume he's a POS. 44:56 Most people don't catch it on a first watch, but his penis is in that cabinet. The final resting place of his human reproductive system, and no hope of continuance of his humanity beyond himself. Also the rather violent displacement of his furniture in the apartment paints a picture of some horrifying things that we've missed up to this point. 47:59 The affirmation of the previous point. His humanity is draining fast. Even his word use here is limited. Which gets more and more extreme from this point of the movie going forward. In the end, the movie is about the breakdown of relationships and human frailty, and it's about the loss of a loved one to addiction, obsession, or disease. In the end, none of them were happy. As a suggestion, not entirely related, but one of my personal favorite movies and one selfdom covered "A Simple Plan" from 1998. I think you will enjoy it.

Jeff Goldblum & Geena Davis had undeniable chemistry which extended to real life for about 5 years of marriage. Davis starred with Goldblum in a ridiculous but cult-classic film called Earth Girls are Easy (1988) which is as silly as it sounds. She is spectacular in The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) with Samuel L Jackson - don't even want to spoil that movie with a synopsis. Most teleporters are limited to places they can see - you need line-of-sight so blinding a teleporter or being unable to focus limits the ability. The 2008 film; Jumper with Hayden Christensen centered around a teleporting character if you haven't seen it. There's a comic book character from MARVEL's New Mutants named Lila Cheney who's considered a celestial teleporter because she can ONLY teleport long distances - from Earth to the Moon and farther for example.
@jessebatres6895
@jessebatres6895 Күн бұрын
It definitely doesn't surprise me how they ended having a real relationship, their chemistry was so good in this film! I have "The Long Kiss Goodnight" on my list so looking forward to that one :) As far as teleporting, I guess I want the deluxe package lol and would want to travel across the world in a split second. If I could only do it where I have line of sight than I'd rather go with "regeneration/healing factor" and go fight crime haha! But the downside of that would be outliving the people you love. I guess telekinesis would be next 😂 What would you pick???

@@jessebatres6895 Shapeshifting would be fun. Mystique was used better in the X-Men comics but her line in the X-2 film about mutants not having to hide who they are speaks volumes - and makes up for how they handled her in that first trilogy. In the comics, Raven and a woman named Irene Adler (a mutant who could see the future) were lovers but the MARVEL comics code wouldn't let that fly in the 80's. Mystique actually shape-shifted into a man to sire a child with Irene who of course grows up to be Nightcrawler.

This came out at the peak of practical fx work in the 80s. Horror was becoming more mainstream and acceptable. SPFX work was being recognized and acknowledged as an art. CGI has its place. It should be used in circumstances where it is impossible to create a physical, practical effect like the character of Gollum. The best CGI is stuff you don't even see. The problem is also that Spielberg set the bar so high with Jurassic Park that no one is willing to put on the work and do it correctly. And the more audiences accept bad CGI, the more you'll see.

This was great to see at 15 yro in the theater, & is a masterpiece itself, but i was first turned on to Cronenberg at 10 in another of his masterpieces "Scanners" when my mom's mother died. She pawned me & my sis off on dad for a while & i remember seeing 3 great movies with just us & dad. That one, a great based on true case horror supernatural hardly anyone nowadays remembers called "The Entity", & the only King Arthur flick i ever cared for, ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE "Excalibur". Sad to say i could never enjoy Lord of the Rings because many of us 70s kids are allergic to cgi😅, but if whoever made that had made LOTR with zero cgi i believe i would've loved it/them. After Scanners Cronenberg's "Videodrome" hit & is considered a cult classic masterpiece all its own, is prophetic af, but not for everyone.😅 Same with his "Naked Lunch" if your familiar with William S. Burroughs, not for everyone!😅 Another great pick. Unfortunately i missed the last few drops. Will catch up on your journey when i can. Hope all's well, stays well, friend. Happy Holidays!
