Bueller? Bueller? Josh gathers the cast of Ferris Bueller--as well as some VERY special surprise guests--to pay tribute to one of the most iconic films of the 80's and the man who created it. Be here at 9am PT/12pm ET on June 28th, because you know, life moves pretty fast.... and you are not going to want to miss this!
Directed by James Merryman
Produced by Meghan Monaco
Executive Produced by Taylor Stuewe
Edited by Will Newell & Alex Stuewe
FEATURING:
Matthew Broderick
Alan Ruck
Mia Sara
Jennifer Grey
....and many more!
Thank you to our episode partner Barefoot Wine. Barefoot believes in bringing communities together, so they are sponsoring this episode of Reunited Apart and will be kicking off our fundraising efforts this week with a $25,000 donation. And thank you to all of you who are able to add on to this donation this week as well. For this episode, we’re fundraising for CORE. CORE provides financial relief when a food and beverage employee with children faces a health crisis, death or natural disaster. As the world faces the biggest pandemic in our lifetime, they continue to honor their mission by providing support to families affected by COVID-19.

Ferris Bueller was filmed at my high school, while school was in session. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life when John Hughes and Matthew Broderick came to check out our drama class rehearsing for a play. I'll never forget how kind and generous with their time they were.

I still remember being the only kid left in the theatre at the end if the credits in the aisle when Ferris tells me why are you still here. I tried to calling my brother to come back in the theatre but he missed. My greatest movie theater memory of all time. From that day on I always stay till the end and the lights come on. It didn't payoff much in the 90s but since Marvel success the Bueller tradition has paid out.

Nowadays so many teen movies, they're objects of derision or it's all sex jokes or whatever, but he treated kids like they have problems, they have worries, and he honored all of that."_ When you watch these movies as a teenager, this is exactly the tone they radiate. You feel like you matter, that your problems still matter even if you're not an adult. As Grey said, it felt like John Hughes was validating your point-of-view and experience as a teenager. Confession: parts of this made me feel pretty emotional and I choked back a few tears. Per the end, these are all the movies I grew up with and they mean a lot to me. It was so great to see everyone again...and admittedly, a bit scary seeing them all getting older...but alas, it’s better than the alternative. Great cameos at the end and I think it’s great they showed John Candy quite a few times. Still miss that guy! Btw, now our 15 son loves FBDO too, in fact, he reminds me a lot of Ferris...coincidence?

I'm sure there will be more. The series has been incredibly popular and has raised a ton of money for good causes. We have to keep in mind that these are all filmed 3-4 weeks before they are released so this was likely done at the end of May. That said, summer is here now and even though we are still in a pandemic, people are still wanting to enjoy their summer and relax so it might just be hard to get groups together for the next few months. Perhaps we'll get another run this fall or winter.

As a child of the 80s, I don't know a single person my age who doesn't cherish this movie as well as all of John Hughes' movies. As a lover of art, those scenes in the Art Institute stick with me, particularly of the close-up of Cameron looking at the Seurat painiting and how the camera goes further and further in to see the detail of the dots. Brillant! Sloan's line at the end by the pool that 'sooner or later we all go to the zoo". Truth! I think about it all the time! I met Mia Sara, once, in Scotland. At the time, she was married to Sean Connery's son. I said Hi, to them. She said Hi back. Ah, good times.

Life moves pretty fast if you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it. That quote always stuck with me through life with this film. Ferris was so cool, he teached us kids how to lie to our parents pull a sicky off school. The film is a classic always will be. ❤️

Ehhhhh. More kids would have just cluttered up the storyline and distracted from the rivalry between Ferris and Jeannie. I would rather have seen a longer scene with Garth (Charlie Sheen).

@@lesterlemenwater666 Yes. Ferris had a younger sister (younger than Jeannie) and a young brother. The Inside Story Ferris Bueller documentary mentions them.
