Very thorough! I grew up in Northbrook and remember when the film crews filmed the street I grew up on in 85. All the kids were chasing the car that was driving while being filmed. My street was the one you filmed with the old lady who was swerving in front of Ferris’ dad. It’s Mallard Drive and within walking distance of Glenbrook north. It’s a day I won’t forget. My parent’s house is the first reddish house in the scene on the right side of the street. If you watch the whole scene and lookout the back window of the old lady’s car/Ferris’ dad’s car you can see kids following right before it cuts away. These are my neighbors.

Pretty cool. Sometimes I have dreams of my house I grew up in being part of a movie set.

Found Mallard Dr. on Google Earth, thanks! It looks like the old lady came out onto the street from that circle between 2013 and 2043? Very nice neighborhood, and it looks like only about a 10 minute drive to Harrison St. in Des Plaines where Maine North High School used to be, now the Illinois State Lottery office that they filmed the exterior for The Breakfast Club!
@davidsanders54145 ай бұрын
@@georgehenderson7783 also 10 minute walk to where they filmed the outside scenes at Glenbrook North (center for performing arts-CPA and front of school-“shermerville high school”). Addresses sound correct. Very strange, but also amazing to see your childhood home in such an iconic movie. Btw, my son had practices for basketball near the old Maine North hs. There’s an elementary school called Apollo which is basically next door to old Maine North.

The part where you talk about, Jeffrey Jones, soliciting teenagers, and saying that he’ll never work again or he becomes president made me laugh my ass off As I keep watching the video it blows my mind that most of the places in the movie were filmed in LA more than Chicago

Northbrook was originally Shermerville. Noted on the John Hughes plaque The school you now see from the PAC steps at Glenbrook North is Maple School which is a junior high school. They built this new one right behind where the original stood

Went to maple and GBN. I have kids at maple now. Interior is nice but they should have added more green space (like there was at the old building).

In my grade school I grew up in a Mexican neighborhood. We had a couple whites and no blacks. If I recreated a movie and added blacks and some kind of quota to make it diverse it would be untrue. Kudos to John Hughes for not giving in to that. Diversity is not our strength nor is it our weakness it just is.

Man, I was really enjoying this until you started with the whole "Diversity" stuff. SMH.. Why can't you all understand that it's not the job of a film to showcase different types of people. It's the job of a filmmaker to tell a story and entertain. They have no responsibilities other than that. John Hughes wrote many things based on personal experiences. If all he knew was being around a certain group of people, why should he try to do anything differently? You guys kill me. 🤮
