Ferry Cross the Mersey - Gerry and the Pacemakers cover MNL Musikero Ng Lagro

Released in 1964 for the movie and the album with the same title, it reached top 10 in both UK and US charts. The song was written by Gerry Marsden, with reference to the Mersey river which runs along Liverpool. It's where young bands play in clubs like the Cavern. Merseybeat was the term used for the music style of the British bands of the era, popularly known as the British Invasion, led by bands like the Beatles, the Searchers, the Hollies, the Who, Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Animals, the Rolling Stones, and others. Gerry and the Pacemakers was managed by Brian Esptein, who also managed the Beatles. This song is a favorite of my dad, singing along everytime he hears it.
