@@franciscruickshank8794 well how does an independent Scotland propose to get goods transported to mainland Europe .You can't build ships to ship it and it is a 500 mile 2 day voyage to France .And often the truck will come back empty as there is relatively little return traffic to Scotland .Ireland has the same problem -they only have half the distance but 50% of truck's return empty.And that hugely increased transport costs -have you looked at Irish ferry charges compared to the 2 hour voyage from Dover and the 30 hours from Ireland.

CMAL don’t build ships they operate ferries and ports. They placed a contract with a shipyard to build two ferries. The contract means it’s the shipyard’s responsibility to get the ships built (failed). The Scottish government nationalised the shipyard taking responsibility for the contract. They also appoint the management of the shipyard.
