This thing requires a complete forensic examination . If a BBC reporter is able to carry out a successful investigation imagine what a Public Inquiry might be able to achieve . I have no experience of contracts, ship building or even a trade, but I would hope that along with the contracts there would be costing at regular intervals, schedules of work completed and jobs still to be done, regular time forecasts, and a cost over run budget of say 20% a bit high but even at a 50% over run it would still be cheaper than the cost e.g 97 million plus 50% is 48.5 million so roughly 145 million but it’s over ran by 250 million and now even longer delivery times. Why? Why so late? Why so expensive? Why no ferries? Why no accountability? Why the silence? Why no answers? Surely we must have the knowledge in this country to build two ferries? What about the islanders? They pay tax for a lifeline service that doesn’t and won’t exist for years yet why ?

Nationalism when it suits? Public procurement laws and regulations are/were laid down by the EU, and Scotland under SNP rule have been all about a return to the EU. You want to have cake and eat it too? I’d be surprised if the EU commission doesn’t also initiate an enquiry into this travesty, seeing as the tender was released when we were part of the union, and any favouritism or administrative discrepancy shown, would be regarded as being illegal in its disadvantaging European bidders.
