i used to take the overnight ferry from split to Ancona Italy several times a year both directions, always enjoyed it sometimes in the summer it was so warm we would take a couple bottles of wine and picnic supplies and spend the whole night on deck watching the stars and lulled by the the ship plowing its way through the Adriatic laze our way till dawn and the Croatian coastal islands appeared mirage like...

Thanks for your comment ....I'm from Montana too!!!!! I grew up in SW Montana... life long Montanan....so fun to meet fellow traveler...I worked in croatia after the war doing land reclamation and horticultural work after mine removal in the national parks and other natural areas...I fell in love with the Balkans they are in so many places every bit as wild and amazing as our very special place called Montana ...I just got back from a business and work trip to Europe...I flew out out of bozeman) to Minneapolis, then to Iceland , in Iceland I went up to Seydisfjordur in NE Iceland...caught the ferry to the Faroe Islands ( 18 hours across a very stormy North Atlantic)I've done this in the summer but wanted to do it in the winter and catch the winter skies.....then another 36 hours on the ferry to Denmark ....caught cheap flight on Air Baltic to Amsterdam in time to see the light festival...and go to the concertegbouw ( for us from Montana with our amazing winter light.... Amsterdam is awesomely moody and damp and misty fun stuff in the winter)...then my Swiss cousin and i went to London for a long weekend and to see the Lumiere...the did a lil business in Germany and flew Norwegian Air back to denver...and then w drove back home....

Love it. I adore the idea of overnight ferries but in reality, the last few journey I've done by sea bound ferry have been unpleasant. I think it's the engine vibes. The last time i was on one from Kristiansand in Norway back to Denmark as soon as the engine started up........ I knew. It was only three hours but it was enough! It's so annoying when you've bought 'all you can eat' restaurant tickets too!

I just got done with 22 hours plus of flight travel on Friday so I know what long travels is like. I don’t sleep well on planes maybe nod off for 2 minutes at a time. So due to the lack of sleep and time change from Saigon to Vegas I slept for 12 hours when I got home I haven’t done that in years. That combined with some bus travel around Cambodia and Vietnam the last week I was a little sore when I got home.
@samuelandaudrey6 жыл бұрын
Oh, that is a busy schedule. I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like we're going on adrenaline for a while not sleeping and feeling nervous while flying to the point that we kind of hit the wall a couple or few days later and sleep 12+ or more hours as well. Hope you feel better soon. You'll have lots of memories to think about.

Helps with time zones too and taking pet with you.

Did you know that the sistership of "Dubrovnik"ex " Connacht" ,built in 1979 (Jadrolinija, ex B&I line) is in Canada near Halifax named "Madeleine",built in 1980/81 ( C.T.M.A Traversier ,exB&I line ) ex "Leinster" ?!
@simlab573 жыл бұрын
Yes, the M/V Madeleine is a sistership. She is in Canada. She make a trip between Souris, Prince Edward Island and Cap-aux-Meules (Magdalen Islands (Île-de-la-Madeleine in french)) Quebec. In few weeks, the ship go to lay-up. and maybe this spring, she go to scrap. For the sistership, the accomodations inside is very different. But the Dubrovnik is nice.

Loved seeing the inside of the cabins which is helpful as was the tip of red wine, many thanks. Regards Robyn & Ken

Thank you very much Robyn & Ken. If I remember correctly it opened like 4-5 hours before the ferry departed and the booth is located nearby the departure point. Great video. So when are you going to the the video on "This is how we don't put weight on video" Explaining how you get the balance with what you do and keep looking so fit.
@samuelandaudrey6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think only Audrey would be qualified to make that as my weight has fluctuated up and down over the years. I think the key for her is small portions.

OK. So Audrey, it is over to you.

That was a long trip! How was the communication there? When you go to the bus station, restaurants, how is it? During our time in Hungary, sometimes it was pretty easy and other times it was hard. Luckily Eric speaks Hungarian.
@samuelandaudrey6 жыл бұрын
Most of the time it is okay but sometimes we need to point to indicate what we want.

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos thanks for the quick response. In the all the countries you have been to in the past year, which country has been the easiest and the one that was the most difficult regarding communication?

Egypt is actually one of worst countries I have ever visited. Tons of scammers, dirt and danger.

Lol, Sam and cheese don’t go well together? But I have seen Sam eat ton of food that has cheese in it! Are you lactose intolerant? I found out that I developed this about a year ago. I was fine growing up and then wham, it hits me later in life! Now I take lactose pills whenever I have dairy type foods! lol

How did Audrey referring to Sam's dairy issue make it through the final edit? Now every time I see Sam eating dairy I'll be thinking about the fallout.

LOL, poor Audrey ;) This was a while ago but I think I got things under control before we boarded the ferry. I think I might be somewhat lactose intolerant now. I'll try taking lactose pills!
