Quale forte emozione mi provoca sentire questi suoni, le armonie e melodie della mia gioventù... Suonate con gli stessi strumenti, che erano un sogno impossibile persino vedere, in quegli anni!! Complimentoni veramente: orgoglio italiano... Anzi: Italo!! ;)

@sm1le68 Really? Which one? I wasn't really going after a Synth Pop / Pet Shop Boys feel - this is more Italo. Is it perhaps for the use of the orchestra hit? Many tracks from that era use the orchestra hit.

@roy89321 the Juno string pad or the melody line? The melody line is a Synclavier sampler played on the Emulator, which gives it even more character, and I added a bit of subtle vibrato on the Emulator. The Synclavier was at heart an FM machine and this is just a phenomenal sound, but you can get similar results with a Yamaha FM machine, perhaps stacking the sounds multitimbrally.

@TheLazerTank Actually, I'm not switching samples on the Emulator. I set up a split with the orchestra hit on the left side of the keyboard, and the Synclavier fm bell on the right side of the keyboard.

@sm1le68 hehehe, I think you're right... I remember very well the PSB naming a song "Paninaro", which was a "movement" in Italy especially from the Milan area - kids wearing the fashion of the time and going to fast food places. I was never a Paninaro but Italy was doing well on many fronts including music, in the '80s... a far cry from today's Italy (sigh)
@SynthManiaDotCom13 жыл бұрын
@BlackMan614 hehehe, thank you ;-) Actually, there are many other '80s cliche' sounds that are missing in this track... the Fairlight vox, TR-808, DX7 e. piano and e. bass, Oberheim brass, and I could go on and on ;-) See my "Famous Sounds" page for more

The main section immediately made me think of Domino Dancing, although its nothing specific. The orch hits are certainly the main thing, but also the style of drum pattern. I'm in little doubt that PSB lifted heavily from some Italian dance music at times!

@SynthManiaDotCom The melody line. I think it's better when accompanied by the Juno string pad, bright and with a little bit of warm mid. Actually I found myself always lost in the large amount of sounds of a synthesizer, and don't know how to match them.

I really wonder how this orchestra hit could become so popular at that age. It was like a plague, almost.
@derekbaker32796 жыл бұрын
Like everything else in pop music, it is an excellent at the beginning, but corporate greed & sheep-like entertainers force songwriters & bands to use the same trick over & over, until everyone gets sick of the trick. Then people need 30 years to purge the trick from their memory before they can enjoy the music again. 😕
