Merry Christmas Ash. You are likely too humble to truly appreciate the value you add to the lives of gentlemen young and old, but I’m glad the many gents in the comments section are letting you know. Enjoy your festivities, Sir.

Ash, my friend, you nailed it with this one. You probably don't even realize your gentle brilliance. You touched all of the bases with this show and I enjoyed every minute of it. The stories of soldiers fighting for the best when they are given the worst is priceless. May you have a great Christmas and wonderful 2025!

Merry Christmas to you, Ash and your family. I'm watching this on Christmas Eve ( in Canada ). Had an early dinner with my wife who just left for work at our local hospital . I poured a Whisky ( Crown Royal ) as you suggested and toasted the " Desert Rats" with you. Love your woodwork around the fire pit. Something to be said for a hardy soup on a chilly day! All the best.

Merry Christmas Ash, this story reminds me of my father who served in WWII and hearing how they created a holiday in those bleak desert sands makes me smile. What a great gift you have given us, look forward to seeing what the next year brings.

Nadolig Llawen, Merry Christmas and Frohe Weihnachten my dear chap. Your video reminds me of the Lord of the rings: It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.

Please have in mind: On the German side the soldiers do exactly the same. Ask soldiers and ordinary people- they would stop any war immediately...who is to blame?!

Reflect the peace and freedom we enjoy today??? Ash, We (Including UK) are in WW3, definately the worst state of global affairs since 1944. Merry Christmas to you and thanks for posting so many enjoyable videos in 2024. India Mark

What crap is this? What WW3? How many British servicemen have died in action this year? There are two localised wars going on and a renewed Cold War … nothing we didn’t have during the 1970s and 1980s … by Xmas 1944 it was obvious the war was won … happy Xmas …
