My first Festool Review and I'm starting at the top with the NEW Battery Table Saw. The Festool CSC SYS 50 Jobsite saw is a nifty bit of kit, but is it worth it?

I mean, some heavy duty paper equipment is pretty similar to wood tools. Paper drills, for example. I have had a notebook or two that had angled edges. A beveled cut on this would be perfect.

How many dudes that own two boats, seventeen hand guns and thirty television sets have come in to say that they can’t afford Festool yet? @@Therealphantomzero so you have another set of batteries? On a charger I presume?.. the charger being plugged in? … see the issue here? you don’t need any batteries at all if this things got a cord. a cord into the extractor. @Therealphantomzero

@@richiejames928 um I get it, I would prefer to be hybrid. But cordless is a benefit. When doing installed finding a convenient plug is an issue. Sometimes no power. So I have a corded extractor but I also have a cordless one. My trailer has. 6kwhr battery with solar, so if no power I can keep batteries charged but running extension is not always convenient. This is actually why I use Metabo HPT tools whenever I can because it has hybrid option. Miter saw, just got the track saw, etc. So far on this install I'm on I've been using one set of batteries for the last few days. The other job I had to do was in equivalent size but more detailed scribing was involved. Cutting hard maple etc. So I didn't have another set of batteries. So by lunch I was charging and back up and running. We only had one outlet to use. And extractor kept popping new arc fault systems. So it's a big benefit to have batteries now

it is a well designed finish saw. One thing I noticed it with all the digital components, they didn't make the fence have a digital readout. A simple laser pointed at the blade would make that easily possible. But it also makes me wonder about longevity with all the motors involved. Keeping my Metabo HPT/Hikoki 36v table saw. Simpler, more rugged design. And AC power when I have it.

Yes please, I would love to see more Festool reviews. Perhaps a faceoff between the Makita and Festool mitre saws or recip saws? There are some who don't understand the difference between a delicate finishing tool like the CXS 12 and a standard battery drill so it would be good to compare like for like where possible. Thank you kindly for the video.

I am a Festool fan, and a Makita fan. I personally do not have a need for a battery powered tablesaw, but it is fun to see a saw like this hit the market. I would agree that Festool saws tend to feel under powered, but they are precise and when used with their dust exractors they tend to get the job done and relatively dust free. It is frustrating that they come out with an updated track saw that basically just has a thinner blade on it to make it feel more powerful, but they won't sell you a thinner riving knife so you can upgrade your existing saw with the thinner blade. Why Festool makes a charger that doesn't have fans is beyond me. They make them with fans, and they are only a little more expensive, but they don't sell them with tools or battery sets. For that its hard for this Festool fan not to raise the middle finger to them. So hard in fact that I am pecking out this little rant with my two middle fingers. Festool, you are supposed to be premium. Start including your best tools/accessories for sale in kits. You offer a floor cleaning set (577259) but the hose is only 3.5m long. Why not let us pick our own hose length separately so we could get a 5m or 7m one? You don't need the hose in the box, let us buy two boxes, (accessories in one, hose in the other) but at the combo price.

The Festool saw clocks in at about 80 dB. How about your deWalt? DeWalt’s corded ones, i.e the 7491 (US) and its European sibling the 7492 clocks in at 105 dB! Bigger blade, but you can’t really use it in e.g. a basement shop with neighbours on two sides. The Festool, albeit with a smaller blade, can be used in such a setting. If you need to rip larger sheets a track saw might be an option (I do like my Makita track saw).

Last month, when I passed through Sydney and tried to buy it, it was already sold out everywhere, one benefit of this saw is that it can share blades with my TS60 track saw. The 5.2 Ah battery is an old model, the new 4 Ah battery has a higher output. Therefore, Festool always uses the 4 Ah battery for demonstrations.

It looks like the saw comes with the 42 tooth fine finish blade. I don't know why they include that because it's not at all appropriate for thick rip cuts. They sell a 28 tooth universal blade that would be much better all around and on a job site, or better yet get the 16T ripping blade for rip cuts. The battery should last longer with fewer teeth too.

Hi. The Festool I have read is underpowered and I use a lot of hard wood. The build quality is not amazing on the Metabo, but it has more power and deeper depth of cut. Another factor is that it can run on the Bosch/Mafell track saw rails, and I already have 5. Batteries are not an issue, where I am it is a lot cheaper than Festool.

Absolutely not because of the batteries. For the price it should have both a corded and cordless in one unit and the miter gauge should be top of the line like incra. it drives me nuts that you only set the blade high enough to BARELY cut the material, this is stupid in real world applications where you may have some warped wood or the piece is very long and it might lift just a little towards the end. why not just raise the blade so that it is well thru the material? it is not safer to have the blade barely cut thru the wood, this is some weird myth people seem to have bought in to in a big way. if the wood kicks back and somehow pulls your hand back thru it will still cut you even if it is barely thru the wood. if you are not paying attention and you run your finger thru the blade as you cut it will not matter if it is barely thru the wood or 2": thru the wood you will still cut yourself.
