Hi Peter, after only owning one cordless screwdriver for many years and forever swapping Chuck items, I’ve finally got round to owning the CXS. What a time saver. It’s the first time I’ve used the centrotec system and I’m really impressed. I purchased a package deal which came with the 90° attachment and a spare battery. Your in-depth review confirmed my decision to purchase 🤗 Many thanks.

I am so pleased that I was able to help. That 90 degree attachment really is a useful accessory - I have lost count of the number of times that it has saved my bacon. Cheers. Peter

Paper specs show the T drills have a bit more power over the C drills but the C drills have a holding position that is more inline with the chuck instead of below for better pressure on the chuck.

I can't wait to try one out. I am planing on getting one of the 18v models. I am undecided on which one to get.

I have found the great difference between cxs and txs to be the preassure from your hand. CXS allows for a handplacement more alligned with the preassurepoint of the screw.

Hi Ragnar, Yes, the experience is different depending on whether it is the CXS or TXS. I like them both but tend to use the TXS for drilling and the CXS for driving screws. Cheers. Peter

Great evaluation Peter. Well, I finally weakened and bought the CXS. I already have all the other Festool drill/drivers. Two of them are Protool which are virtually identical to the Festool. I wanted a cabinet drill that wouldn't get heavy and would be less aggravating to my arthritic hands. At first I looked at the latest Bosch and Makita 12V drills. We don't as yet have the Bosch drill/driver with the fastfix chuck system in Oz. In comparison I was not impressed with either the Bosch or the Makita. The Makita with third party chuck and right angle attachments was awkward, and lacked balance. It was also about the same price (if you have to add the extras) and did not come in a systainer. The CXS is a delight to use and has a 'point and shoot' balance. It won't rip the heads off screws like some 18V drill/drivers. I like the mechanical clutch and prefer it to the electronic versions in other Festool drills. I'm very impressed.

Hi Stephen, I agree with you that the Festool drill/drivers are all excellent and the CXS is a delight to use. I have two CXS and a TXS which are always on the bench. Cheers. Peter

Festool buys other companies that have the technology it wants such as SawStop, and (I might be wrong here) ProTool. It also shares technology with others such as Bosch and Fein (did the buy Fein?). It doesn't really matter. We all benefit.

Hi Steve, The advice now before you see my final video in the series is for you to get hold of one and try it. It has a different centre of gravity than (say) the PDC18. The PDC 18 has an impact function for drilling into brickwork. The 3rd and final video should be up in about 2 weeks time. Peter
@slhasebroock6 жыл бұрын
I have a DeWalt with the impact/hammer function so thinking that something in the middle for drilling/driving. The Festool Truck was in Omaha so got to handle all the drills. I also have a small Bosch drill so while I would love a CXS for today probably leaning to the C-18. I liked the way the CXS and C-18 felt in my hands! And man, that truck was awesome! Thank you!!!!
@stakwalderbak53314 жыл бұрын
@@slhasebroock I have both the CXS and the C18 along with all the other (except TXS) Festool drills. The CXS is a brilliant screw driver but lacks the power of the C18. However, for cabinet work the CXS is definitely my favourite.

Great video as ever Peter. Do Festool still make the offset or eccentric chuck, personally that would be a useful addition for kitchen and cabinet fitting, can't find it anywhere. I find the TXS more balanced in the hand and easy to get in close where space is tight.

Yes, they do - just take a look at their web site. Peter

Thanks Peter. There is one thing curious about the CXS. Now that the battery does not have that L shape, why would the CXS keep the original shape to enclose the extending part. That makes me think that CXS was kept because of its distinctive and widely recognised shape. Therefore for marketing reasons maybe. I might be wrong though. Cheers.
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Hi Erdem, I do not know what Festool's thought may have been but I think that you are right that some people prefer the shape. Peter

The text at 4:00 is not true: new model CXS CAN take the old 1.5 aH battery. Only the (new) model TXS CANNOT take the old 1.5 Ah battery. I own an old and new model CXS, and I use the old battery on both. The difference between the old and new model CXS is the new model has a battery life indicator; when you pull the trigger green leds will bright up (one, two or three green leds, depending the battery charge state)

The schedule is approximate but I hope to have the C18 video up next Thursday and then the final "Festool Cordless Drill Driver Line-up" video a week after that. Right now the bottom line advice from me is that everyone needs either a CXS or TXS ! Peter
@radekokrajek83923 жыл бұрын
Great video! I love them! Just to mention, CXS also "forces" you to a different hand position on the handle/trigger. You should hold your tool with index finger alligned with the bit and using your middle finger on the trigger on your CXS. It fits and feels much better and controled in your hand, while if you use your index finger on the trigger, it will feel like the handle is a bit too small. There is a slightly different angle between TXS head and handle and it is slightly more spacious therefore you use normal grip a finger placement on that tool. Just my 2 cents ;)

Hi Ken, I love my CXS but am now wishing I had a TXS too. I would have one with the drill chuck in and the other with the Centrotec chuck in - probably the Jacob;s chuck would be in the TXS. Great machines and lovely to use. Peter

@NewBritWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergey, No, it would would probably manage it (just) but it would not be good for the machine. I can't remember the official maximum bit size but I stop at 20 mm. Peter

I recently got the cxs and its wonderful it does all i need it to do but ive noticed that when the tool has rested for some time and it has cooled down on the low rpm(when you barely press on the trigger) it makes kind of a wierd noise as if there is something grinding . So is that normal and it happens cause of the motor not being warmed up or is it something i should be concerned about. That stops happening after just 10 to 5 minutes of wotking the tool.
@NewBritWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
I have not experienced that but it does sound as though you are using the tool beyond its stated capability - take a look at the spec or the manual. If you are unhappy with the tool and it is under the 3 year guarantee then Festool will fix it. Peter

My original CXS started to behave badly after about 5 years of heavy use. It needed new brushes. I made enquiries and discovered that the brushes cannot be replaced and the whole motor gets replaced instead. I got Festool to do this and it cost a lot less than a new machine and it has been working perfectly for the last 3 years. Peter
