Hi Guy: I have seen this product on a email. You did a great demonstration of this product. You made it clear how it works and I liked that very much. Great for closet systems where oftentimes you HAVE to assemble inside the closet itself
@MyGrowthRings
@MyGrowthRings 4 жыл бұрын
Only if you have the room to assemble the connection. Most closet companies use the Rafix connector because with it the shelf can be dropped in from above or by separating the vertical partitions about 1/4”. With this connector you have to have room to bring the partition into place. Perhaps necessitating a filler strip.

Hey Guy, great presentation. With regards to the the domino version of the butt joint. The first piece that you inserted into the domino hole which then accepts the pin, what is preventing that piece from being pulled back out? Is the pin expanding the unit taking advantage of a series of serrated type edges? Cheers mate.

Thanks for the video Guy, you fill a void in the learning curve for this system. I have a question not related to the Connector System but rather what seems to be your table saw extension. It looks like you have made a MFT type extension to your Powermatic, is that the case? if so is it the fence stock or cut off side of the blade? Trying to figure out how I could to that to my stock side with the rails there. Thanks.

Dear Mr. Guy, this is a very good video. One question though; I have a Lamello Clamex system which is comparable. And I also have a Domino DF 500 power tool, and the LR 32 system. Being the advocate of the Devil; what are the main arguments to buy the connectors compared to clamex P (or S). Are the joints considerably stronger? Would you say the system works quicker? Any input is welcome before I run the the hardware store and buy myself the connectors-box.

Guy, I’m building a Murphy bed with my son who is in college. I anticipate he’ll be moving around for a few years after he graduates and may want to disassemble and reassemble the bed several times. I was planning on using pocket screws fully expecting them to stop working well after a few installations. Now I’m thinking of using these connectors. My questions, since you’ve built the identical Murphy bed kit we are using is this, do you think this joining system would be strong enough for the wood frame? Would it hold everything together through a number of setup and take downs? Thanks for the great instructional videos. They are well produced and your instructions are thorough. It’s a huge help.
@GuysShop

These are good for cabinetry projects,but I wouldn't use them on a bed. Look into the cross doweliing jig from Woodpeckers. Much betterand stronger option.
@bendrixbailey1430

@@GuysShop Guy! So good of you to reply and I think you saved me several thousand dollars in tool and parts. This cross downing jig and parts are just the trick. One more question since the woodpecker site does not have much by way of advice, which size of cross dowel hardware would you recommend? The Murphy bed is made of 3/4 top grade two side maple plywood. Which for that wood. And is there a general rule you’d apply to choose hardware for wood dimensions? Again, thanks. Your instructions are fun to watch and very instructive.

I know some pieces of the knock down/assembly fasteners for the Festool 700 XL can not be removed. Do you have the part number of the Festool kit you used for the video? Also what brand/model is the apron you were using in the video. Thanks Guy. Ron

Yes the Festool Domino certainly is innovative but has stamped proprietary all over it from their tenons to the tool. If you think using it to make a living, think again! Festool certainly doesn't leave much of a profit after you take out its costs,in today's competitive market. If your thinking using the Domino to manufacture and market knock-down furniture ... good luck trying to compete with IKEA!

I have looked at this quite a lot, but the price is just prohibitive for what you get. Festool tools are expensive and in my opinion worth it. +happyhappyjoyjoy9999 Festool are a small company and for them to develop accessories costs a lot of money. It may only seem like a little bit of plastic to you but to them it requires designers, fabricators and then production schedules. And then they have to try and make profits with their production. All that innovation costs money because it has to be designed, tested and then put to market. All it takes is for them to release a product that sucks time and resources out of another product and then all of a sudden they have got the market wrong. Mafell is the same and this applies to other small companies out there.

Festool USA refused to repair my kapex and couldn't/didn't repair my OF1400. I sold my kapex and bought a Makita LS1219L and I was forced to repair my OF1400 router myself. The router bit wasn't centered in the guide bushing plate and unlike every other manufacturer's router, it isn't a simple adjustment to get it centered. I had to grind away part of the guide bushing plate in order to get it centered. Festool had it at their facility and couldn't fix it. Not every product Festool sells is a quality product. They do sell lemons and then will refuse to fix or replace. Potential customers should be warned that Festool might or might not perform needed repairs after the 30-day trial period.
