Very nice demonstration of the integration of the OF1400 into the Festool system. Using the MFT/3 and the dust collection you demonstrated cutting extremely accurate dados, rabbets and stopped cuts. Notice the lack of dust, especially the fine dust that is so dangerous for human pulmonary systems. Thanks, you have given me an impetus to use my OF1400 with the MFT to create sliding dovetails. Thanks again.

Hi and thank you for getting back to me I will definitely put what you said into practice as soon as I get set up. I had another thought- if I were to make a stopped grove like a flute and I purchased the two stops for the guide rail so I start and stop where I want, as soon as I move the rail to do another grove right next to the previous one- if I don’t put the rail down correctly in other words not to high or low on the work piece or the next grove will be slightly higher or lower than the last. How do I avoid this? Is there a stop available to locate the rail at the end of the work piece? Cheers Dan

Great video ! Could please explain what the difference is between the grey hose you use and the Green that I have received with my Festool 36E ?
@bradenbuilds
@bradenbuilds 10 жыл бұрын
marinermonty Thanks. The grey hose is a generic 36mm hose I got to supplement the 27mm hose that comes with the CTs. A 36mm hose allows more airflow and helps remove more debris/chips when routing or sawing. The 27mm hose is lighter and more flexible which is a huge benefit when sanding. I have since upgraded my grey 36mm hose to a Festool 36mm hose. It's important to note that the green Festool hoses are anti-static which means they don't attract sawdust or build up static charge in use.

Hi great video. I think I get how to position the router on the rail and adjust up to a pencil line- but how do you decide how far away from the pencil line to lay the track? Also if I purchase the 1400- will this mid sized router work on the track with pin holes for cabinets? I’ve only seen videos using the 1010 model. Cheers Dan

Festool tools usually have markers so you can line up with your pencil mark. So you then move the guide rail which will also move the tool for you and line the tool with the pencil mark. It is the sort of thing you can only understand when you are using it as it is a little hard to explain.

After you reposition the bit -- you need to lock the router down so the router actually follows the line. Video left that essential step out.

I would love to pick your brain about your equipment. What video camera? What lighting? What camera slider? What video editor? What video compression software and what compression settings? Later.

What kind of bit are you using ? This rail can be fit on a porter cable router ?

I have the OF1400. I don't like the flimsy outrigger. I bought a piece of polycarbonate and screw it to the bottom of the router when using it with a guide rail. The router is not at all over the track/the router sits fully on the work piece yet it's level with the track because of the additional whatchajiggy on the bottom of the router.

Hi- Thanks for the video. See you messed up the edge finish at the first angled dado. Putting a sacrificial scrap will provide support when approaching the stroke end avoiding the tear out. Cheers

It is only messed up if you intend to have the cut edge on display. If it is a flush or overhang covering it you do not care. Again down to the person building.

It puzzles me why you stopped making more videos. Clearly you have some talent for making videos. Lighting is great. Automated pans and such are interesting. Why stop with only a few videos?

Please do, I enjoyed this. Particularly when you said you didn't use the micro adjuster. Usually don't get that sort of thing in Festool videos, where every feature of the tool is a "revolution" ;)

Beautifully put together bit of video Braden, thanks. Notice you're plunging in one pass on your dado cuts, is that an up or down spiral cutter you're using? I've been using a rail for fake T&G for the last few years, but hadn't considered doing dado work due to the amount of passes I normally use with a standard twin fluted 12.7mm bit.

Good video, but WHY do you have that horrendous music, if you can call it that, interfere with your own dialogue??? What a turn off. I came here to see the video and hear you explain the functions. If I wanted to hear music, I would go to a music station.
