The Plug-It cord that comes with the TS55 is a heavier gauge cord and the smaller cords that come with the router, sander’s, etc will Not work, with the TS55. That said, the TS55 cord will work with the other tools. The end that the cord plugs into the saw, has different keying to prevent the smaller cords from being used. Congrats on your new saw, I have had and used all the different models of the TS55 during the last 20 odd years, and the new TS55 released recently is the best one yet, with better adjustments and the new thinner blade makes cleaner cuts. Cheers

Congratulations on the Festool beautiful piece of machinery for sure! I personally went with the Makita about a year ago I’m mainly breaking down sheet goods and saved a few dollars! Another great video thanks for sharing!

It’s been nice so far no complaints thanks for asking ! Actually it’s been a work horse for me an I do like the Makita blades as well always wondered if the Festool blades would be interchangeable? I haven’t a clue.

Glad to hear it! I’m not sure how interchangeable Festool’s blades are between tools but I do know they have a selection for the track saw. I also learned recently that Freud makes some Diablo blades that are compatible which I will likely be trying when this blade bites the dust.

I don’t know about the other brands. But actually the Festool saws are designed so that a miter cut actually doesn’t cut further into the splinterguard. Same goes for the different blades within the lineup. Only if you use 3rd party blades or a different saw on the same track, you might want to replace the splinter guard.

@EKEinc Other brands do suffer from this problem (Kreg) but I did verify my TSC 55 K also does not cut into the spliter guard during bevel cuts

This was a very, very helpful video. Keep up the great work. I do have a question, in order to get better dust collection should I get a cover for where the saw blade loosening is done? It doesn’t come with a cover however without it the dust does go out of this opening. Do you know where to buy this cover?

Thanks for your compliment! I’m glad you found it helpful 😊 that’s a great question. Something like the below attachment should work. Honestly, I’ll probably order myself one as well 😂 Dust Cover amzn.to/3vSBZnL

Great video, thanks for sharing. Quick question as I’m trying to make a decision…is that 8/4 hard maple?

Glad you found it helpful! Are you talking about the piece of wood I initialized with? If so, it is hard maple but it’s slightly less than 8/4. However, the saw can technically do 2-1/8” according to Festool. Even then, I have found that my 8/4 ends up being under 2” after jointing and planing. i'd like to hear your experience on cross cutting plywood when you realize you've only got a 55 inch rail and you have to position it exactly so that you have proper cutting into the beginning of the wood and out of the end while keeping the snuggers on the track at both ends. nobody seems to talk about this but it requires making some markings on your rail so you know where to position the track on the start side and where to position the saw on the rail to make the entire cut. only 7 inches longer than the actual plywood so you're not getting a full entry and exit as you might expect.

That’s a great observation. In my case, I haven’t found that I need to line it up perfectly because on the start side, I can plunge cut into the board, without ragged edges, and run just until it exits the board and then retract.

Donʻt forget, the adjustment stop also indicates the depth with the track under the saw! I use my TS55 while doing more precision work and a cordless Makita for everyday jobs, the Makita has features that the Festool does not. Both saws are great and prove their worth. Festool also has a track accessory kit(577157) with very useful items in it. Great video I am sure this saw will be a great asset to your Festool line up!

That’s a great reminder! And interesting! What features does the Makita have that the TS55 doesn’t? Also, thank you for your compliment 😊 I think this will be an awesome asset as well.

@@NorthwestCraftsman The cordless Makita Track Saw has an anti tip extension tab that keeps the saw from tipping off of the track when cutting if the saw is set at a bevel - especially at 45 degrees, the saw has a pre scribe feature that lets the saw pre cut a shallow kerf then a second cut can be done at full depth, there is also an antikick back feature too. Lastly the Makita cordless saw is considerably cheaper. I like both saws. I use a variety of Makita tools daily and always have a bunch of Makita batteries ready to go, with that said I keep the Makita Track Saw and tracks easily accessible in my van. Look into the Festool accessory kit for your TS55, although pricey-317.00-the tools in the kit are valuable.

Don't forget to true up your TS 55 to 90 degrees. Mine was close but not perfect. This does make a difference for glue-ups. Ask me how I know :/

Shoot! I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve done that on my table saw as well 😅 not a good time but a good reminder.
