I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read kzbin.infoUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

The whole point of ideas like this is, how to do something when the easier ways to accomplish the end result aren't available. It's minds like his, that got Apollo 13 back when the genius designs failed. No, it's not the 'best' way. But it IS a way to get things done when you only have an angle grinder, a peanut butter jar, and it's 2 a.m. on a sunday night, and you have to fix something before morning.

If you reload your own ammo, they make a brass tumbler where you put the spent cartridges in then add a "medium"/abrasive mix. It's like cat litter. You turn the tumbler on and walk away. 3-4 hours later your brass is shining. I'm sure it would work for rusty bolts as well. The tumblers aren't very expensive. Some people use them to polish coins or jewelery or anything small and metallic.

Good idea, not sure how long the project took and how long he run the grinder. Probably an easier method is to recover some like rusted bolts and nuts by submerging them in like size jar of white household vinegar. Leave for 24 to 48 hrs recover and wash off the rust with water. If any residual a wire brush will dislodge it. Alternatively wire brush before submerging. Then spray with a rust protector to sustain rust-free

@@mikehudick7074 An on line calculator showed at 10,000 rpm and a 3 inch jar you are taking something like 4000 g's. Can you say "hand grenade"

Pretty ingenious. But the bolt's are still pitted badly. But it's people like you that invent and keep the world moving forward. 👍

no, it's about getting the clicks each click adds up $$$ only a idiot would waste their time and do this especially putting unnecessary wear and tear on your grinder and battery when the items are a couple bucks each per pound

@@BubuH-cq6km Yeah I know, But besides the money, its a bit of innovation. If you have an old grinder you aren't using. Or u have two. The only problem is, you gotta have a spot welder, just to make a grinder chain saw. U can buy little cheap chain saws for under 50 bucks. Can you buy a spot welder for under 50 bucks? Nope. But it's just a bit of inventor wisdom.

All that for slightly less dirty old nuts and bolts. You were so keen to do it because you could. You did not stop to think if you should.

I think that an angle grinder would spin too fast that all the material would be on the wall of the jar and not being moved around.

@All (&@rick) ... Plz excuse if this point made by other(s). (idk&idc 2 read 'all'.) Nwy, It took me 10 seconds to realize, after reading 1st comment (cf @rick), that if - IF you (collectively) were "restoring" a 'vintage' ANYTHING (for wtv reasons) salvaging the "original" PARTS would be 'highly' desirable... 'This' (laborious) method serves as a catalyst for many ideas. Thanks goes to the provider!

buy a media tumbler. It's more quiet, cheaper in the long run, & won't put hours on a battery grinder & it does a lot more parts at a time

You are doing well. More than a million views of this content, after putting a few hours of effort in for a job that could be done in ten minutes with a wire brush, or buying new bolts for a couple of quid. Maybe now buy shot blast equipment from your ad revenue.

As a retired Safety Auditor, I feel that I must point out the extreme danger in wearing work gloves while using any kind of power rotary tools! This gives the tool something to grab hold of and pull the hand into the rotating equipment, taking the hand with it. Hopefully this observation will not be greeted with the usual " that will never happen to me I'm careful". I have seen it happen in my career the most professional workers! Please lose the gloves in your videos, for your viewer's sake and your oun!
