I crafted this set independently without seeing this and it is viable up to end of game. Farm Imagawa Diehard for the bow, dual swords and armour pieces and their smithing texts. Expeditions will drop pieces at your current level so you don't need to waste cash soul matching. Temper in lightning imbued and shock build up on your glaive, onmyo skill bonus on all armour pieces. Use stag as primary guardian, eagle as secondary for lightning damage bonus. Use accessories that give lightning damage and onmyo boosts. Use soulcores with elemental attacks like Mitsume Yazura and Onyudo, they will deal lightning damage to your guardian spirit. Seventh piece of Golden Boy is unnecessary if you've been scaling constitution, use a light hat or second weapon with onmyo bonus.

If you want to play this build than make sure to put enough points to stamina to get below 70% weight. Otherwise you will run out of ki to fast.

I’ve been maining the glaive/magic. I feel like it’s just not as effective because magic use is more situational (not really situational, but you have a finite amount, and shrines can be VERY far apart in this game) than the weapons who’s base-stat is more universal. Though I find the Glaive itself so effective that I rarely feel the need to use my secondary anyways. But For example: Swords scale primarily with Heart, Strength and skill, coming in 3rd. Dual Sword primary scale-stat is Skill, but heart and strength also provide base buffs to the weapon. So you can see how those two weapons synergize off of one another, as leveling the primary stat for one weapon levels the secondary stat for the other... and vice versa. But nothing really levels with Magic besides the Glaive. And constitution, which is the Glaive’s secondary leveling stat is not a popular choice between other weapons either. So if your maining Glaive, you primary stat (magic) wont have a big amount of *base* impact on other weapons. And while applied magic is good on any weapon, you won’t be able to invest too many points into buffing the other stats of that secondary weapon, and there’s not a ton of crossover between Glaive and other weapons as far as stat-leveling goes besides skill, which is the lowest of the 3 leveling stats (magic, constitution, skill) with the Glaive. If your going to main Glaive, it’s kind of an ‘all or nothing’ investment because unless you re-spec, it’s hard to shift to another weapon while also keeping the Glaive proportionately strong. I really can’t say for sure because everything is kind of complex, so I am probably very wrong, lol. Or maybe I don’t use magic properly/enough. Idk. Either way, I’m in too deep to start maining a new weapon. #GlaiveGang

Magic (at least in the first game) was primarily used for buffing yourself and debuffing bosses. I havent messed around with it enough in this one to say that I'm right, but I wouldn't imagine it being too different

@Space Kid Entertainment Oh, that I can see. It's EASILY my favorite weapon. And now I abuse magic all the time, seeing as my magic stat is so high. I just wished it synergized a little better with other weapons, stats, and (non-magic) skills. But hell yes, it's great. But when you think about it, it's not broken because of the low synergy rating. I mean, if it played off of other skills and weapons to the degree that most of the other weapons do, it would be broken.

As usual Fextralife guides are questionable at best. Notice how when the guide shows stats , it has 10 stamina. So what right ? Well the item set in question is a heavy one. If you equip all 5 pieces the weight is insane. You can see the 87 % at 04:00 and that is with lone wolf legs instead of the set ones. You go over 90% normally which conveniently is not shown here.

I just stayed with the golden boy set since it's really the only set that gives you extra lightning damage. Just soul match your favorite pieces of the set and it'll still be good for the end game.

You could actually use the Hatchets with this build. They both scale with Skill and Hatchets share Magic scaling. You lose out on one peice of the set. But the last piece only gives you some life, so its negligible. You'd still have the lightning damage bonus.

It might. You will lose out of the golden boy set bonuses though. The set gives alot of extra lightning damage. But i guess you could focus on other elements and try diffrent things out.

MeldinX2 I’m playing with a full magic build (switchblade) and it’s amazing, all I need is the base weapon scrolls (5 from each). It’s almost like my cheesy infinite LW onmyo build from the first game (stacking status effects on the enemy) but without the LW part (so I need to actually be careful in combat). I can’t wait to start ng+ for the divine items.

MeldinX2 I’ve made some changes so it’s still the same playstile (switchblade + onmyo weapon scrolls) but I started to spend skill points to increase my bow dmg AND I’m using the +20% bow dmg clan bonus. It’s great with Kagewani (anima bonus for ranged hit). It’s goot to see that bows are actually usefull this time. Plus I’m fast with dodge af because I got A for agility (light armor only). I’m Very squishy but almost everything kills you in 2 hit unless you’re using heavy armor builds. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d like to change my guardian spirit to Tengen Kujaku because it has A anima bonus for elemental attack and still got that anima bonus for ranged hit too. It’s the go-to guardian for any magic build imo. Sadly I don’t have the required stats to unlock it’s last 2 bonuses yet.

As described in the build, I have 4 pieces of equipment from the marksman and the bow of the marksman. Which weapon then gives the 6 bonus? I only get 5. If I take all the equipment from the marksman, I'm too heavy. Just do not understand how I should get the 6th bonus then.

You should focus on warrior of the west set and 2 pieces of golden boy set. You will do a lot more dmg.

The crushing flaw of this build is no ki, you can barely get a combo off, let alone switch stances as the weapon is intended mid might, your regeneration sucks and the damage mitigation is hardly much better than a mid weight armor. All in all the switchglaive benefits most from lightweight armor to combo fast and hard. The spell damages are okay but not something you’re gonna rely on til much later.

Can you do a katana spellsword type build? I’m pairing a katana with dual katanas with light armor for a lightning build but I’m not sure if I’m doing this right. I seem to have a ton of synergy with my starter lightning spirit, so I feel like this could work...

kay gonna be real with you, this will be a long comment. weapons: your Katana can be anything. anything at all. just get that damage number high and get break ki on there. that will be your turtle murderer and your human negator. dual swords arent great at killing defensive enemies but katana's are decent at it, combine with Katana's great parry moves they're perfect for human enemies. dual Katana's are your yokai slayers as most dont defend for shit. you need lightning damage on those things. you can temper it on (rare but it can happen, jsut make sure you dont already have an element on there like poison) and for skill, get the ones where the character swings like a maniac and use it on enemies when you get the chance. individual damage numbers dont matter initially as it's about proccing that shock status (low stance is decent for that too but might take a lil longer than the skills) as for other skills, get what you feel comfortable with. armour. anything that boosts onmyo or infinite onmyo. there are a couple onmyo mage sets but until late game dont worry too much bout it. just go for defence mostly and when you find something with an ability that works for you keep it. for a spell sword i would suggest anything that helps block and break as well as ki regen, you'll meleeing alot after all. accessories. this is important. GET CHANGE TO DEFENCE MAGIC ON THEM. the other abilities are situational but this will help dramatically. i have two with that and each level on magic i get like 4 defence a pop at least (think they both give like 50+ defence and they're only level 10-12 both, no need to soul match) so when you feel the need to put a point in there, you get a decent boost to defence similar to getting an armour a level or two higher. Kodama sense is great ofcourse. but the golden roll if you can get it as well is boost to magic. those things can give like 20+ boost. thats 10% extra damage right there. on both thats 20% more damage with magic in general. this also includes elemental damage weapons deal so if you get lightning swords, that 40 lightning damage becomes 48. small, but adds up fast. magic: as you're going spell sword, the bread and butter apply. barrier, steel and rejuvination are great for almost all scenarios. life seal is great for human bosses but thats deep in the tree and might not be worth it for you personally. i wouldnt bother with sloth as shock does the same thing. as for the attack spells, use em and see what you like. i would reccomend having a second element though. water is my personal pick along with lightning, as it reduces defence. get confuse on the feckers and you have a slowed enemy (shock) that has lower defence (water) and gets staggared by everything (confuse, done by the two elements mixing) and confuse gives bonus damage too so thats even more! fire is also decent for when you get high up and are just peppering adark realm spawn monster with shit to kill it safely so the damage over time helps with that (happens decently often) but ninjutsu bombs are good for that (even if you dont spec into nin it's good to have a few bombs available) lightning shot is a good attention grab while also dealing good damage, and at high onmyo the status bar fills damn fast as long as they dont resist. the close range thunder fall ability in the vid is decent, but too close for my liking. the shikigami explosion is nice crowd control. and can never go wrong with the lightning application magic. as for stats: ..... eh..... cant help much here. reason being i dunno how you'll favour which weapon, and how deep into onmyo you wanna go. you're using two weapons with different stats while also going magic. thats 3 stats for just your damage and utility. then there's armour requirements and the like. so go with what you use and distribute for what you want and need. but something i did that worked out surprisingly well is get all stats to 10 atleast. this is a major investment but in exchange you rarely have to worry bout requirements for armour or spirits and you have a lot of ki and health. but that one really is personal preference until people smarter than i am (not hard) make OP builds. and one final thing, dont forget that almost all magic can specced into multiple times to increase the amount you can carry, and lower the cost of carrying. so if you use lightning shot a lot, then put another point into it to get more. surprisingly quite a few people look over that. granted after saying all this it's all about how you feel with playing it, but i followed similar rules with my water/lightning mage (granted i was pure scythe so i didnt have to worry bout stat distribution for base damage) and i feel this should set you on a decent path atleast initially until you work stuff out and fine tune it to your liking.

@@dwally1616 okay this one aint as tricky as it's sword and magic, but at the same time also a bit more vague. first up, the sword.... or rather, swords. you want two different swords. preferably both with different elements that you want but that might be a lot to ask so get atleast one element of your needs on one (considering how good both lighting and water are, your pick here) with anything that boosts that elements damage or status effect, this you'll mainly be using on Yokai as again, they rarely defend. the other is your turtle breaker (as said previously, this is ki damage, break and so on) to deal with assholes who only defend, this will mainly be humans but Yoki's seem to like doing this too now. in addition, and this one is personal honestly, if you can get the ability that reduces ki use for low stance attacks then that would be awesome. low stance is GREAT for status infliction. but again this is personal. i know some people cant stand low stance like i detest high stance. long range: whatever the hell you want. god i hope there is a magic bow in this game. that would be awesome. armour. depends what you're going with. if heavy then golden boy for certain. tanky and increases lightning damage. wonderful. medium or light, whatever has the better stats for the time of need. personally, i like light armour with ki boosts. plus if you get damage boost agility this helps. accessories. these are mainly utility for NG, so kodama sensor and the like help a lot. once you figure out the major build you want to charge into NG+ with then these get more important. change defence magic is nice course. clan. you're in the third so should have clans by now. if you're going hard water, then the one that gives health back on water damage. it's small but that little bit of healing helps surprisingly well. have it with my water scythe and it's saved me multiple elixers. otherwise either onmyo boost or thunder boost. stats. if you're sword and magic, then obviously heart and magic. but the ratio is how you feel like. considering magic will be your attack boost or statu inflictor and not your primary damage cause katana, then i would suggest a 2-1 heart-magic split until magic is at 15. then 3-1 ratio. until heart is at 40. from there do as you desire. 40 heart should be high enough to give decent damage output for the entire game if nioh 1 is anything to go by. this will give you a decent chunk of onmyo power and capacity, atleast enough to keep buffs up. though saying this, it also depends on what armour and such you wanna wear. so stats where you need them. again, i would personally say put 10 into everything as thats "safe" and go from there. books of ressurection are pretty easy to come by so if you wanna take stuff out of say skill as you arent using anything for it, then it's pretty simple to do so. magic: again, bread and butter apply. so steel, barrier, rejuvination. as for elements, whatever your sword isnt. so if you got a water sword, then use lightning spells and vice versa. i would reccomend the weapon buffs over the long range spells due to mainly using katana for damage. might as well apply status at the same time. though saying this, it is a decent idea to carry atleast one type of onmyo shot skills: you're using a katana. ALL THE PARRIES AND GET GOOD. after that, quick draw slash is absurd in this game as it was in nioh 1. high damage, high elemental inflict, super fast, rather spammable.... it's not THE BEST tactic for everything, but for a lot of things it's still freaking solid. other than that.... whatever you feel comfortable pulling off in the middle of fights. the AoE ki burst is decent if you need breathing room for a moment. spirits: whatever you need. the starter bird is solid for lightning, and i cant remember if you already have or will soon get a mermaid looking one that boosts water. thats a solid one for water builds. mind these are both Feral but there is a water butterfly one that is phantom, so that could be useful to you if you like phantom over feral.

Its 4 heavy and one medium weight. You should be barely touching 90%. From the looks of it you are rocking the full set, 5 heavy. 4 should be Golden and the other one can be anything, crafting a "Lone Wolf's" is the best low weight medium set.

Absolutely not. There is not worst weapon in the game. They all have their pros and cons and it's all down to personal preference of the user and how they like to play. We cannot tell for certain atm as to if there is one or so particular builds at true end game that are op but the switchglaive is absolutely not bad. At high damages, low stance attacking does a lot of damage. We also have stance Ki pulse change combos so you can attack in low, Ki pulse stance change into high and hit and then back into low etc etc. Again, not a bad weapon at all. None of them are. It's not that kind of game.

@@lachlan4534 so is the switchglaive a heavy weapon like the odachi or is it a light weapon? I'm trying to use dual blades as my primary and have a heavy weapon as my secondary so it comes down to the odachi and the switchglaive (if it is a heavy weapon).

@@punani_slayer4209 it depends on what stance you are in. In low stance it would be considered a light weapon as it attacks fast but when you are in high stance and it's fully extended to a scythe, it's heavy. I would probably recommend an axe as a heavy secondary and do a double square/triangle attack in high stance. The odachi isn't exactly heavy. All weapons could be considered heavy in high stance and depending on strong/light attacks within those stances. You just got to get use to swapping stances on a Ki pulse. Even if it's between two. For example you could run in mid stance and get a few hits in and Ki pulse swap to low stance to back away with less Ki used or to get in a few very quick hits in before they connect theirs and then back out. And then dash back in with the low stance and attack and Ki pulse swap into heavy if you have the opening and back into low to dash away. It's fiddly, it can take some time to learn. But it's absolutely key to mastering the game. But definitely not needed to complete it and kill things. But yeh, glaive is and isn't heavy. All depends on the stance.

It's alright. Seems like a mid-heavy weapon with high and mid stances mainly usable - low minimal range used to quickly finishing off a low health enemy when you have little ki/weak enemy quickly. B+ stat scaling with magic makes it very unique though.

Only issue I have with this build is the extremely limited supply of magic you can use. In a lot of parts of the game, it is quite a hike to the next shrine. And early on finding good untouched magic skill bonus is pretty difficult.

Nox In a Box put 30 point into magic and use the last slot from the lightning tree. That’s the max capacity and it’s 100% okay even at lvl90. (maybe there is a set in ng+ to increase this number)

11 months ago, but it’s in act 2 iirc. You have to beat the boss from the main or sub mission that’s wearing the set (dude with scythe and dual swords, gives you the elephant spirit bond)

People play how they want, what's it to you? - People are spamming shuriken builds that make it so you dont even have to use your primary weapon. You just rush the boss and bam, done.

Fextralife , As described in the build, I have 4 pieces of equipment from the marksman and the bow of the marksman. Which weapon then gives the 6 bonus? I only get 5. If I take all the equipment from the marksman, I'm too heavy. Just do not understand how I should get the 6th bonus then.

Oh, just one thing. Maybe I’m misunderstanding how it works. But looking at the requirements on Ame-no-Mitori to get your +20.00% Lightning Damage to function, you need your courage stat at 11. And Magic stat at 12. You only have your courage stat at 5? Am I missing something?

Get a few spells or amulets and spam them on enemies, if it's a buff, kill enemies with it, go back to shrine to recharge and repeat. Same with ninjutsu

Actually the game got a lot less hard after the first chapter for me... Maybe because I got better at the game? But 2nd and 3rd boss I was stuck on for a whole day. But after second chapter it got a lot easier because you get way better gear.
