Watching people break a game like Fez just feels so appropriate. I always forget until I'm hearing the music or seeing it how stinking nostalgic and relaxing and engrossing this game is. I don't think I've ever been able to play anything since that's ever really managed to imitate it.

I love this game so much tbh. Like, I was never going to figure out all the secrets, but it lets you complete the game *without* figuring it all out, and it's just such a simple, beautiful, calming atmosphere. The secrets and surreality just enhance that for me! (Except for that one set of rooms where there's a time limit. Time limits are not calming.)
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
You mean the rising lava room? That's not a time limit, but it's about as stressful.

What happens when you get all 32 yellow cubes when you already collected that extra cube?
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
33 probably? I know it's possible to get certain anti-cubes many times using another glitch (which is banned on the speedrun leaderboards because you wouldn't really be playing the game), so they won't show up in your inventory but they'll count on the cube doors and they'll count in your completion percentage, 3.125% for each cube. Max is supposed to be 209.375%, but you can glitch it as high as 400% I think.

rythm room is the hardest? I spent an hour for the lava-room...
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
Well, the lava room isn't gonna be fun to speedrun, but it's not gonna be too hard, because when you get to the floating platform you have to wait for the lava. You don't even have any impetus to go super fast or make a certain cycle on the flipping platforms, so once you're good at it it's a piece of cake. Making super tight blinking block cycles though? I guarantee that if you had to learn zero-cycle it would take you way more than an hour.

Hi, I have a question that I hope you can clear up. It's been causing resets for way to long. The odd time when I go into the 4 cube tetromino room (in the bell tower segment) it's already solved and turns into an anti cube immediately. I play on the latest version on ps4 (I know my runs aren't valid but I'm doing them for fun) and I keep resetting when it happens because it seems to be rng and I've never seen it before. Please help!!!
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
I was going to give a lengthy reply about how I thought the glitch might not disqualify your run if it were exclusive to the PS4 port, but then I realized I just met you in the Fez speedrunning discord lol

@@Nat_the_Chicken lol, luckily enough the glitch happens on pc in a way that is legal and saves time

Just a quick question: What's the hype about the segment from 18:11?
@Jaydawg198448 жыл бұрын
He didn't mess up on that section (including the previous harder room). Having played this game casually, I can attest to taking a very long time to get through this room or not timing the jumps. The wonderful thing about people doing speed runs is that they make the tricks look simple and easier but you attempt it yourself, it's difficult to pull off.
@terchanovic8 жыл бұрын
Geroszlán the one jump he sighs after about halfway through the area is insanely difficult
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
The room isn't difficult from a casual perspective really, but I thought they explained the cycle thing pretty well. The blocks are on a timer, blinking in sequences that repeat (cycles), which means that in order to climb the room as fast as possible you need to figure out the quickest pattern of jumping on them to minimize the time you spend waiting for them. That particular room has a super fast pattern that's very difficult to execute, and if you make any mistakes you have to wait for at least one additional cycle, which is timeloss. So they were all holding their breaths until he made it to the Anti-cube and hoping he didn't mess up, and then they were pumped when he made it.

Why does everyone hate the game dev?
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
I think he said some nasty things on Twitter in response to critics. Also he rage-quit the game dev profession/community because of said critics, during the early stages of development of the sequel, leading to the famous quote, "That's it, I'm done. Fez 2 is cancelled." It's not that big of a deal imo, and I don't think it should affect our view of the game except to explain why some of the puzzles are literally impossible. Phil Fish just doesn't really get how other people think.

It's the last essential action to perform, I guess. You have to admit, it's a strange ending sequence...
@kuribirdie8 жыл бұрын
why does it keep crashing in this run?
@zeppelinruse8 жыл бұрын
+SCIPR06 Gaming It's not actually crashing, that's part of the game. They were joking about it.
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
Le fake crash cutscene. That's not what you see when a video game crashes; you see the game close abruptly, and it usually doesn't have much of an effect on the operating system. You'll just end up seeing the desktop or console home screen. You'd then have to try restarting the game, and almost always get the regular intro/menu. That boot-up sequence is based on what you might see when an operating system crashes, although it's pretty old-fashioned at this point.

Wait, this game has stuff hidden until you play NG+? That's absolute garbage. "Hey, did you spend hours trying to figure out how to get everything without looking stuff up? Well guess what? You have to start over to find everything!"
@elblogdelfeno7 жыл бұрын
You keep all your progress in NG+ to be fair. The game only introduces a new mechanic so you can figure out a few extra puzzles.
@KingofJ957 жыл бұрын
Then that's just even more BS. "Hey, did you spend hours trying to figure out how to get everything without looking stuff up? Well guess what? If you press the button that usually means start over the story with your upgrades unlocked, then you actually get a new power to properly beat the game."
@grandmasterofthrow62386 жыл бұрын
Fuckin' casuls.
@Nat_the_Chicken5 жыл бұрын
@@KingofJ95 The thing about this game is that spending hours trying to get everything without looking stuff up is just the beginning. You have to write down every symbol ever and scour through them to really get everything, and it can take weeks. So given the circumstances I don't think it's a major fault.
@Nat_the_Chicken3 жыл бұрын
@@KingofJ95 I have a better counter-argument than I had last year. If you've played Fez, you know that "start over the story with your upgrades unlocked" literally just means "pick up where you left off." There is no story, and there are no upgrades. You can stumble into the ending sequence without realizing that's where you are, or that you can't go back, because you only need half the game's content to get it. Then when you immediately try to get back into your game, you'll start a new game plus by default because the continue button is greyed out, and it does end up letting you continue where you were. You'll definitely get the glasses in the regular course of the game; NG+ in this case is just part of that, rather than some kind of bonus feature.
