The only reason why Uematsu doesn't deserve massive praise is because he is a video game composer, and video game composers are typically not taken very seriously. If he was a movie composer or something then he would EASILY be in the same league as John Williams.

I agree with Laurelindo, there are so many amazing video game composers out there: Uematsu, composers of the Souls series, the composer for Silent Hill series (who makes completely different music than the other two that I named), the composers for the Ace Attorney series... these are only few that I can name and I don't play that many games and listen to that many soundtracks from said games. Video game composers don't get the admiration they deserve. Everyone knows Hans Zimmer or John Williams but they stare at you confused when you say Nobuo Uematsu. Such a shame.

@@toprak3479 Uematsu is definitely well known in Japan. Eyes on Me single sold over a million records alone. Also, Nobuo Uematsu game music has sold over 15 million copies making him the biggest selling video game music artist ever.

LOL, yes indeed, and every year less and less comments about people our age show up. We're dying. Thirty years don't go by in vain, let alone 40 for some. But man! FFI was THE rpg that introduced me to the genre when I didn't even know what a genre was. Then I just wanted to play more and more video games with a story mode I used to call 'search' games. Oh! What memories of youth and innocence! One has to be born again to relive such experiences. I only hope future generations get to live such great experiences of pure joy and innocence that come with just being young and carefree in the world! Live long and happy lives, young 'uns!!

@@TheD2D21 its good, but I find the magic system is confusing. I play a lot of old games, and I've always liked Dragon Quest, but I've only just been getting into Final Fantasy recently. I personally prefer Dragon Quest because it's simpler and easier to understand, and I love Akira Toriyama, but Final Fantasy is good too. It has amazing music, Yoshitaka Amano's character designs are really cool, and the graphics and style in terms of RPGs was ahead of its time. You really should try out Dragon Quest though. I highly recommend it.

this is one of the tracks on an album that Uematsu released back in 1994 under the title "Symphonic Suite Final Fantasy," based on the first two final fantasies, you Kingdom Hearts-sucking noobs. This particular arrangement's is properly titled Scene III (The album is composed of VII scenes.) And yes, this song opens with the main theme of Final Fantasy BUT it DOES transition into the Matoya's Cave melody. This is called a movement. These pieces are not any one song, but medleys of various ones.
