I am still blown away by how perfectly they remade this game's soundtrack in a way that manages to both build upon it but also keep as much faithful as possible. The way that Let the Battles Begin in a variant or partial version or even just motif references are woven through so much of the game's early music until the 52 minute mark in this video when it finally breaks out in its full faithful form is just glorious.

Using remaster and remake in the same sentence oof. FF7 remake as the name says is a remake not a remaster, it is made from the ground up as a new version of the game, a remaster is something like ff8 remastered where it’s the same game spruced up with new content. Hell I’d argue FF7 remakes isn’t a remake but more a reimagining as while similar is vastly different from the original, unlike many remakes like Demon souls, and Shadow of the colossus

Just to let you know, this soundtrack won Soundtrack of the Year on the 35th Gold Disc Award in Japan. More or less, that's like Grammy in Japan. Imagine a game soundtrack winning against John Williams' Rise of Skywalker or Max Richter's Ad Astra. Even more interesting is that Queen won the Best International Artist of 2020, and they've won it since 2018. (I was trying to link the Soundtrack of the Year page but KZbin doesn't allow linking on the comment section anymore, I think)

On the OST, I can't find the music that's playing when Aerith is standing in front of the singularity to explain that there is no greater threat to the planet than Sephiroth, any idea why it's not on the soundtrack or am I missing something ?
@mojojojo62923 жыл бұрын
There's a few missing tracks, the ones playing in Airiths garden when you talk to Tifa, Airith or Barret is also missing. The one that plays when Airith is talking in the Shinra room with the wall painting where she grew up after cloud wakes up. Also Sephiroths battle theme. Those are coming in a future disk I think. It's a shame as they are all good tracks.

The fact that the DOOM fans think that their game should've won Soundtrack of The Year is nothing short of comical.
@CarmeloSantosF4 жыл бұрын
why? what's wrong with the Doom soundtrack? They can't even be compared
@GrahamChapman4 жыл бұрын
@@CarmeloSantosF Oh, there's nothing "wrong" with the DOOM soundtrack per se; it's a great soundtrack for a 1st person shooter game... The FF7R soundtrack, on the other hand? It's just plain a great soundtrack period. Not "great for a JRPG" but just plain great. Great enough to completely blow the DOOM ost out of the water. And the way the tracks are implemented in the game itself, with the music subtly syncing up with the action in cutscenes and the ways that the boss themes build on themselves over the course of the boss fights until the fights and themes reach a mind blowing crescendo, also ends up blowing DOOM's much more stable "blood pumping and adrenaline rushing until all enemies are dead" themes and fights out of the park.
@CarmeloSantosF4 жыл бұрын
@@GrahamChapman that's totally biased. FF7R ost is good music, Doom Eternal ost is good music too. I've lost insane amounts of weight listening to that shit while working out, it enhances me like no other music when I need energy in the morning to get up or clean up the house. They cannot be compared because both soundtracks are extremely different and both seek different things. FF7R re arranges classics in such beautiful manner it moves you to tears as you revive iconic moments, Doom ost feels like a goddam power up, specially once you get in the zone, it becomes your boss music. They both are great, very different and effective at fullfilling their purpose. I can't be happier for FF7R taking the win, but Doom was a good runner up too and deserving of the win, and there's nothing comical about wanting Doom to win.
@haruthefrog4 жыл бұрын
@@GrahamChapman I never understood the need to downplay one thing to praise the other. Apples and oranges, man. Besides, game awards don't really matter much IMO, Bloodborne didn't win Best Soundtrack in 2015 either.
@GrahamChapman4 жыл бұрын
@@CarmeloSantosF Honestly, I don't really care if I'm being biased, because what soundtrack we _like_ is a matter of subjectivity, so saying I'm biased is really not even an argument. But regardless of subjectivity and what we "like", FF7R's soundtrack is still objectively better than DOOM's -- much like how Beethoven is objectively better than Justin Bieber and Nickelback... and I really, _really_ cannot emphasize how little I care about how much weight you've lost while listening to DOOM's ost... Heck, if you think FF7R's soundtrack doesn't get people up in the morning and make house chores easier to do then, I dunno, maybe you should switch your DOOM ost out for the FF7R one while doing those things every once in a while? DOOM has a good soundtrack _for a 1st person shooter ost._ Which means that it generally sounds about the same as most other 1st person shooter ost's out there: Heavy metal and hard rock pretty much almost throughout the entire thing with a few slower tracks for pacing and stuff. DOOM's soundtrack is just a bit better than most other ones within its own genre. This time the right soundtrack won and there really was no soundtrack more deserving than FF7R's. Being one of the runner-ups was definitely the position that DOOM deserved, and that still makes its soundtrack pretty good. Now, I probably sound like a jackass to you, but let's not kid ourselves: The DOOM fanbois have not exactly been all graceful about their loss either. And if they can be bad losers, then I can be a bad winner in retaliation.

@Minicrom For me, this soundtrack sounds too trite and too much repetition. Do people like this typical sound? Doom Eternal has a variety and absolutely original sound in general. When I read that the tracks in FF7R are varied, I am generally surprised by this. Although most people love the simple sound and that's why they choose FF7R over Doom Eternal
